This afternoon, while visiting his father’s office, Ethan accidentally ran into Evan. Both had their own matters to discuss with Raphael, who is the head of a shipping and oil company.
After discussing work for a while, Raphael, who hadn’t had lunch yet, invited his son and nephew to one of the restaurants nearby.
“How’s work, Ethan? Everything going smoothly?” Raphael started the conversation.
“So far, so good, Dad. I just hope there aren't any more issues like before.”
“Did you have a problem before?” Evan asked, curious.
It seemed that his cousin hadn’t mentioned anything about this to him. As two close brothers, Ethan and Evan often shared their troubles and problems with each other. That’s why Evan was wondering, or maybe he had just missed this particular story.
“It wasn’t specifically my issue. But it was about a hospital that was sabotaged. Some medications were intentionally altered by the supplier to damage the hospital’s reputation.”
“Wow! Were there any victims? I mean, if someone with diabetes was given heart medication, that would be malpractice.”
Ethan nodded. “There were three patients who were affected. Fortunately, they received prompt treatment and their conditions weren’t fatal.”
“Oh my God,” Raphael said, shaking his head. It’s frightening to imagine being a patient who ends up being a victim of someone else’s crime without knowing.
“So, were the culprits caught?” Raphael asked.
“Yes,” Ethan nodded. “One of the culprits was even a doctor at the hospital. But everything has been handled properly by the authorities.”
“That’s a relief. By the way, speaking of marriage, how’s your family life, El?” Raphael shifted the topic, although he had been wanting to ask this from the beginning.
“My family life is fine. It’s only been three days.”
“But so far, you’re treating them fairly, right?”
Ethan just nodded. He wasn’t about to tell his father that he was still sleeping on the sofa when he was in Amelia’s room. “Yes, of course.”
“So where are you putting Amelia, Ethan? In your Park Avenue apartment or Senopati?” Evan asked.
As far as Evan knew, Ethan had several apartment units and even luxury houses besides the one he lived in now. It was unlikely that he wouldn’t give one of them to his newlywed wife.
However, when asked, Ethan didn’t answer right away. He was silent for a moment, seemingly deep in thought. After Evan repeated the question, Ethan finally spoke.
“Amelia is staying in Pondok Indah.”
“You mean, living in the same house as Flora?”
Ethan nodded.
“Oh my God.” This time, Raphael and Evan both exclaimed in shock. They were both surprised by Ethan’s revelation.
“How could you let both your wives live under the same roof?”
“Isn’t it okay, Dad? Besides, Flora arranged everything. Amelia didn’t protest.”
“Is it really just a matter of not protesting or does she not have the opportunity to voice her opinion?” Raphael retorted sharply.
“The law does permit it, but you should first ask Amelia if she’s willing to live in the same house as Flora. It’s better to separate their living arrangements to avoid jealousy or discomfort. If you’re reluctant to put Amelia in your apartment, I’d be happy to accommodate her in my home.”
“Don’t be ridiculous!”
“Well, I’m afraid you don’t want to separate them because you worry one of them will be alone. Besides, if you’re worried, just hire a housekeeper to accompany Amelia in her new place. You’re rich, Ethan. You could even afford to pay for ten housekeepers at once.”
Ethan sighed. He then started to consider what his father and cousin had said. It really was unfortunate if Amelia had to live in the same place as Flora.
“Besides, aren’t your house and several of your apartments close by? So distance shouldn’t be an issue, right?” Evan continued.
Raphael nodded, agreeing with Evan’s point. Moreover, he felt it was unfair if Ethan’s second wife was treated differently from his first.
“You decided to get married, so you should be responsible for taking care of and protecting both your wives, El. I don’t want you to be unfair to them.”
“Yes, Dad. I’ll think about this.”
“Don’t just think about it,” Raphael’s voice rose with emphasis. “This is a must. I want you to prepare separate living arrangements for Amelia as soon as possible. Provide for her needs just as you do for Flora. Don’t treat them differently. This is why I warned you from the beginning that polygamy is not easy. There must be fairness in every decision you make. And your wives must be willing to accept the decisions you’ve made.”
Ethan took a deep breath. From now on, he would have a lot of work to do to avoid making mistakes. Making the wrong decisions could complicate his family life.

With the help of Ethan's personal driver, Amelia finally arrived at her husband's house precisely at five in the evening. From now on, Clara decided that her twin sister would come home earlier than usual to settle in and take on her new role as a wife.
Clara wanted her sister's job outside the home not to interfere with her duties as a wife. That's why, as soon as she learned that Ethan's driver was waiting in the lobby of the boutique, Clara hurriedly asked Amelia to stop her work and prepare to head home.
"Risma, has Flora not come home yet?" Amelia asked as she entered the kitchen and saw the housekeeper arranging some dining utensils in the drawer.
"Yes, Ma'am. Mrs. Flora might come home late."
Amelia simply nodded and walked towards the refrigerator. She glanced over the freezer and vegetable storage box, contemplating what dishes she might want to prepare for dinner later.
"Are you cooking again, Mrs. Amelia?" the housekeeper asked.
"Yes. I'm thinking about what would be good for dinner tonight."
Amelia stood in front of the refrigerator for a while. Shortly after, she reached into the freezer to take out a box of fillet meat. She also grabbed some eggs and various vegetables, which she took to the sink, washing them one by one until they were clean. She then began cutting and preparing them for cooking.
"So, Mrs. Amelia, what are you cooking for dinner? Let me help," Risma offered.
"I’m going to make something simple—fried rice and beef black pepper."
"Oh, that sounds good. Fried rice is Mr. Ethan’s favorite."
"It seems like everyone loves fried rice."
Risma nodded in agreement. The dish is simple to make and widely liked because it’s so common. While helping cut the ingredients, Risma continued chatting next to Amelia.
"Mrs. Flora asks for fried rice for Mr. Ethan at least once or twice a week. Sometimes, when she gets bored, she asks to buy seafood fried rice from a restaurant."
"Does Mrs. Flora never cook herself?" Amelia asked as she continued working on the ingredients.
"Never," Risma shook her head. "Since I started working here, Mrs. Flora has never cooked. She says she can’t cook. That’s why she hired a housekeeper who specializes in Indonesian and Chinese food. Mr. Ethan really likes local dishes. Mrs. Flora, on the other hand, prefers Chinese food."
Amelia nodded. She had known since their friendship began that her friend preferred Chinese and Middle Eastern food, and didn’t like Indonesian dishes that use many spices or coconut milk.
"Mr. Ethan would be very pleased if he got home-cooked meals like this every day," Risma remarked casually.
"Oh, really?"
"Yes. Mr. Ethan prefers home-cooked meals over eating out or from restaurants. Didn’t you notice this morning? The porridge was completely gone. Usually, for breakfast, he just eats bread or fruit and milk."
Amelia smiled. She had seen how her husband enjoyed the meals she prepared in the morning, a similar sight to what she had observed when they were closer before officially becoming married.
"But, ma'am..." Risma continued. "How do you know Mr. Ethan's favorite foods? Have you and Mrs. Flora known each other for a long time?"
Amelia just smiled and didn’t answer Risma's question.
"Sorry if my question is too forward."
"It’s fine. No worries. By the way, the fried rice and beef black pepper are ready. Please set them on the table. After that, fry some eggs. I’m going upstairs to shower and get ready."
After giving her quick instructions, Amelia headed to her room to clean up and prepare for dinner.
Meanwhile, elsewhere, after finishing all his tasks at his father's office, Ethan decided to head home. This time, Evan, his cousin, joined him on the way back. Evan had to stop by to pick up some important documents related to the business he and Ethan had been working on recently."Good evening, Sir," Risma greeted as she opened the door."Is Flora home yet?" Ethan asked as he entered the house, with Evan following behind him."Mrs. Flora is not home yet, Sir. But Mrs. Amelia is already home and in her room."Ethan nodded and walked towards his office with his cousin. Before closing the door, Risma took the opportunity to ask him a question."Would you like to have dinner with Mr. Evan? Dinner is ready.""Sure," Ethan replied, nodding. He and Evan had last eaten together with his father earlier that day. "Just set it up. Evan and I will head over soon. Also, call Amelia to join us for dinner."Risma immediately followed through with Ethan’s instructions. She hurried to the second fl
"I absolutely don’t agree with you moving Amelia to the apartment." After previously protesting because she overheard a conversation between her husband and his new wife, Flora continued her rant once they were in the bedroom. She was firmly against Ethan putting Amelia in an apartment, separated from her. Flora gave many reasons for her objection. One of them was that she would feel lonely if Amelia left the house where she and Ethan currently lived. "Besides, there’s no rule that says the first and second wives can’t live in the same house. So why are you trying to separate us? Are you purposely trying to create a barrier between me and Amelia?" Ethan shook his head. Why was Flora overthinking this? His intentions were good. He didn’t want jealousy or discomfort between his two wives if they lived under the same roof. Right now, Flora might not feel anything, but it was entirely possible that problems or awkwardness could arise in the future. Ethan wanted to prevent that,
As Flora had mentioned last night, the next morning, after Ethan left for work, she immediately approached Amelia, who was enjoying her breakfast. Full of enthusiasm, the sharp-eyed woman wasted no time taking a seat right next to her friend, eager to share the plan to move Amelia to Ethan's apartment, which was not too far from their main house. "Amelia, I have some important information for you," Flora said excitedly. "What information?" Amelia asked. She had just finished her breakfast and was now focused on what Flora had to say. "I know Ethan already told you last night about his plan to give you your own apartment to live in. At first, I didn’t agree because I felt bad letting you live alone, and honestly, I’d feel lonely without you here," Flora admitted. "If you want me to stay here, Flora, I’ll stay," Amelia offered, feeling guilty as she noticed the pleading look on her friend's face. "No, Amelia," Flora quickly objected. "Ethan and I had a long discussion about it
Ethan had just left the pediatric clinic after finishing his patient rounds. After confirming all his tasks were complete, he headed back to his office. Upon reaching the third floor of the hospital and stepping out of the elevator, Ethan accidentally spotted Amelia. Earlier, his wife had informed him that she would stop by so they could head to the apartment together, as per Flora's instructions. One thing caught Ethan’s attention—Amelia was deeply engaged in a serious conversation with a colleague. For some reason, seeing how familiar and at ease Amelia seemed with Alvin made Ethan feel uneasy. Without paying attention to their discussion, Ethan immediately called out to her, interrupting. "Amelia." Hearing her name, Amelia instinctively turned around. When she saw her husband walking toward her, she smiled and responded warmly. "Yes? Are you done with your work?" Ethan nodded, positioning himself directly in front of his wife. His gaze was intense, locking solely onto A
"You two finally made it here."As soon as they stepped into Ethan’s apartment, Flora greeted her husband and Amelia with a bright smile, welcoming them inside. She then invited them to tour the tidy, move-in-ready space."Have you been here long?" Ethan asked. When he saw Flora, he took a moment to hug her briefly and kiss her forehead tenderly, a scene that Amelia couldn’t help but notice."Not long," Flora replied. "I’ve been here since around 10 to tidy up. And now, the apartment is all ready for Amelia to move in."Ethan nodded and then turned to Amelia, suggesting they talk. "From now on, you can stay here, Amelia. I hope you feel comfortable. If you need anything, don’t hesitate to contact either Flora or me.""Thank you so much for the apartment, Flora," Amelia responded."If you ever feel uncomfortable or uneasy, you need to let me know right away, Amelia," Flora urged."Don’t worry, I’m sure I’ll be fine here. Plus, Risma will be here with me," Amelia reassured her."Alrigh
**A Few Years Ago**Ethan had just parked the car in the campus basement parking lot. Before getting out, he double-checked the contents of his bag. He made sure the velvet box containing the diamond-studded ring he had prepared was still there. It was a very special item he had prepared for today to give to the woman he loved so much."Amelia, you have to accept my love and my proposal," Ethan mumbled, smiling to himself. His mind wandered as he imagined how Amelia, the woman he had known and made his friend for the past year, would respond to his love.Ethan was certain that Amelia shared the same feelings for him. It was evident from their everyday interactions—they were always together, comfortable, and seemed to be a perfect match. Because of this, Ethan wanted to clarify their relationship and even planned to propose to Amelia. Moreover, both of their parents had agreed that their relationship should progress to a more serious level."Actually, this might be too soon. Consideri
Early in the morning, after showering, Amelia quickly got to work in the kitchen to prepare breakfast. This time, she deliberately chose to make fried rice with crispy shrimp to serve and enjoy with Ethan. At exactly seven o'clock, Ethan walked out of his room. Wearing his signature white doctor’s coat, he immediately pulled out a chair and sat down. He gave a faint smile as he received the plate that Amelia handed him. "You made fried rice?" "Yes, butter fried rice with crispy shrimp."Ethan let out a soft click of his tongue. After being apart for so many years, he had to admit that the woman he once loved hadn’t forgotten what he liked. “Flora, what’s going on? Why do you look so anxious?” Ethan asked when he saw his first wife, Flora, suddenly appear at Amelia’s apartment. At that moment, Ethan and Amelia were having breakfast while discussing the issues from the previous night. Just a few minutes later, the apartment door was knocked loudly. When the housekeeper opened the door, Flora walked in, heading straight for the dining room to join her husband, who looked extremely anxious and worried. “Amelia, I’m sorry to disturb you, but I’m in an emergency and I don’t know who else to turn to,” Flora explained.Seeing Flora’s panicked expression, Amelia became worried too. She stood up and walked over to her friend. “Calm down, Flora. Tell us slowly.”Flora nodded, taking deep breaths to calm herself. After a moment, she began to speak again.“I need Ethan for a moment. My mom had another heart attack and is in the Siloam hospital. Her condition worsened early this morning.”“Oh my God.” Both Ethan and Amelia were sh
Amelia looked visibly anxious as she stepped out of the car. She took large strides, eager to reach the room where her father was being treated. Behind her was Ethan, following wherever his wife went. Earlier, he had felt conflicted, torn between who to accompany that morning, but in the end, he chose Amelia. "Ethan, why are you so quiet? You're still there, right?" Flora's voice came through on the phone. Ethan was momentarily silent. It wasn’t without reason; he was simply unsure of who to prioritize. On one hand, he had already made a promise to Flora, but on the other, Amelia really needed his support. "Ethan?" Flora called again. "Flora... I'm sorry. I can’t take you to your mom’s house this morning." "Why not? Didn’t you promise me yesterday?" Disappointment laced Flora’s tone. "I’m really sorry. I need to take Amelia to the hospital. Her father suddenly lost consciousness and is being treated by doctors now." "Oh my God." Flora sounded shocked at the explanation
Amelia glanced at the clock on the wall, which showed it was already 10 PM. Pulling up her blanket, she intended to sleep. However, before she could drift off, Amelia heard her bedroom door open. She had a habit of never locking her door, considering there was no one else in the apartment except her and Risma. Turning over to check, Amelia was slightly startled. Her eyes fell on Ethan, who had entered the room and immediately started taking off the sweater he was wearing. This certainly surprised Amelia. Her husband hadn't given her any notice that he would be stopping by or staying at the apartment tonight, even though it was indeed his scheduled night to visit. "You're staying here tonight?" Amelia asked. She sat up, abandoning her previous intention to sleep. "Yeah," Ethan replied briefly. He then walked over to the wardrobe, grabbed some pajamas, and headed into the bathroom to change. When he was done, he came straight to the bed, climbed in, and lay down next to Amel
"So, since the new schedule has been evaluated, you just need to adjust accordingly. For the seminar with the medical faculty students the day after tomorrow, the speakers on the first day will be Alvin and Ethan.”Asher and his colleagues were currently in the hospital’s meeting room, discussing evaluations and finalizing the seminar schedule for the upcoming week. One by one, the doctors were assigned their respective tasks. Alvin, Ethan, Alissa, Tsania, Evan, and the others would take turns as speakers for the event.“This seminar is divided into two sessions each day, right?” Evan asked.“Yes, each session lasts three hours. There’s a 20-minute break before the second session,” Asher explained.Evan nodded, understanding the explanation. “My schedule is confirmed for the day after tomorrow with Tsania, right?” “Yes,” Asher replied. “Because an obstetrician is usually paired with a pediatrician. However, for your session, the duration is a bit longer.” “Why is that?” Evan ask
"We're here." After a 15-minute drive, Evan’s black Jeep Rubicon smoothly parked in the lot of Clara’s boutique. Before Amelia could step out, Evan’s eyes were drawn to the turquoise bag she had been carrying. "What’s that? It looks so cute," Evan asked, pointing to the thermal bag in her hand. "This?" Amelia held up the turquoise bag. "Yeah, I’ve been noticing it. What is it?" "It’s a thermal bag. It keeps lunch boxes warm," she explained. "Oh, a lunch bag?" Evan guessed, and Amelia nodded. "Yes, a lunch bag. I packed it for Ethan." Evan nodded in understanding but then sighed softly, as if something was bothering him. "It must be nice to have a wife who brings you lunch during work breaks. Meanwhile, me? Forget about packed lunches—I didn’t even have time for breakfast this morning." "You haven’t eaten?" Evan nodded, looking visibly drained like someone who hadn’t eaten all day. "Not at all. I was in a rush this morning to get to the hospital because of a C-s
For five days, Ethan had been staying at the main house with Flora. Technically, it violated their agreement, but Amelia didn’t dwell on it. She figured that since Flora’s parents were still unwell, her friend might need her husband around to assist her in case of any emergencies. After days of not communicating, Amelia decided to muster the courage to send her husband a message first thing in the morning. She just wanted to check on him and make sure he was okay. After all, it wasn’t a crime for a wife to ask about her husband’s well-being. **Amelia:** *Ethan, how are you? Are Flora's parents feeling better?* After typing out the message, Amelia read it over one more time. Confident in her wording, she hit send. While waiting for a reply, she decided to have her breakfast. Thankfully, just a few minutes later, her phone chimed with a notification. A message from Ethan made her face light up with joy. Eagerly, Amelia unlocked her phone to check. Sure enough, the response was
"Excuse me." "Hi. What a coincidence you’re here, I was just about to call you," said Asher when he saw Evan enter his office with Amelia. After making an offer, Evan really helped Amelia carry her things and accompanied her to Asher's office. "Why did you want to call me?" asked Evan as he placed one bottle of mineral water after another on the table in front of the guest sofa. "I wanted to invite you to eat. My wife brought a lot of food. I called Alvin earlier, but he couldn’t make it because he had a patient visit with Tsania." "Good thing…" Evan said. "It wasn’t a waste that I haven’t eaten since this morning. Now I get to eat for free here." "Well then, come join us," Clara invited. She immediately motioned for Evan to enjoy the food she had arranged on the table. The four of them seemed to be getting along, chatting as they ate. At least Evan’s presence lifted the mood, and Clara laughed several times at his funny stories. "I swear, this Dr. Evan has to meet Asher
