Nicole Jane’s POV
“You behave there, okay? Don’t worry, we’ll always call you,” Mom said.I just rolled my eyes and plugged in my earphones. I was tired of their reminders.Since the day they told me about my fiancé, they hadn’t mentioned anything about it again. They didn’t even give me a chance to speak again because they suddenly left at that time.I also asked them about it several times whenever I had the chance because I was really felt uneasy. But they didn’t really give any other explanation. Up to now, I’m still hoping that what they were saying wasn’t true.I don’t know what my parents were thinking to put me in such a precarious situation. I haven’t even been in a relationship or even admired a single man in my entire life. Then they’ll just break the news that I will be married off to someone? Then out of the blue, they broke another news to me. That I’m going to transfer to who knows where. They didn’t even tell me what the school was called nor where it even was. They were deciding to transfer me on my last year of senior high.Just great.I looked outside the window. All I could see were tall buildings. While the people around were busy with their own activities. My lips thinned. The fact that I don’t have any idea on where we were going made me feel anxious.Truth be told, I refused to leave at first. But the moment they told me that they were going to cut my allowances and leave me with nothing, I shut up.Though I didn’t believe in them at first. The thing is that they left me alone in our house for a week without any extra money on hand! They can be in any part of the world for all I care. But as long as I had my allowance with me. What was going to happen to my adventurous life if I didn’t have the money I needed, right? That reason alone led me to this kind of situation. It’s all thanks to my loving parents. We have been traveling for some time now. I didn’t even have the chance to memorize the routes we took because it took too many turns.Right until the view of the roads were replaced by tall trees. The whole area around me was almost entirely covered by green, and I couldn’t see a single house standing anywhere.I didn’t really know the place. The last city we passed was so far away. It would have taken maybe more than an hour to reach it from this place.“Don’t tell me that the school where I’m going to transfer to is somewhere in the middle of the forest?” I unplugged my earphones and asked them in disbelief. It didn’t seem to suit me to study just anywhere. The school I used to attend was prestigious, where most of the students were children of businessmen or politicians. Then all of a sudden they were transferring me to an unknown school? They both looked at each other. But before I could ask again, I was stunned when I saw from not far away the two towering golden gates.“Wow,” I whispered in amusement as we get nearer. But I didn’t let my parents see my amazement for fear of what they were going to think and say.To be fair, the gates did look expensive. Let’s see what they had on the inside. When we stopped at the gates, they slowly opened up from the middle, clearing the way for us to go inside.Welcome To Clarkson AcademyThose words were engraved at the bottom of a statue that looks like a warrior with a cape and riding a horse were the first thing that caught my attention as soon as we entered. It actually sounds familiar. I just can’t remember where I heard the name of this school.I was amazed to see the huge stone buildings. They were colored white and chocolate. They had sliding windows and each hallway had pillars.I would have mistaken the place to more of a vintage palace rather than an academy, because its structure and design was so classy and elegant. It looked like a place for a royal family. In addition to that are the guards outside that caught my eye before we finally got inside earlier. Security seemed to be very tight here as well.I haven’t seen any students around yet. It was still too early, so maybe they were still in their respective dorm rooms.Dad stopped the car in front of the main building, then we all stepped out. I looked up at it and saw the big round clock on top of it.I hugged myself as a strong, cold breeze blew. Because of this, you wouldn’t feel the heat of the weather in this place. Even the sky was a bit overcast. After all, the whole area was located at an elevated area, add to that the towering trees that surrounded the place.I didn’t know why, but this school felt creepy. Sometimes something too perfect on the outside can be scary, because you couldn’t quite see what was hidden inside of it.I was about to ask Dad when I spotted an elderly man approaching our direction. He was wearing a black hat and suit with a white polo shirt inside. His eyes are narrow, and he had a small beard on his chin. He was tall but a bit thin.I blinked. I may have sounded weird, but I could sense a strange aura from him.He smiled as he approached us. But I didn’t know why I was suddenly horrified by the way he looked at us— especially when he looked directly at me.Another thing I noticed about him was the color of his skin. I wouldn’t say it was white— a bit pale, maybe. Perhaps they didn’t get much of the sun due to the cold climate of the area.“Good day! Mr. and Mrs. Parker,” he greeted my parents in a cold deep voice before he turned to me.Was the coldness in his voice also due to the climate here?“Same to you, Young Miss.” He stared at me intently. There’s something in the way he looked at me that made me smile at him, even though I had no intention of doing so.Why would I in the first place?“You take care of our daughter. We know that you will be able to watch over her better here. Please let us know if anything happens,” Dad said seriously, which surprised me.What did he mean by that? Were they leaving me at this isolated place because they were tired of taking care of me?Something felt wrong. In fact, our maids took better care of me at home because both of them were often abroad. So why did they have to move me here?“Of course, we will.” The middle-aged man bowed at my parents.I was stunned. He seemed too polite.“Thank you.”Dad seemed to breathe a sigh of relief before he faced me. He took out something in his pocket. I stared at it and found out that it’s a necklace. It is golden one and has a crescent moon pendant. He motioned for me to turn around, so I did. Then I felt the touch of a cold metal object on my neck.I turned around to face both of them, confused. I was surprised when they both suddenly hugged me.I froze where I stood. All my life, this was the first time they held me like this.“Whatever happens, don’t take it off,” Dad sternly warned. My forehead furrowed but I didn’t speak.“Always remember how much we love you, darling.” There’s a hint of sadness in Mom’s voice.I fought to stop my tears from falling. I couldn’t believe what was happening. It was also the first time that I heard them say that they loved me. That’s why I couldn’t figure out what I was supposed to feel.I may be a rebellious daughter. But that didn’t mean that I didn’t love them at all. Because the truth is, I really do.But because I grew up and got used to them not always being by my side, I kind of buried that feeling towards them. Although I admit that hearing those words from them softened my heart.“Please, always take care. And no matter what happens and what you find out, always remember how much we love you. We only want what is best for you,” Mom said as we pulled out from the hug.I just absent-mindedly nodded before looking away. I didn’t know the right words to say to them.Dad patted my head. “I know that there’s a part of you that hates us. But when the right time comes, you’ll realize the reasons why we did those things to you. When that happens, we hope that you’ll understand.”To be honest, I was confused by how they were acting and what they were saying. But I just kept quiet and didn’t ask any more questions. After we said goodbye to each other, they handed my things to another staff who came over. They both kissed me on my forehead before they left.My gaze followed them until I couldn’t see their car anymore. I turned to the middle-aged man who was still standing in front of me now.“Welcome to Clarkson Academy, Miss Nicole!” He bowed down once again.I raised an eyebrow when he called me by my name. I didn’t like the fact that he sounded as if we knew each other for a long time. But my forehead furrowed when I noticed my own car heading towards our direction.Yes. I have my own car already. It was my parents’ birthday present to me from that night of my debut. It was a peach-colored Porsche Taycan. It stopped right in front of me and whoever was driving it stepped out and approached me.“Your parents sent it, so you can use it in case you ever think of going to the city every weekend,” explained the slightly slender man, even though I wasn’t asking. Our ages wouldn’t have been that far apart, I thought. His skin color is also pale, but his lips were quite red.I just nodded. Actually, I also noticed all the cars in the parking lot that we passed earlier. Surely, you can’t go out to the city if you don’t have your own car. I have to walk all the way there if ever. Why did this academy have to be at this far-off location anyway?“Thanks.”He bowed down, then got into my car again to park it somewhere. I turned to face the man who greeted me earlier when he suddenly spoke.“I am Butler Ernesto Lin by the way. Is it okay with you if I showed you around the whole place first? Our other staff will take care of bringing your things up to your room.”I thought before I looked at him. It was as if the sight of him became scary even though he was smiling. But in the end I just agreed to his suggestion.“Sure.”We went to every building here. As well as the open field, gymnasium, dining hall, swimming pool area, library, music room and everywhere else. I was even amazed at their colorful garden with different kinds of flowers, most especially those that I had only seen for the first time. There were also many places to hang out here. It was a good place to relax, or to just get some peace of mind. But what caught my attention the most was the forest that was inside. He strictly told me never to go there.Since I really don’t feel the need to follow any of the rules and also loved the thrill of adventure, I couldn’t allow myself not to go inside that place.I knew that there was something hidden behind those tall trees.“I’d give up on trying to go inside that place, if I were you. You don’t have any idea what you’ll find inside.”I stopped and looked at him.Was he a some kind of mind reader? He shook his head. “I’m not a mind reader. It’s obvious from the expression on your face what you’re thinking,” he explained as my jaw dropped. Was I really that easy to read?I was still deep in thought until we headed to my room. I noticed that there were two dormitory buildings here. At first, I thought that men and women were separated, but I found out it wasn’t.Both dormitories were divided by a grand staircase that had a red carpet. The girl’s room was on the right side, while the boy’s room was on the left. It also has a lounge area where we could watch TV and hang out according to Butler Lin.What I really wondered was what the difference is if both boys and girls were together in the same dormitory apart from the color of the buildings— ours was pure white while the other one was chocolate in color.I couldn’t help but suspect something. Maybe those on the other side had special treatment? We started climbing and continued to the third floor. I stopped walking when he suddenly stopped in front of a door. This would probably be my room.“This is your room, Young Miss. Your belongings and car keys are already inside. Even your uniforms and the list of your schedules are already placed on your table.”I nodded. I was also impressed by the excellent service— they were so hands-on when it came to the needs of the students here.He handed me my key. I bid my thanks to him, and I was about to open the door when he held my arm to stop me.I quickly withdrew my arm. Not because I was surprised. But because his hand was so cold.It was really weird.“Why are your hands cold?” I couldn’t stop asking. He suddenly stood up straight and gasped.“It is normal for us to be a bit cold in this place.”I frowned at his seemingly philosophical answer. But I was stunned when I noticed the sudden seriousness of his face. He was quick to change his mood.“I just want to give you something.” The coldness in his voice made me shiver. I just realized that his hand seemed as cold as his voice. He gave me a bracelet that I hesitantly accepted. It was silver with two fang pendants.“That will serve as your protection, so you must always wear it. Just like the necklace you are wearing now, don’t take it off or let it go. Those will serve as your identification.”I took a step back when I heard the threat in his voice.I looked down on the bracelet that he gave me. What was up with these accessories that they were giving me, and why were they both so important? At the same time as I looked up at him, a strong wind blew. Then suddenly, the man in front of me was gone.Nicole Jane’s POVI only had forty minutes left before my first class starts. So, I quickly got inside my room. I hadn’t been able to take everything out of my suitcase because I didn’t have much time to put them on the cabinet. Why did I have to move here right on the first day of school?I am now standing beside my bed with my arms crossed, staring at the necklace and bracelet laid on top of it.There was another bed here near the window. So, I was sure that two students could occupy the room. Although I was happy because I was still the only one occupying it right now.“Whatever happens, don’t take it off.”“That will serve as your protection, so you must always wear it.”Until now, I could still hear their reminders, although I didn’t fully understand yet what they were for.But I just realized. If these two were really that important, then I shouldn’t wear them and just keep it in a safe place instead, because I just might end up losing them both eventually.I winced as I again f
Nicole Jane’s POVI froze on the spot upon hearing his deep cold voice. My heart was pumping so loudly against my chest, and I couldn’t even make a single move. When I finally had the courage to take a step back, my eyes widened in horror when he suddenly showed up in front of me.Wait. How the hell did that happened? I didn’t even notice him pass me by!My mouth dropped open, and I couldn’t help but be stunned when I was able to observe him freely. He was so damn tall that will make you look up at him. He also had pale skin, red lips, pointed nose and a pair of brown eyes. Also, that messy hair of his doesn’t look bad at all because it suited him perfectly. His hands were both buried in his pockets, and he was wearing a plain white shirt with a black leather jacket hanging on his right shoulder. It was paired with a brown pants that he finished off with a black converse.I blinked when he smirked, revealing his deep dimples. It felt like I was going to pass out any moment from now.“
Nicole Jane’s POVI was startled when I heard a series of knocks on the door. I didn’t have any intention of bothering with it. But it seemed like whoever was disturbing me had no plans of stopping.“Wait a moment!”I lazily got up and rubbed my eyes. Once I stood, I immediately headed towards the door and opened it for whoever was on the other side.“What is—” I wasn’t able to finish my sentence because Mikan suddenly hugged me.“What the? Get away from me!” I quickly pushed her away, and luckily she let go immediately.“Geez, you push so hard! While you’re the one who just woke up and hasn’t even taken a shower yet.” She pouted, then went ahead inside on her own.My eyes widened as she went straight to my bed and lay down.I was about to pull her out when I glanced at the round clock hanging on the wall. I gasped as I noticed that it was already past seven thirty in the morning. Our time is at eight o‘clock!I quickly grabbed my things and went into the bathroom. I can’t believe I t
Nicole Jane’s POV“Are you really sure you’re okay? I’m sorry earlier for not being able to help you.”Mikan kept on talking beside me with her head bowed down. Since our class ended, she didn’t stop talking even though I wasn’t paying any attention to her.I don’t have any ill feelings towards her. Honestly, it’s better that she didn’t do anything earlier. The thing is, she’s too kind. I’m just not used to someone talking to me and being concerned like this. It feels weird.“I’m really fine. Besides, I’m not expecting any help because I don’t even need it.” I crossed my arms. She looked up at me this time.“One more thing is that, I can handle those girls by myself. If Kyle didn’t show up, they would’ve surely regretted it,” I determinedly replied.I continued walking, and suddenly she screamed beside me. Other students around us turned to our direction.I turned to her with a puzzled expression. Did I say something wrong?“Do you know how adorable the two of you were earlier? Especi
Miley’s POVI couldn’t help but smile as we walked down the hallway towards Nics’ room. Thankfully, we managed to convince my brother to agree to what Reiri and I wanted. I thought it would be difficult to persuade him, but it seems he can be swayed by a little bit of drama.“I don’t really understand my brother. It seems that he doesn’t really like Nics at all,” Rei said, confused. She looked up, seemingly lost in deep thought. Vince was the one who strongly opposed when we asked for permission earlier.I shrugged. “Me too. But we both know that Vince and Kyle are both aloof.”Honestly, I’m also puzzled as to why Vince suddenly gets annoyed whenever we mention or talk about Nics in front of them. But before heading straight to Nics’ room, we stopped by the main office of the academy to get a duplicate key to her room.Yes, we took it without asking. They can’t do anything about it anyway. We’re sure she’ll ask again how we managed to open her door. She might start suspecting us, and
Nicole Jane’s POV“Whose car are we going to use? Yours or mine?”We don’t have class in our last two subjects for today. That’s why I decided to go into town to buy some supplies and other personal needs as well.Aside from weekends, we can also go out of the academy on weekdays. We just need to make sure to return before seven in the evening.Truth be told, for a boarding school, the rules here were not that strict. Now I wonder why.The reason I thought of bringing Mikan along is that I’m not yet familiar with the places nearby and even the way itself. Imagine the shock on her face when I informed her about it.I was about to answer her question when suddenly, she speaks again.“Let’s use mine. I’m going to be your tour guide for today!” she said excitedly.I just shook my head and continued to walk until we reach the parking lot.“Maybe you can tour me next time. We also need to return quickly.” Her face showed resistance, but she nodded in agreement.Almost all the students here
Nicole Jane’s POV“I still couldn’t believe of what happened. It seemed like some kind of kidnapping case,” Mikan said out of the blue.None of the three of us commented on what she said because we were all deep in thought. We are now on our way back to the academy. I looked outside the window, while Kyle’s resting his head on the car window on the other side. Kira’s focused on driving, and Mikan’s busy doing something on her phone. After the incident earlier, Kyle quickly pulled me out. When I turned around, I saw Mikan being pulled by Kira. I didn’t notice him earlier. These friends are really weird because they suddenly appear out of nowhere. They’re like Miley and Reiri. As we stepped out, they looked around as if searching for something. I did the same, even though I didn’t know what or who I was looking for. Until my attention focused on a man. He’s standing in front of a post far away from us and wearing a hoodie. I couldn’t see his face. But I’m sure he’s looking at us. Then I
Miley’s POVI am watching attentively while trying to maintain a heightened sense of awareness. We can come to the palace anytime we want. It’s just that they shouldn’t see us now or know what we’re doing. We might lose the opportunity to uncover the truth even more. But my concentration is being disrupted by the two noisy vampires beside me.“Could you guys please be quiet? Dad might hear and see us,” I softly scolded Reiri and Hiro. They’ve been arguing with each other since earlier. I don’t know what the problem is this time. But they’re just so irritating. They’re always like that, never agreeing with each other. They really should be separated.“We can just teleport, you know,” Hiro said, trying to lighten the mood. I gave him a disapproving look. Did he really think that would work with Dad? Especially since his teleportation ability can only cover short distances.“I forgot. Among the three of us, you’re the only one who can go to faraway places,” he said, but his attention is
Miley’s POVTwo weeks after Kyle’s proposalI glanced at my watch and saw that it was already 7 PM. If I’m not mistaken, the party started at 6 PM.After waiting for a few more minutes, I finally finished taking care of the things I needed to do at school. I quickly ran out of the building and headed towards my parked car to go to my next destination.Today is the university’s graduation party, held at a nearby bar downtown. Kira and Mikan were already there. The truth is, I didn’t have any plans to go because I haven’t graduated yet, although I am allowed to attend. The reason I changed my mind is because I wanted to surprise them.Yesterday was their graduation, and today is their post-graduation celebration. It’s nice because all the royalties were present yesterday, including Kira’s parents. They left just this morning.I parked my car in an empty slot at the parking lot. I quickly got out and walked straight into the bar. The security guard let me in as soon as I showed him my un
Reiri’s POVTwo years after senior high school graduationWe are now on our way to the city. A smile has never left my lips since we left. Because I finally got the chance to wander around and mingle with humans. This is one of the things that I have been wishing to experience for a long time.Summer break is really one of my favorite long days.I took a glance at the guy beside me. I was surprised to notice that he was already looking at me.My eyes fell to where his right hand was. I saw it slowly crawl towards mine, and when our hands finally met, he intertwined our fingers. We just looked at each other. Gradually, he started to smile too. Everything feels so perfect. Until...“How many times do I have to tell you that holding hands is not allowed?”But just like any other dream, you will suddenly wake up to the truth, and the fairy tale-like story will come to an end. The feeling is so enchanting that it makes me forget that it’s not just the two of us who are here.I glared in my
Nicole Jane’s POVOne week after college graduationI woke up with the feeling of someone tickling my foot. I opened my eyes only to close them again when sunlight came into view through the window. I turned around and opened them again.“Good morning, best!”The drowsiness I felt vanished immediately upon seeing her. I even rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn’t just imagining things. But I’m not. She’s really here!“Mikan!”I got up from my bed and hugged her tightly. I didn’t care if I looked disheveled with strands of hair scattered across my face. I heard her chuckle.“What’s with the sudden visit? You were just here last week, right?”I didn’t really expect to see her right now. They just came last week along with Miley and Kira for our college graduation. But they left the next day, so I don’t know why she’s here again today. She smiled. Even her eyes seemed to be smiling and sparkling in a way I couldn’t understand.I tried to recall a certain event that was supposed to happen r
Third Person’s POVBook of ProphecyTHEY DIED. Not because it was their end, but because it was just the beginning. After a hundred years, the two most powerful beings with matching red marks would be simultaneously reborn into the world on the day of the eclipse. They would bring an end to the conflict between good and evil vampires and spread peace and balance in the world. One of them will be reborn as a vampire, descending from one of the most powerful lineages. On the other hand, the other will return as a human, originating from the lineage of one of the mighty protectors of the long-lost, powerful vampire clan in this world. However, despite this, they are still destined to meet and fall in love again to continue their interrupted marriage and unite their forces that were cut short due to their deaths in their past lives. But along with the reappearance of the eclipse in the world comes the resurgence of their memories and powers that were lost. Because of this, a new conflict w
Third Person’s POVON THE other side, Miley and the others made their simultaneous entrance. Their arrival was timely, as the opposing forces had yet to engage in combat. They glared menacingly at them, especially at Althea, who wore a sinister grin. Gone was the sweet and bubbly Althea they once knew.Kyle’s claws lengthened and sharpened. He carefully placed Nicole down from his back.“Just sit back and relax, babe. I can handle this.”Nicole wanted to protest, but she felt something different within herself, so she remained silent. It was a different feeling from earlier. She knew that within a few minutes, she would be able to assist Kyle as well. That thought made her smile.Kyle’s eyes turned blood-red. Veins started popping out as a surge of intense emotions coursed through him.“Let’s end this battle now, Hans. And this time, it will be certain.”Hans Croven nodded, undeterred by fear.“But of course. I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time already.”Without hesitati
Third Person’s POVALMOST everyone Athena encountered fell to the ground as she put them to sleep. She would then chant a spell, and in an instant, all the fledglings turned to ashes. Meanwhile, Gino rained bullets upon their enemies until they turned into dust. He and Steph had matching guns specially made for the protectors. But they stopped in their tracks when they noticed that Althea seemed to be simply watching the ongoing battle. What puzzled them even more was that none of the enemies were attacking her.“Althea!” Athena called out to her sister as she approached. Althea slowly lifted her gaze in their direction. And they were not prepared for the sinister grin they saw on her lips.“Althea, what—” Athena couldn’t finish her sentence as in an instant, Althea was in front of her, choking her.Meanwhile, Gino, from a short distance, stopped and briefly looked in their direction. He was completely shocked and almost dropped his gun due to what he witnessed.“Shit!” He was about t
Third Person’s POVKYLE obliged to what Nicole wants. All of them inside the room almost held their breath at the unexpected sight. Nicole’s parents couldn’t help but cry. They knew that this would happen, but not this soon. When Kyle fulfilled Nicole’s request, everyone was startled by a sudden loud explosion from outside.“What’s that?” Miley asked, her eyes alert. The door of the room they were in swung open forcefully, revealing Nick— the leader of the Vampire Hunters. “They’re here already. There are too many of them.” His worried expression is evident on his face. The king simply nodded, clenching his fist. It seemed like their original plan didn’t work. They had planned to attack the place where Hans Croven was conducting experiments on the newly converted vampires. They had known about his resurrection for a while now.Two can play this game. If he knew about them, they also knew about him. But they were too late. They failed to stop the evolution of the new form of the fledgl
Reiri’s POV“Let’s go back already. I think we’ve gone too far,” I suggested, looking at everyone, but they all just shrugged.“Why? Are you afraid now, princess?” Hiro teased, and I simply rolled my eyes.“Whatever.”Steph laughed. “You two, I feel like even if you end up married, you’ll still bicker all the time.” She shook her head.“Well, that’s if they end up with each other.”I glanced at my brother and furrowed my brow. Why was he like that? Did he forget that he still owes me an apology?Hiro scratched his head. “You joke around too much, best friend. By the way, when we get back from here, you’re leaving already, right?” His words suddenly turned serious, and we all became solemn because of what Hiro said.I saw a sudden sadness in Steph’s eyes. Why did my brother have to leave? His drama of finding himself was just too much.“Yeah. Don’t worry. It won’t take long. I’ll also pay our parents a visit,” he said while looking at Steph. She averted her gaze and stared at the gentl
Someone’s POV“Where do you think you’re going?”I stopped walking and almost went deaf as she shouted at me.“I-I’m just going out to get some fresh air,” I replied, making an excuse. She narrowed her eyes at me. “Do you think you can fool me? Don’t even attempt to escape because if you do, I’ll be forced to kill you.” You could hear the threat in her voice.I bit my lower lip. That was not an option. If I were to die, I needed to tell them the truth first.I slowly turned away, avoiding her scrutinizing gaze.“Don’t worry. I have no intention of escaping. Besides, what chance do I have against you, right?” I needed to convince her that I was on her side. It was the only way to stay safe for now.“Indeed. Go back to your room now. You’re not allowed to leave until the fated battle tomorrow. You know what will happen to you if you disobey,” she warned.I was about to protest, but I had to prioritize my thoughts now. With that, I nodded and walked back to my room. I needed to figure ou
