Nora was walking around the sitting room of her apartment, her hands folded on her chest like she was pondering something very important.

The house and surroundings were quiet, since their closest neighbours were some feets away from them; and they had all gone to their working place.

Nora picked her phone from the table in front of her, and let-out a grunt when she saw that her email was empty. None of the companies she applied to had accepted her.

Nora sincerely didn't know what department she wanted to work in. She did go to school, but it was barely before graduating that she was swept back into the web of her father's mafia family situations.

Not that she cared, though. She would gladly accept if she got a job as a cleaner, nanny or even a cooking staff—as long as the job would fetch her a little more money to add to the one she had saved so she could fly out of the country and start an entirely new life.

Nora slumped down to a chair in the living room, her eyes spinning

Raven was panting, scattering everything that was in his way. He had a very angry expression on his face and a cigarette burning in his mouth. Jordan was trying to calm him down, but he wasn't showing any signs of wanting to calm down soon. “I can't believe I was knocked out by one of my stepbrothers. Where the f*ck were you all?“ yelled Raven. “We did succeed in saving you at last. I don't know why you're making the situation complex!“ said Jayden. They were in Gomez Waxson's house, doing drugs as they looked at the angry Raven before them. The house was a large mansion with up to eighty rooms. It was built in a very private and protected estate in California, and only the rotten-rich could afford to own and maintain a house there. All the members of the Scorpion Mafia family were complete. They were some guarding the gates, some arranging and packaging cocaine and marijuana they were going to sell, some reloading the firearms and guns, some cooking and some doing many other

The news had spread all over the radio stations, newspapers and other social media apps in Los Angeles and the whole of America that Alvin Miller of Crystal Blue company threatened to kill all the board directors and shareholders of Madrin Company if they ever neared his company again. They were reporters outside the Skyscraper of Blue Crystal company, all struggling and fighting to pave a way into the building. But the security was tight, so none of them could go in. Amanda was stressed. She had been sending messages and running errands for her boss since the day started. It was about 2p.m. now, and yet the reporters weren't showing any signs of wanting to give up. Alvin was pacing around in his office, hitting his fists on the wall in anger and destroying the MacBook that sat on his table. Two of the companies they had partnership with had called and cut ties with Blue Crystal company. The rest had sent letters to confirm if what they were hearing was true, and Alvin couldn't eve

Nora hit her feet on the tiled ground as she looked at the tall building before her. She clutched her bag to herself, breathing in and out. She was about to resume doing what she had vowed to stop. And she wasn't very happy about it. Her heart was heavy, like it had tripled and the weight was soon going to overcome her. “I disciplined myself for this. Why can't I muster the courage to go in now?“ she asked herself. Before her was the Madrin Company, one that produced expensive snacks and beverages. Nora had been informed by an agent from her email that the Company's CEO recently fired the secretary; and her sole purpose of coming here was to apply for the job and see if they'll take her. Nora weighed the ups and downs of working there. The ups are: Good salary, maximum protection and chances of meeting big people in the business world. And the cons are: Lots of paperwork, the Company's location was too far from where she lived, no career growth, and zero respect from the CEO.

It was 6:30. The city of Los Angeles was busy and eventful as always. Alvin was in his father's Cadillac car. They were both in the back seat, driving to a place which Alvin guessed was the banana penthouse. The drive was silent and uneventful, and Alvin looked at the chauffeur's head as he drove—since he wanted to avoid his father's gaze at all costs. None of them has said a word since they left the interrogation room. And Alvin wanted to ask his father many questions but he was too scared to do so—like his asking would bring the harshness of reality to fall over him once again. The silence was slowly killing Alvin, twisting around his heart and soul like a boa constricting its prey. They had been driving for hours now, and still they hadn't arrived at their destination. Alvin was tempted to ask his father where they were heading to, but he didn't dare. He wanted to enjoy the peace and the silence a little longer before he faced his punishment. He looked outside through the w

Wednesday looked bright and promising—but not for Nora Waxson. She was walking beside the road with her phone in her hands and airpods in her ears. Her phone was playing slow pop music—the only thing that took her out of the world into a place she could control. She had a lot of things on her mind today, and didn't know how to shut down her thoughts and concentrate on the life ahead of her. Life? Nora chuckled as she thought of it. There was no life ahead of her. Raven was going to come for her sooner or later, and snatch whatever remains of her. A big question mark still hung in the air, though. Raven had claimed that he knew where she was—which meant that someone who she had given her email had sold her out. And the only person she remembered to have given her email to was Manager Thompson. If she was ever going to avoid being used as meat for Raven, she had to track and find the person who sold her out—which was Manager Thompson, by the way. But Nora still couldn't beli

(Last chapter's continuation) Nora looked at David with shaken eyes, her features rigid and wavering at the same time. “What?“ David walked up to her, his expression unreadable as always. “Raven. Who is he… or her?“ “I owe you no explanation, asshole!“ Nora suddenly said before running out. Catherine ran after her, followed by David who did it in a more composed way. Nora was looking around, searching for a possible means of transport. The cops hadn't let her see her surroundings when they were taking her here—and she would have been more frustrated than ever if the station was not in North Hollywood. Catherine finally lost it. “Can you tell me what's happening, Nora? Or you've finally run mad?“ Nora shot her a glare that made her freeze. They had fought once, and Nora knew Catherine feared her more than death but was using her acting talent to hide it. “I came with my car,” David announced, walking up to Nora. “I know you don't have any money on you, babe. Warning: This chapter involves some wild actions which might not be suitable to very young minds. Read at your own risk.****Wednesday night was cool with a satisfying atmosphere. It was the perfect night for dying in your sleep. Raven was hooded, wearing a long and thick black robe that hid his body features. He was walking majestically without any company, with a smile of success on his face. He had killed the second of his ten remaining step-siblings yesterday—practically driven up to her shabby house in a small California village and killed her peacefully. Now, he was in front of a Jamaica themed club in Los Angeles. He brought out his phone from his pocket and texted a “wait for me” message to Jordan who was on the wheel of his Mercedes car at the next street. Raven kept his phone back in his pocket after that. His gaze roamed around the street and the bar before him. The place was quite busy, with the majority of people who had come out of the club drinking on the

When Nora got conscious, she noticed that her hands were tied to the back of an iron chair in which she sat. She made an effort to struggle, but soon realised that it was useless. Nora raised her face to look at the place she was in. She couldn't make-out a thing since the room was dark-black. Her eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness, and she closed them for a second. She has been caught! For the first time in Nora's life, she felt really afraid. Though she couldn't see a thing, she could tell a window in the room was open as a result of the breeze that caressed her skin. Nora felt tears trickle down her face. So this was how it felt to know you're close to your death? She felt some strange type of cold, and knew it wasn't from the breeze. The room smelt of sour ginger, but it was also oddly comforting—like a chicken locked up in an air-conditioned room right after being told that it was going to die ten minutes later. At least she wasn't dead yet, which was probably a good

Raven walked towards them with a gun in his hands while pushing Catherine forward. He had a look of bloodlust in his eyes as he stopped and spat just a few feets away from Alvin and Nora who were still on the ground. Catherine's eyes were half-closed from tiredness and fatigue and it seemed she hadn't realised that it was Nora in front of her. She finally did when Raven pushed her with force to the ground. Catherine groaned as her body landed on the ground and she looked up at Nora who looked equally shocked and confused to see her. Catherine's mouth was quivering as she stared at Nora, so guilty and distracted by her presence that she didn't see Alvin near her. “N-nora…” she stammered. “I thought you were… gone. I'm sorry for—” She had wanted to get up as she spoke but Raven kicked her back to the ground. “R-raven… don't!“ Nora screamed. “It's me you want, right? Take me and let her be.“ Raven laughed. “I've waited for this moment for a long time… ever since the will was rea

(Last chapter's continuation) Alvin lowered his height as he came out of the car. He wasn't wearing a mask again and his heart beat faster than usual out of fear. He really didn't have a plan—didn't know how the Scorpions or whoever attacked them was successful when Darkie and the Mamba Soldiers were behind. He was thinking to walk to the back of the car and start shooting then wait for Darkie and the two soldiers to join him. There was silence all around except from the occassional passing of other cars. Alvin balanced himself and looked to his right, just realising that they were well off the mainroad. He suddenly rose to his full height to attack the masked guys who had hijacked them when he felt the barrel of a gun on his head from behind. Alvin planned to surprise the person behind him and shoot him dead but froze when he heard a voice. “Don't even think about it. Drop the guns.“ Alvin turned slowly and gasped when he saw the voice owner was indeed Darkie. Before he coul

Nora was almost tempted to stop at Amanda's office as they passed but didn't when she saw the expression on Alvin's face. They got to the elevator, and as they waited Nora wondered where they were going. “Nice of you to have kept your guns in your office. It seems you really trusted that guy.“ “I did,” Alvin responded. “And this is how he repays me—by fucking my secretary on my desk. I'm so going to fry him when I'm finally settled.“ “What about Amanda?“ asked Nora. “What about her?“ “What are you going to do with her?“ “Fire her of course,” Alvin replied with a smile. “I can't believe my father had actually wanted me to marry someone like that. Now I have enough reasons to not marry her.“ Nora wanted to speak but shut up as a result of the fact that he mentioned his father. The elevator stopped and op

(Last chapter's continuation) The Ferrari drove out of the hotel smoothly and without any problems. When they were out, Alvin was half-expecting guys wearing black jumping from the shadows to hijack the car. But nothing happened. Maybe it was this peaceful since it was still 7:30 in the morning. The car started to drive at a leisurely pace through the express road, and Nora continuously caught glances from Jake in the rear mirror which made her uncomfortable. “Why're we going to your company?“ she quietly asked Alvin. “Because I'm going there to take some things I need,” replied Alvin. He caught Jake watching them with curiosity and was almost tempted to slap him from the back seat. “Can I know what's going on now, please?“ asked Jake. “We're already “on the way”. Alvin sighed and looked at Nora who was now staring out of the window. “Jake, this is Nora. And Nora; this is Jake, my best and closest friend.“ Nora managed a nod, not bothering to say anything or look out of t

Alvin and Nora got out of the bathroom after towelling themselves in total silence. Nora picked a new pair of underwear from the ones Alvin had bought and put it on at the back of the wardrobe. Alvin did the same but didn't change his clothes since they were still new and fresh. Nora went back to the bathroom and combed her hair since it was rougher than the situation on ground, then she wore a khaki short and a big and black T-shirt. They were both done with their dressing at last, and could barely look each other in the eyes again. Nora felt weird. It seemed like making love with Alvin had completely made her forget that there was a problem at all. Both their lives were at risk, and yet they had forgotten that and were having fun in the bathroom. Nora suddenly realised that they hadn't left the hotel even when it was obvious that a close friend to Mr Miller was the owner. She realised both of their lives would be at stake if they didn't leave there in some minutes. And what stop

David couldn't sleep throughout the night. His eyes were wide open as he was completely confused and unaware of what was happening. He didn't know how he got cut-up in this situation, but he did know that Nora was linked to the reason he was there. He just couldn't close his eyes since he was constantly cursing himself and regretting the fact that he hadn't let her be even when she insisted and showed that she hated him with passion. Now, it was morning. And he could see the outside world through the dog cage he was in. He hadn't eaten or drank anything since yesterday when he arrived here—they hadn't given him anything to eat or drink. Not that he cared much about food, though. He was thinking about his family and how they may be faring after probably hearing from his staff and bodyguards that he left home and didn't come back for the night. He was sure they'd take quick action since he always made sure to inform them if he wasn't going to return and always called his Butler when h

  • Masked curse: Forbidden Love   Chapter 86

Nora's POV I woke up with a smile on my face and wiped my eyes with my hands. The rays of the morning sun were poking-out through the blinds at the window. I had never felt this happy in all my life—my heart was filled with so much joy like I won a billion dollar lotto. I felt something firmly pressed against me from the back, and when I turned my head and discovered what it was, I felt my cheeks go hot. Alvin was lying on his side completely naked with my equally naked back pressed against him. His hands were slightly wrapped around me in a possessive way, and his hair was on the bed. I felt sore down there just from thinking of all the things we did last night. We had made love all over and over again until I couldn't take it anymore and crashed into his arms. I could tell that he was satisfied—and I had been too. I wouldn't deny that sex with him is the best thing that has ever happened to me—far better and more passionate than the ones I remembered having with David. I frown

Morning came at last. The sky was bright and promising a new day; and Los Angeles was as lively as usual. Catherine slowly let her eyes open to see the new day. Raven had totally forgotten about her since the last time he came. He didn't even ask any of the Scorpion Soldiers to feed or give her water. The tears in her eyes and face had dried completely. She looked worse than a slave who had not been fed for days and had been working non-stop despite that. Catherine managed to get up from the small bed in which she had barely gotten any sleep the night before. She crossed her arm over her body as a result of cold. Last night had been so cold that she felt like she would freeze to death since there wasn't a blanket on the bed. She felt hungry and abandoned, and wondered who Nora was and why she (Catherine) was going through hell just because of her. “You should have thought about that before you sold her information to that guy,” a voice in her head said. Catherine started to cry

Don Miller gritted his teeth as he stepped out of his Cadillac car. One of the three Black Mamba soldiers who had accompanied him for the day slowly shut the door behind him as his legs touched the ground. The angry-looking Don turned the moment the door was locked and said to the soldier who closed it: “Why did you shut the door with so much force?!“ The helpless guy looked at the other two soldiers in confusion and shock. He looked really confused because he had locked the door really professionally and silently. “I thought I shut it well, Don. I'm sorry if it might have sounded forced to you.“ He bowed to show his sincerity. Don Miller's anger heightened to the fullest. “Are you trying to say I'm deaf? Or I don't know what I'm saying? You f*cking shut the door with all the force in the world and you're denying it! Are you freaking insane?“ The soldier looked a little frightened and flustered as he crashed to the ground and begged the Don for mercy. “I'm sorry, Don. I'll never
