Before I knew it, time passed quickly. It had been two months of our marriage and things were how they were on the first day. Nothing changed.

I was not dying to rush into things either so for the time being, I continued to work.

I came home early after work and when I was about to enter, I heard Saafia's sister speaking on the phone.

“Come on, Saafia. It’s been two months since your marriage and you are still where you started. Heck, you don’t even call him by his name.”

“I don’t want to. I will speak his name when I feel safe with him. I don’t. He scares me sometimes.”

Well, I won’t deny. I could sense her fright as well most of the time but decided to not react and listened further.

“Why don’t you end this?” Her sister offered, bringing a scowl on my face. Like I would let it end this easily.

“No. Why would I? I gave him a year and I will complete it. I don’t back away from my words.”

My rage faded instantly when I heard it. Finally one thing in common! We both are stubb

SAAFIA’S POV:-Jared was released, he must be there with his wife, having an affectionate time with her and me, where am I? Sitting alone on the bed, hugging my one knee and straightening the other.Staring into nothingness. I didn’t want to accept but Sarah was right. What was the point of a meaningless bond? These were not the thoughts I had for my marriage. What good being with that man will bring me? Was it worth it?“Hey. What are you thinking? Are you hungry?” He called, snapping his fingers to get my attention while not removing his eyes from his laptop. It was night, he was working. In the dark room, the light of the screen made his handsome features shine. Exhaling, my eyes shifted to him.“I am thinking that I have been married for two months now yet it feels like a stranger is here.” I told him in a low, sorrowful tone. “Sometimes a lifetime is not enough to know someone. These are only months. In fact, you can never know what another person thinks.” He continued, typing

“That is none of your damn concern.” My body froze when I sensed his presence behind me. A terrible shiver went down my spine when I sensed his wrath and the glare he sent in my direction.Gulping, I turned and saw him. In his white office shirt, his sleeves rolled roughly and two buttons opened with slightly scattered hairs, indicating he was already stressed. And I enhanced it.“Mr. C-Cannedy?” Calling worriedly, I got up quickly. My heart began to pound. As much of a possessive man he is, I knew he wouldn't take it lightly. Coming closer with an intimidating aura and dangerous eyes, he walked up to us. His hands in his pocket, emitting a dominance I had never seen before.“B-Boss, she called me. I swear, I-I didn’t do anything.” Jared stammered, rising from his seat, losing his breaths in horror. His fatal eyes traveled to me. My mind stopped functioning, my heart pounded rapidly, brimming tears in my eyes as I moved back.“You are coming with me.” He growled in a low, deadly voi

I stood in the room, wondering whether I should go and greet his sister or not. But then again, I had no grudge against her. I was not like him to take someone’s rage on someone else. Why should I hurt her for her brother’s actions? Taking a deep breath, I washed my face. My hands were still shaking from the confrontation. He had terrified me today.“Calm down, Saafia.” Instructing myself, I took a deep breath, regaining my posture, applied a little makeup and walked out. I didn’t want to ruin my first meeting with her. As I walked out, I heard her chirpy tone echoing in the hall.“Why didn’t you wait for me? Why were you in such a hurry to marry?!” He was dying to take revenge.A smile came to my lips. I had talked to Jacey on call and she sounded sweet. I hope she’d be like that in reality too.“Ah, but it was so beautiful. Where is she? I want to see her.” She beamed. I almost chuckled to watch the woman of my age, almost jumping in enthusiasm. She looked like her mother. A grac

I was in the hall, my one leg resting over the other, opening another button of my shirt.I was already stressed because of work and my image I ruined by sending my employee Jared to jail and coming here, I ended up frightening her as well.“Uh… Sir?” Sam called, noticing the stern expression on my face.“Hmm?” I hummed, leaning my head back, rubbing my temples.“Are you alright?” He asked, arching an eyebrow as I only hummed in return.“You better keep Jacey happy at all costs.” I warned him, shifting my gaze to him.“Yes, Sir.” He nodded quickly, sitting farther away from me. He was obviously intimidated by my very presence. But, at the moment my only concern was Saafia. The sound of her sobs was echoing in my mind. I frightened her in the lift as well. “I.. will go and see Jacey.” I couldn’t help it, I had mad

Unwillingly, I got ready on Saturday, wearing my black shirt and black waistcoat, rolling my sleeves to the elbow, watching my wife getting ready. She wore the matching dress, doing her hair as I stared at her, not removing my eyes from her. She was smiling, applying her makeup, looking angelic.‘How could I tell her she looks beautiful? In fact, when did she become this pretty?’ I thought.Watching her intensely, covering my mouth as I opened the first two buttons of my shirt temptingly when she applied her lipstick, not noticing or she probably noticed. Who knows?“Argh. I can’t put this on. Can you help me?” She called after failing to secure her necklace. Her hands were shaking slightly. Not daring to look into my eyes with a blush. She noticed. She definitely did. In these two months, I had known whenever I stared at her, she got flushed. It was my affect on her.“Sure.” Clearing my throat, I rose from my seat and stood behind her. She was so small compared to me.Securing the

SAAFIA’S POV:- I was so done with him. I won’t forgive him this easily, he couldn’t take me for granted. He couldn’t accuse me, hurt me whenever he wanted. I won’t let it slide. I decided to act normally with everyone except him. Ignoring him, being harsh with him but being a stone. He was incapable of understanding. I was in the hall alone because Jacey left for dinner with Sam and I had no intention of going to the room for now. “Hey.” He called coming down with a frown lingering on his stoic features. “What?” “Did your desire to paint end in one work? I found another teacher only to know you are no longer interested. Do you want to do anything else?” He questioned, standing before me. I couldn’t get him. One moment all nonchalant and chill and in the other, rude, horrible and arrogant. I couldn’t tell when he was sincere, when he meant his words. “I don’t want to do anything.” I replied coldly, taking a seat, not bothering to look at him, deepening his frown. “What happ

Later, only a week was left for Jacey’s engagement, everyone was madly working, decorating the mansion as it was going to happen here. It was Sunday and I had so much fun with Jacey. I had a lovely and delightful time. I was excited to wear that pink dress Jacey gave me. “Saafia! Do you have a list of things for decoration?” Jacey called me from downstairs. Grinning, I happily ran down the stairs. He was standing in the landing area. Looking eye-catching as always in his black shirt. Three buttons opened, revealing his toned chest. Sleeves rolled perfectly to the elbow, always looking immaculate. He was on his phone with one hand in his pocket. “Yeah! I do. I have it- Ah!” I was so excited and twisted my ankle, slipping and falling in his chest. Stopping, he quickly grabbed my waist to refrain me from falling but I hurt my ankle badly. “Can’t you watch where you are going, woman? Are you hurt?” He whispered worriedly, cutting the call and putting the phone back to help me

DARIEL’S POV:-I was getting ready for work in the morning. Holding my hand out of Saafia who moved behind and helped me wear my waistcoat. I couldn’t help but to scrutinize her form, small compared to mine.Popping to the front, she was closing the buttons as I was staring at her as usual, wanting to rake my fingers in her hair. How would it feel? “Mister Cannedy.” She called after buttoning my waistcoat.“Yes, Missus Cannedy?”Smirking, I slid my finger under her chin and lifted it so she could see the way I was looking directly into her soul. She tilted her head in confusion to which I shrugged my shoulders monotonously.“When you are not calling my name then why would I?”She smiled faintly, shaking her head and went to take my coat, helping me wearing it and not understanding what was happening to me, I was forced to link my gaze with her innocent ones. Why do my gazes always stop at you?“Anyways, listen,” She called, leaving me and leaning against the wall while watching me

3.5 Years Later. SAAFIA’S POV:-Today was Jacey’s engagement with Jared. Both of them got an instant connection already but they were so scared of commitments that it took them three years to decide to be together. And on that day, I was running after my three-year-old daughter who was running and I was worried if she wouldn't fall.“Lillia, come here, stop running!”Not caring, she ran and jumped into her father’s arms, “Papa!”“Be careful, princess, you will fall,” Dariel laughed a little, picking Lillia who was hugging him with a wide grin.An important work came so he had to leave for a few hours but in that time we all fell asleep.Because my sweet Lillia’s six months old younger brother had sworn to not let his mother rest.“Welcome home,” I sighed, shaking my head as I gave Dariel a side hug.“Thank you,” He smiled, kissing the top of my head while putting down Lillia, giving her his office bag so she could take it to our room.“Oh thank God, you are here, Dariel,” I sighed wh

DARIEL’S POV:-Helder surrendered himself without resisting… It was expected, he was at a losing point of his life, he was utterly defeated and lost and gave up without trying. He knew he did wrong by flowing in the emotions.“You are under arrest for kidnapping Jacey Cannedy and Jared Raz in the middle of the day,” His head was hanging low, emitting deep dejection that made us all silent. We stood together while he was all alone.“I know…” Tears glistened in the corner of his eyes, curling his hand in a fist due to powerlessness. He lost all his purpose in a moment, one letter all it took to shatter him. They were about to take him away but he stopped before me. I felt an unknown sting in my chest, narrowing my eyes as he held a woeful expression.“Dariel, I wanted to confess something,”“What?”He looked down in shame, “The child that Veronica aborted… it was mine. I didn’t tell her to do that but she did it nonetheless… It was me too who made her marry Jared.” He whispered whic

SAAFIA’S POV:-My heartbeats were dropping by each passing second to think what Helder would do to Jacey. Harry had etched too much hatred in his heart.I was afraid he might not end up creating an irredeemable mistake. He was made this way, he had a path to return, to find acceptance. He would definitely regret losing that.“Fuck! I can’t believe he is taking out my wrath on Jacey!” Dariel growled as technically it was his fault.“Why didn’t you tell me you battered him in your new construction site!?” I hissed at him, not believing that he increased his fury by keeping him chained. “I was furious. He ruined your innocence, that Sam hurt my sister. For a second, I saw my life falling apart and I took that wrath on him,” He sighed in distress, driving hastily to go where Helder called us.He wanted us to meet where he got hit, at the same construction site as I was glaring at Dariel, now understand why he sent me away.He didn’t want me to witness how ruthless he could become.“Oh

JACEY’S POV:-Being with Jared was so tranquilizing, his words, his smile, everything about him was warming my heart. My heartbreak began to disperse as I gradually began to search for new reasons to live thanks to him. “I am glad you are here then, I feel peaceful when I talk to you.” I whispered when we were having an ice-cream after work. He offered me a place near his office as we both shared a pleasant time.“Did Dariel ask you to keep an eye on me so I won’t do something to myself in regret and sadness?” I asked in a playful tone because I saw no reasons for him to be this kind to me.In fact, after Dariel, he was the second man to care this much for me. Sam never did this- Nevermind.“What? No. Though I feel the same and that is why I come to you.” He chuckled sweetly.“How unfortunate Sam would be for neglecting you. He had someone who could adore him the most yet he chose to give her pain,” He spoke, evoking strange feelings in my chest at his heartfelt comment.“I could sa

I couldn’t believe such reality was hidden from him.How heartbroken he must be after knowing his father was killed…“It’s alright, Dariel, give yourself some time.” I wanted to comfort him by all means though I knew it won’t be enough, nothing could eradicate the scar emerging on his chest.Pulling away a little, he clutched his chest to show his anguish as he told me about the regret he felt when he came to know.“All this time, Mama was in pain but there was nothing I could do for her… He was torturing her, he killed my father, she knew but kept quiet for Helder…” A stream of tears rolled down his cheek, clutchi

My chest clenched upon knowing everything. My body trembled as I stared at this unbelievable man.“How… Do you expect anyone… whose home you destroyed, whose spouse you killed… to.. I didn’t want to but why did she return in the first place?!” He yelled.Slamming his hand down furiously but I forgot all my boundaries and limits and punched him in the jaw.“How could you say this, asshole!?” I yelled, losing my breath when after ravaging my family he was blaming us. “You killed my father, you destroyed my family, stole our rights, put my mother into depression. Heck, even you made Helder like this and considered yourself innocent, dammit!?” My voice broke when I hit him again until Saafia held me from behind to not cro

Though Harry was the one who started telling, Jacey who also came to know everything too, shared it with Jared who was baffled.Blinking, he asked nervously, “Why are you telling me all this?”“I… found a hidden dairy in Mama’s room. We never touched her private things, she wrote everything there for us and a message for Helder,” She shared as they were in a park, on a bench. She was looking down, wanting to share the weight on her chest with someone. “What message?” “I think I should tell that to him,”“So you are saying that your Uncle was behind your Father’s murder and your mother knew but kept it inside? For Helder?” He trailed off, narrowing his eyes to perceive if Helder knew about it or not.“Yes… She was carrying so much weight that it eventually killed her.” Jacey’s voice broke, hating how young she was that she couldn’t do anything for her consolation. She was heartbroken that their mother was in too much anguish that the remorse of her sins caused her to end her life.“
