Eros looked unfazed since he was focused elsewhere. He returned his gaze to Keisha before smirking slightly. She gulped, afraid they were caught, and her body felt tenser than before. "I bet you're as beautiful as the way your voice sounds," he whispered sweetly yet intimidatingly.
He reached for her mask to take it off but Keisha looked away. He curiously looked at her. "A man just fell on the floor, I do not think your actions are appropriate, sir…" she murmured, her gaze shifting in all directions to see the commotion they have caused.
"Please let me go," she requested and he clenched his jaw before doing so. She speaks so softly and shyly, making him feel how fragile she is. But he's completely wrong.
This is just a show and it's killing her to make it stop.
"Boss–" Eros turned around to the man who called him. "Take care of it, I have important business here." He turned back around but found nothing. The woman who danced with him is now gone.
"Find information about that woman."
WHEN KEISHA got back to their headquarters, she was furious. The news hasn't reached anyone yet but the headmaster of the organization. Her furrowed eyebrows, scary frown, and loud stomps on the floor made everyone step away to avoid crossing her path.
"We had no idea that he wasn't the mafia boss!" Keisha screamed with anger upon reaching the office. Shadow stood beside her with his head down.
"You gave out the orders, and we followed them. You made us kill the wrong person! It was your fault!" Her screams were heard outside the office and everyone was dead silent. She was arguing with their headmaster without holding her words back, not even her partner can oppose Keisha.
"You have a sharp tongue, do you want me to cut it off?" their headmaster asked with a devious smile while playing with the knife she was holding. Keisha became more furious. "My knives are sharper than my tongue, mother." She was disgusted hearing those words come out of her own mouth.
"You sabotaged the mission, didn't you?" Keisha accused her. Her mother sighed before laughing hysterically. "Careful with your words. You might dig your own grave," she warned strictly.
"Just because you married my father doesn't mean you get my respect, you little bitch," Keisha uttered with no remorse. She is not Keisha's biological mother. She's able to step on Keisha on multiple occasions just because her father is currently not present. He's across the continent on his business trip. Her 'mother' has control over everything for now.
Her face turned red in anger. She slammed her hands on her desk before standing up. "You cannot disrespect your mother like this! You might've been with your father since you were a child but that doesn't mean you can say disrespectful words toward me. You're adopted! For God's sake, know your place," she blurted out in anger.
That's right, Keisha Lexington was not always a Lexington. She was found by the man she calls father when she was only five, alone in a world of dangerous men.
"Keisha, this is enough. Nothing will be resolved if the two of you argue," Shadow butted in the conversation. Keisha breathed heavily while glaring at her stepmother.
The two women continued glaring at each other without any words said.
Loud ringing from the telephone broke the deafening silence. Her stepmother took one last look at her before taking the phone call and turning to the side. "Yes, that would be me."
The partners looked at each other with confused looks before staring at the headmaster. "What?!" she screamed in shock before staring at Keisha. "This might be some sort of misunderstanding– I– The location? I'll talk to her regarding this matter…"
Once the call ended, the headmaster took a deep breath. "Well, what is it?" Keisha crossed her arms and raised her eyebrows. Her mother's facial expression changed to worry, making her even more confused.
"Eros Galaz… desires you to be his wife."
THE MAFIA boss has been looking for someone to be his perfect wife. A perfect pretend wife that will only last a couple of months. He was very picky, every girl he reviewed didn't match his taste and he hasn't made his decision even after two months of looking.
But now, someone finally had his interest.
A few days after the phone call to Keisha's mother, she is now sitting in front of the mafia boss with an irritated face and skeptical look. "You look very beautiful with the mask off." Talking about the time they danced together in the masquerade ball.
She almost scoffed. "You consider this a date?" She looked behind her and stared at the line of girls waiting their turn to talk to him. A glass wall separates them. Eros and her can see the group of girls while they can’t see the two. He softly chuckled before answering, "I'm looking for a partner."
"More like a business transaction." She crossed her arms and leaned back. They're inside a garden where it's only Eros and Keisha, while a line of girls waits near them. What kind of date is this?
"Do you not want to?" He raised an eyebrow with curiosity and she smirked. "Yes. I'm dying to leave. If only my mother didn't force me…" she mumbled to herself. The idea of marrying him sends shivers down her spine. She was already informed this would not last long but it would be the worst few months of her life.
Her attitude changed as if she was not the same woman he danced with. She was not acting like a goody two shoes. She speaks her mind even if it’s ill-intentioned.
"She said you're desperate for a husband." Her eyes widened and her jaw dropped. She can't believe that her mother would say that! She held the temples of her forehead before groaning. "Let me set things straight, shall I?" She stood up and walked to the other side of the table.
He leaned back to watch her little tantrum. He was impressed with her strangeness. All the women that line up for him want to steal his heart, but she wants to crush it. "Spending your time as my husband will be miserable anywhere you go, wherever you go. Return home from killing your enemies, and you'll experience worse than death from me. I'm not a woman you can easily handle so I suggest picking someone else for your little scheme."
She inched her face closer to his and she could feel his breath. "You're a wise man, Eros. Save yourself some time and never cross me again,” she uttered before slightly raising her right hand to caress his face with a smile and her left hand dropping a powdery substance in his drink.
This will be the last time she will ever see him alive anyway. The powder she poured will kill him an hour from now once he drinks it. That was the main reason she pulled through this plan.
“You’re fascinating, aren’t you? Living a life without crimes yet you attended the party. Why is that?” He was informed how she lives a normal life as the successor of their company yet she dared to even dance with him back then.
“I can be dangerous if I wanted,” she whispered with a menacing smile. He doesn’t know her secret. “You’re not intimidated by me?” he wondered and she scoffed.
He has done enough research about her. Credible background, never seen as a threat and living a normal life. He was told by her mother that she doesn't want anything to do with their illegal deeds but found herself in a predicament now.
“Goodbye, Mr. Galaz. I hope to never see you and your atrocious pink hair again. Maybe change your style and I might actually be scared of you for once.” He was left dumbfounded. Only when she pulled away he realized he was holding his breath.
She started walking away as their time was up and a new girl entered the room looking flustered and fixing her hair. She decided to walk slowly to listen to their conversation.
“You have lovely eyes, take a seat,” he complimented and her face turned even redder. Keisha could only roll her eyes listening to their conversation. What a sly fox he is.
“H-hi, my name is–” She forgot to introduce herself and she stood up from her seat a bit too close to the table, making it tip slightly over to his side.
Eros’ cup of tea tipped over and the liquid inside spilled on his pants. Upon hearing the commotion, Keisha stopped walking and turned around with a horrified expression on her face.
Fuck! She probably cursed a million times inside her head. He didn’t even get to sip his tea. She glared ever so slightly at the woman who ambushed her plan.
Eros stood up and coldly uttered, “Get out.” The woman was terrified by her stupid mistake. “But–” she tried to reason. “I said get out.” He emphasized every word as his voice got deeper. The woman bowed her head and rushed out the door in fear.
Keisha followed behind her feeling defeated. Yet another attempt failed.
When Eros was alone in the room, he sighed heavily while cleaning his dirty pants. Keisha was so different from the girls he interacted with and it fascinates him. He was indeed captivated by her charms. She even dared to hold his face and insult him right there.
Thinking about it made him chuckle. She has a backbone and he likes it.
She will be hard to handle, but what is life without a little challenge?
“Arrange a meeting with Keisha Lexington’s parents.”
“I cannot believe you will marry that man.” Shadow was frantic about this revelation and so was she. He paced back and forth in the room while she sat staring into the abyss. She knew she already fucked up when he was unable to drink the tea she poisoned. Now, she’s in deeper trouble. “What if I refuse?” she asked like it was a bright idea. “You think it’ll be easy to refuse such a request? You will be the insider we will use to know each move the mafia makes. They won’t let this opportunity pass. You’ll be the only pawn that will be able to reach their heads.” His explanation stresses her out the more she thinks about it. “Shadow–” She tried to call. “Don’t. Save it,” he uttered coldly before leaving the room and slamming the door behind him. She sighed heavily before clenching her fists. Shadow’s patience is long and even with how mad he is right now, he can’t lash out. Hours later, Keisha was still lost in thoughts. The door opened and her stepmother walked inside with a
"Shadow, no!" Keisha shouted as the maid following them shrieked. She immediately covered her mouth and bowed her head as Keisha stepped forward to stop Shadow's outburst. He was welcomed to the mansion to visit Keisha but after he arrived, he immediately attacked Eros. He's in dangerous territory but he did not care. "What did you do to her?!" Shadow shouted profusely as he pinned Eros to the ground. He breathed with fury seen in his eyes. His fist and jaw clenched in anger. Eros, on the other hand, was calm. Too calm for his own well-being. "Shadow, stop it." Keisha bent over and grabbed his shoulder. She leaned next to his ear and whispered, "Do you want us killed? I'm incapable of combat right now." Irritated, she lightly slapped his head. He breathed heavily before letting go of Eros and standing up. He turned to Keisha with a concerned face before hugging her. "I regret ignoring your calls. I should've been there and this wouldn't have happened…" he whispered with a sigh of r
KEISHA has been brushing her hair for half an hour while staring into oblivion. She needs to find a way to kill him quickly without raising suspicions but it’s far too risky for her to take this path. She has to play the waiting game, nothing she can do is safe. “M-Miss, the master has informed you to finish getting ready. I shall do your hair for you,” the maid approached but she raised her hand for her to stop. “No need, I’ll keep my hair down. You may leave.” She looked at herself in the mirror and found her face too thin. She needs to get back to her usual weight and gain her strength back if she wants to even have a chance to kill him. Avoid emotions, and focus on the mission. "Emotions are what makes people weak…" she whispered to herself. As she made her way down the long staircase of hell, she heard a loud bang downstairs. Her brows furrowed as she tried to figure out what had happened. She picked up her pace and her eyes landed on a woman wearing the same outfit as
"Greetings, Mr. Galaz," Reyna uttered with a glint of joy as her dress swayed as she walked. She was wearing a bright sparkly dress while Keisha looked as if she was going to attend a funeral. She was the sparkling sunshine while Keisha was the dark moonlight. "Thank you for taking care of my daughter," she uttered with much sincerity which made Keisha vomit. What a great actress this woman is. Keisha forced a smile as her mother caressed her back in front of the mafia boss. "It was my pleasure," Eros uttered before winking at her. She scoffed and crossed her arms, not hiding the fact of how displeased she was. "Shadow, why don't you come here?" Reyna requested as she blinked her lashes. Footsteps from behind echoed as everyone stayed silent inside the dining room. Keisha could only keep her gaze on Eros, knowing he might react strangely again. "My apologies for what happened," Shadow apologized as he held his hand on his left chest and bowed down to the mafia boss. That's rig
Keisha’s anxiousness grew as she kept overthinking whether or not Shadow was actually poisoned. She has no contact with the outside and she can’t ask Eros directly. Surely, he would not do that with two witnesses. His bride, and the mother of his bride. But he’s Eros, he can do whatever he wants to. The shimmering sunshine blinded her tired eyes. She did not notice it was already morning. She woke up past midnight and could not sleep anymore. She looked around and found a clock next to her bed indicating it was already six in the morning. She sighed heavily, got out of bed, and walked to the balcony window. She opened the glass doors and the cold morning air touched her skin. She was unbothered, she dealt with torture using dry ice. This was nothing. She walked further to the edge and leaned against the rails, watching over the mansion's lot. The garden was filled with lively flowers while the stables of horses were on the other side. A fountain worth a thousand gold was located i
"What was that?" Eros asked at the dining table. When his brother left and went upstairs, the two separated and quietly went to the dining area where their meals were prepared. The maids left after they settled down and this was when they could have a proper chat. "I heard your conversation. I helped you, and you are welcome," she cockingly uttered before cutting her steak. Eros watched her without doing anything else and she felt weirded out by him. "You heard everything?" he asked and she furrowed her brows. Is he worried she heard that she heard him say something about Keisha betraying him like the last one did? Of course, she heard it too. But it was like a missing puzzle piece, she doesn't know who the last one was or what role does that person play. "If you're not going to eat, leave me alone," she declared before clearing her throat. His stares are uncomfortable. She can't just stay silent either. She needs information but he's being too quiet for her to open a conversat
THE large mirror shattered as the woman threw her phone in its direction. She stared at her face in the broken mirror with missing pieces and cracks everywhere. She was furious at the fact that Eros proposed to another woman only a few weeks after they broke up. What's worse is he made it a public announcement. "How fucking dare he?!" she screamed in annoyance before sitting down on her chair. He definitely did it on purpose to make her blood boil! He proposed to that woman the moment she entered the mall. He's supposed to be hers, no one else's. How dare that woman take Eros away from her? She's an insignificant slut and it's time to teach her a lesson. "Where are they now?" She asked her assistant and the woman gave her the location. She composed herself before leaving her house to create yet another chaos in public. Dana Smith, a manipulator that is part of the underground world. That's how she met Eros, but he threw her away like they did not spend years together. He's cru
Earlier that day, James was following them around since he was curious about what these two were up to. When Keisha left the restaurant, he saw a man wearing a cap approach her. Of course, he couldn't hear their conversation and went closer to investigate. "I'm glad you're fine, Shadow," she whispered with joy. The genuine her. (What an odd name), he thought to himself. James stared at the two and Keisha was above the clouds to see this man again. Her hugs were tight and it was obvious she doesn't want to let go and so does he. Their relationship is a bond that can't be seen with Eros and Keisha. Those eyes, he's only seen that type of stare once in his life. Keisha's eyes were burning with true love, no matter what type it may be. After taking photos of them, he left. He didn't need to listen in on their conversation. AFTER leaving Eros' office with those photos left in his brother's care, he walked around the mansion while looking at old portraits. As he was strolling arou
IT WAS early in the morning and Keisha was waking up from her sleep. She groaned in frustration as she hugged what was next to her. "Eros…" she whispered as she stared at his sleeping face. She was falling back asleep when she suddenly opened her eyes and looked at who she was hugging. "A pillow? Hah," she muttered how ridiculous she was to hallucinate about Eros. She threw the pillow away and wrapped herself in her blanket. It's almost been a month since Eros was hospitalized and she has been handling things until he wakes up and recovers. She immediately took a bath and got ready before heading to the hospital. "How is he?" she asked after entering his hospital room and removing the cover she used. The doctors who checked on his progress informed her of the situation. "His body is recovering rather quickly, there is a good chance he will wake up soon," he muttered and she nodded her head. She sat by his side and held his hand. "I really hope you wake up soon," she whispered with
All day without rest, Keisha stayed by Eros' side in the hospital until the response of their enemy finally came in. "Do you think I can trust you to take care of him?" she asked with crossed arms as she eyed Reyna who just arrived at the hospital. "Do what you want. Someone will keep watch so don't do anything stupid," she muttered before standing up. "He's my son, Of course, I'd take care of him," Reyna responded firmly and Keisha sighed heavily and nodded her head. She had no intention to trust her with this but she has no choice but to leave. "Sebastian will be there," she informed her and waited for her answer. Reyna took a deep breath before looking over at Keisha with a raised eyebrow. "Are you planning to make a peaceful exchange or not?" Reyna asked curiously and as a response, Keisha shook her head and turned around for the door. "Kill him," Reyna told her as Keisha walked out of the room to face what was to come. That's the plan, to end things once and for all. No more
"YOU'RE not going to let him die, you understand me?!" Keisha slammed the doctor against the wall out of frustration. It's been hours since the surgery started and the doctors inside the operating room are yet to finish. "Yes, Mrs. Galaz, however, you also need to calm down and rest or else you'll also be hospitalized," the doctor reminded her with sympathy. "No one here survives unless Eros does. I would kill every single one of you–" Keisha, who was overpowered by her emotions, was pulled away from the poor doctor. She looked behind her and saw Shadow pulling on her and dragging her away. "Let me go!" she screamed and tried prying away but he held her firmly. "You need to fucking calm down," he whispered to her as he pushed her against the wall and held her hand together. Still stubborn, she tried retaliating again. "Do you think you're helping by causing a ruckus?! Eros is being operated on and you're over here threatening the doctors!" he screamed, finally making her pause and
"It's been a while since we have laid down together," Keisha muttered as she squeezed herself closer to Eros who was just a breath away. Under the blankets of his bedroom, they were hugging each other. She can feel his breath touching her skin. "Y-yeah," he murmured and her brows furrowed slightly. She looked up and saw Eros just staring above her head into nothing. Keisha pushed him slightly and looked at him with confusion. "Are you alright?" she asked out of concern. "Yeah?" he answered unsurely with a nervous smile. "Now that I look at it, you don't seem well. Do you have a fever?" She raised her hand, checked his forehead's temperature, and found it hotter than usual. Eros was also sweating which made her more concerned. "I'll get you medicine–" Eros grabbed her hand and put it back beneath the blanket before hugging her tightly. "I feel this way because we haven't been together like this in a long time. Just let me enjoy our moment," he murmured sweet nothings that made
It was past dusk and Keisha just arrived at the computer lab of the mansion where James had been working countless hours to retrieve whatever was in the USB drive that Ellaine handed her. "What's wrong with your face?" she immediately asked after noticing the bruise on his face. He closed his eyes and clenched his jaw before glaring at her. "Why do you think?! Eros almost killed me because you told him we accidentally kissed!" he shouted, already in a bad mood and she added more to his stress. Keisha only chuckled before sitting down on the chair next to him and looking at the computer. "Cracking the code is almost done, that's why I called you in." He cleared his throat before typing. She leaned back and watched closely how he was hacking into it. It was unbelievable how much security a small USB drive has. "Where's my brother anyway?" he asked and she shrugged. Eros has been gone since earlier because of well… preparations for the possible attack. It's dangerous so everyone has
"Do you wish to braid your hair today, Ms. Keisha?" Edith, who was brushing her hair, asked with a sweet tone and she simply nodded in response. The vibe in the mansion seemed to have been better ever since Eros revealed he was alive. This lunch, she'll be meeting someone important. "It's a shame our friend got transferred elsewhere," Keisha muttered, a little disappointed that Taylor was moved to another department a month or so ago. Now it's only one person helping and serving her. However, the mafia boss promised to make a salary increase to help support her family. "How about you? What's your goal?" Keisha suddenly asked and the latter paused. It seems there was a lot for her to stop what she was doing. "I don't really know… I'm glad I was saved. An illegitimate daughter like me doesn't have many goals," Edith answered with a chuckle. (Ah, that's right… She's living for herself only. No one else has her back…) Keisha thought to herself, feeling pity. She knows how that feels, b
DAIMON was in his office chatting with Shadow as they planned for defense instead of offense. If anyone was to make the first move to attack, it would be the enemies. "I've been so busy that I haven't seen Keisha in such a long time," he muttered while they were on break drinking coffee. "Why not visit tomorrow?" Daimon questioned and the latter nodded his head. He's been so caught up in his own problems that he keeps brushing over visiting his partner in crime, the reason he was able to be here in the first place. Keisha was the only woman he wanted to protect yet now that the possibility that his sister is alive… His focus went to his sister. The odds of the mansion being attacked is low yet they still need to be prepared. "The mafia is split in half because of Eros' sudden reappearance… Some are reluctant to side with him yet he is powerful enough to reassure them," Daimon stated his thoughts with a sigh. "What about you?" Shadow asked and the man looked at him with a curious
REYNA crushed yet another piece of paper that suddenly appeared inside her room. No matter where and when she looked, she could not find who the culprit was. Someone's threatening their safety that knows its way around the mansion. "This is not good," she whispered to herself. It's almost two in the morning and she is sleepless. The mansion promised to be safe is turning into a time bomb. "I really need to talk to Eros," she whispered to herself with frustration before her anxiety made her search her room for a second time in case it was bugged. However, she did not find anything again. When the sun came up, she was restless, and without a doubt, her mind filled with questions and concerns she wanted to bring out the moment she meet Eros. Before she left her room, she blocked the door from the inside and if anyone tries to break in, the items would be out of place. However, when was told that breakfast was served, the only ones there were Daimon and his little brother who was havi
DAIMON sighed heavily before leaning back on the bench. "Why don't you play a bit more?" he sweetly asked his little brother so the two of them can be alone to talk. The kid obliged and once he was far enough, he turned to Keisha with a serious look. "There's one more thing you need to know," he started off. Keisha raised an eyebrow expecting some news. He cleared his throat before revealing what he knew. "We might've found Shadow's sister and already contacted her." Keisha's eyes widened and she covered her mouth. She couldn't believe what she just heard. "What?" she asked with wide eyes, that was all she could say. "Shadow is obsessed to know if she is actually his sister. He's doing everything he can to make the DNA test happen." She breathed heavily as her eyes kept shifting. "Is that why he hasn't been here since?" He nodded his head and she inhaled sharply. "I know he'll do anything to find his sister. There's always been the slightest bit of hope in him to find her alive,"
