Reina had a bad feeling about this. She gritted out, “Yes.”

Gerald nodded. Calmly, he said, “Since you offered, Ms. Reina, that means you were ready to spend the money. Isn’t that right?”

The place suddenly plunged into silence as Reina’s face went ashen.

Ivan understood what Gerald meant. It seemed that he was quite reliable after all.

“Mr. Gerald is right. Reina, you wanted to use North to make yourself look generous but got mad at her for spending too much of your money.”

Everyone around them nodded. That was right. Was it not expected that one would be spending money when treating someone else to lunch? It was unreasonable to do so and then blame one’s guest for ordering too much.
