CHAPTER 46Placing his hand under her head, Christian pulled her to himself, taking her lips into his slowly. Already looking forward to sharing a kiss with him, Laura gave in fully. With her hand resting on his chest, she returned his kiss with equal fervor and soon they were both fighting for dominance with their tongues in each other's mouth. This left them exhausted when they finally pulled away. “Let's go in.” Laura offered, pushing her hair away from her face as Christian shook his head in the negative. Raising her brow at him, she asked, “Why is that? Is anything wrong?” “Not at all.” He replied, swirling his key in his hand. “I will be off now.” He said and with that, he got into his car and then drove off before he could stop him. Laura didn't let her gaze off the car until she couldn't see it anymore. With her fingers now combing through her hair, she turned around and then made her way into the house. Now in her room, she was sitting at the head of her bed with her leg
CHAPTER 47“It's just past midnight.” Christian muttered, rubbing the back of his neck. Pulling himself up, he rested his head against the wall with his eyes fixed on the ceiling. Even though he had just woken up from a dreamless sleep which had left him drained, he wanted to return but each time he closed his eyes, they would be wide open the next minute. Frustrated, he fixed his gaze on the clock only to start calculating the hours left before dawn. “12…1…2…3… ugh! More than four hours left until dawn. What am I going to do now? Going back to bed is impossible.” He groaned as he let out a low sigh of frustration. Swinging his feet off the bed, he made his way towards the bathroom and after washing his face, he returned to the window and then parted the curtains. Now leaning against the wall, he began to stare at the sleeping city. Minutes after minutes went by, still yet, he didn't have the urge to return to bed despite all his attempts to tire himself out. In contrast to the
CHAPTER 48She didn't know which was more embarrassing, eavesdropping or having Christian stare down at her where she laid so useless or the fact that he had a quite absurd look on his face. She looked up to him and could hear her heart ricocheting, she turned her gaze as he walked away. She could tell that he was annoyed and she would have to pacify him again. She walked in and caught him in a foul mood, for the first time since when she could remember he looked at her with disdain, as if the very idea of what she had done was starting to irritate him.Tonia's voice was calm when it came to him, she could… As usual it was easy to tell that she was sorry about what she had done, but he couldn't get it off his chest as it thuds heavily.“Why." He muttered. “You are acting differently, especially after the entire situation that had happened." She couldn't bring herself to say anything as she knew that she had wronged him.Regardless, Antonia presses on. “I am sorry, I was just curious.”
CHAPTER 49Staring at her reflection in the mirror, Laura stood right there in the middle of the room trying to get her most recent altercation with Rian out of her mind. She looked back to where he laid on the bed still asleep and wondered to herself if that was what he cared about after all— Sex!They had started the night most definitely arguing and then it had ended with her having to appease him with sex as well. She undid the simple braid Riley had helped her with the previous week and let the strands fall off to her back, her eyes seemed a deeper shade than it should have been as she drew in a deep breath. She brushed back the faint lines of tension showing on either side of her brows and she sighed deeply again. The truth was that she was tense, as a matter of fact her whole person was— She turned and looked back at him one more time. She thought it was best she had a shower to help her calm her nerves, as soon as she was in, she turned on the taps, stripped and stepped into
CHAPTER 50 “Alright, but can't you tell me why you want to see me so bad?,"Her voice is two tones higher than it should be, giving away her trepidation, she couldn't tell why but it's sounded so important from what he had said and she had to see her parents.Still she is not convinced, she had that feeling that all of this had to do with something as the call couldn't be coincidence.“I’m sorry. I should have been clearer,” he insists. “But trust me you'll hear more about it when you return.” When she turned to face Rian the look he had showed he wasn't that pleased. “Should I come with you?" he questioned. For what felt like a minute, she held his gaze. " I don't think that would be necessary.”“And the summit?" He asked. She groaned. It had slipped my mind, and only now did it occur to me that it would be coming up later that evening.“I will have to call Riley to represent me.I will not turn around my mind because of this.”Rian knew it was a lost cause trying to convince her,
CHAPTER 51He watched in silence as Antonia walked back out of the room, his mind whirring. He could feel his conscience being consumed till it died away in his chest into a state of nothingness. For what felt like a while it quieted in his chest for the first time since all the Madness and jealousy, one would have expected that he would sigh relieved at the bit of silence, but he didn't… and it made him uncomfortable. He was becoming too invested in trying to learn the truth about the entire situation, he wanted to know why Laura was tricking him with the boy's, at least that was the way he saw it.He wouldn't deny that he didn't feel attached to them but at the same time, the entire drama was starting to cost him his life, his wife —He looked again at the door as he could hear her sobbing. He frowned, a hand automatically coming up to rub his chest again as though to keep his heart in check before he does anything stupidly outrageous. He didn’t like that in a way his soul was getti
CHAPTER 52There must definitely be a reason for the call but the reason was at that moment he couldn't tell at least not till he would arrive.Driving out through the secluded road he tries all he could to put his sanity in check, right there in his mind were the most thriving things he could think about everything ending with the thought of Antonia, in a way he thought himself silly for his antics.A part of his mind told him it would have been better if he had just come off with the truth about how things were, still he wouldn't blame himself he thought he was doing what was right and this at the moment didn't seem to be.“I will soon be there!" He spoke a bit irritated this time to the caller who was apparently Laura. In a way he thought she was all out tormenting his soul at least that was what it looked like if she was to get a clearer perspective of It.It was the tenth time she had called since all of this, and already he was getting worried about the true reason for her call.
CHAPTER 53Trees rose above and all around him in the quiet, dark night and all that crept through mind was a haunted feeling that crept through it again and again. The moonlight was pouring in through the sky overhead as he took in the heavy scent of nature around him in a deep sigh. From the sweet scent of lavender reminding him of Antonia hair to the feeling he had all blended together in one space. He turned left, stopping at the glass window of his car and sighed.Five minutes later he was out, he straightened, reaching up, grabbing a handful of hair, andbringing it over his shoulders as he drove in that cold dark night. Thinking back he couldn't believe he had just agreed to whatever this was going to be, he was annoyed, yes he definitely was but he couldn't blame Laura either.By now he was certain Antonia was very worried, she had called in twice to check up on him and on both occasions he had told something important came up.Could she have a hint about what was happening
