(Author's Note: hey. Sorry for the delay. I had to go back to school and my school's like a boarding school, you know? Some students in my school caught covid and it had to be shut down. But the main thing is that I'm back, yay!)
*
My facial muscles had already started to cramp from smiling too hard at well-wishers and my eardrums were wearied of hearing the same words over and over again:
'I wish you both a happy married life with a lot of children.'
'You should be the couple of the year!'
The last one had me choking on air. If only cute could mean me wanting to strangle him.
Crystal had become a lot more suspicious after witnessing the whole scene Mr. Asshole and I pulled off
(A/N: I owe you guys this <3)*I made a stupid mistake of trying to look up while trying to get out of the limo. I tripped air and my own wedding dress, stumbled, and plunged straight to the ground. I braced myself for the impact but something incredible happened. It never came.It took a few moments for it to dawn on me that two bony arms had wrapped around me to avoid me from kissing the ground. I fluttered my eyelids closed and forced out a breath."I'm sorry, ma'am," Jonas' voice resounded in my ears as the two skinny arms pulled me up to standing position. His ears were tinged with a little hint of pink and he avoided my eyes.I stared at him weirdly, wondering how those skinny arms could pull me up so easily. I pulled my undone hair away from my eyes with another breath escaping my mouth. "Thank you," I told him sincerely with a smile. He smiled back and stooped low to pick
(a/n: the last chapter was a bit too long so I divided it into two)*"What?" I repeatedHe had turned fully to me at this point and his head was slightly tilted to the right. "I believe I said that quite audibly enough for the human ear."I blinked once, then twice, and again till I lost count. My mouth opened as if it had a mind of its own, not before my brain picked up and commanded it to slam shut again. "I- I don't know what to say.""Great," he said. "Then, don't say anything at all. Are you done now?" He eyed my dumbfounded expression for a while before adding, "The plan was to have a quiet ceremony, but since you decided to experiment and called in the media, I decided that you'll bear any additional impromptu cost by having your
I couldn't sleep.I didn't know whether it was because that I was mildly insomniac, or that my room was freezing cold, or maybe because my bed was harder, way harder than the normal, average bed needed for normal people to sleep in.I had a feeling it was because of all three.Groaning a little louder than needed and successfully managing to sound like a female gorilla during labor, I rolled over to the extreme edge of the bed only to roll back to my previous position. I wiggled my hips deep into the bed trying to find a way to make my stone-hard bed somewhat comfortable to my behind.Goosebumps trailed over my arms as I sat up straight and rested my back on the rock-hard headboard of my rock-hard bed. And somehow, it felt like the headboard was less hard than the bed itself. I wrapped the night robe of my silk nightdress tighter around me and shoved my legs deeper into my thick, soft comforter. The pad
(a/n: I'm late on this one, I know, I know. Had a killer writer's block but here's the chapter you've all been waiting for. Woulda updated last week but I'm a chief procrastinator lol. Next chapter should come up before the end of next week. Not making any promises tho)*His hand that held my wrists above my head tightened like the jaws of a starved dog would if a bone in its mouth was to be yanked on. Beneath the hand clamping my mouth, I let out a muffled whimper. My sudden interest in his left ear dwindled and my eyes forced themselves back to his gleaming grey orbs. His head was tilted to the side and I could make out, from my point of view, that his eyebrow was arched upward. He had this strange, contorted facial expression that I had never seen on his face. It was like he thought I was some kind of psychopathic burglar or Russian spy sent to butcher him and knot his intestines into Christmas ribbons or something. However, the way his head
The next morning, I had a vague memory of what had transpired the previous night. And– I ended up sleeping in living room.Light. Bright... Warm... Piercing... Light. It was everywhere. Invading my deep, dreamless sleep like a starving mosquito. I tried to hide and curl into a ball but the glare was too strong."Please," I grunted, sounding something like a cross between a choking cavewoman from the ancient world and a bleeding pig. "Switch off the goddamn light." My hands went high in front of my face to try to shield my eyes from the torture. There. It was better that way. But of course, I wasn't a robot so I couldn't remain in that position for long. My hands began to droop low and the light was back on my face again out for blood.
"Honey, I'm home!" I found Kate sitting upside down the armchair, her long legs were dangling off the top of the chair, and her brown hair was drooping, touching the floor carpet. She was watching NCIS: Los Angeles on the TV and munching on her favorite Tortilla chips and eating-I scrunched my nose. "Ice cream."She glanced up and grinned, thrusting food into her mouth. "Oh, you're here. How'd you get in?"I plopped down on the floor. "Through the door.""Established," she replied before shoving the pack of Paqui chips in front of my face. "Want some?""Wow," I drawled, taking one chip from the pack. "Katherine Alyssa Marie Montgomery is offering me her food willingly. Ithink I just saw three pigs fly." She rolled her eyes in response, before shoveling a chip into her tub of Neapolitan ice cream. I stared as she shoved the ice c
"Thank you," I muttered to the middle-aged man behind the steering wheel of a yellow cab as I handed him a crumpled twenty-dollar bill. "Yeah sure," he grunted, driving off and leaving me alone in front of a tall building. The building was no more than a little skyscraper. The size was pretty normal for an average skyscraper building despite the fact that TE was a lot bigger and embellished than it. I tried to ignore that. Harsh sunlight reflected off the glass frame of the structure, making it look bigger and more intimidating. I noticed Topperstone Inc. written in bold and steel over the opaque glass front doors.Dragging in lungfuls of air, I checked my wristwatch. Two forty-three. Great, I'm not too late or too early. I adjusted the strap of my shoulder-bag and my one and only pencil skirt as I approached the doors. The lobby looked large–possibly la
The human brain is amazing. It's funny how it works all day every day for twenty-four hours but stops only when we're taking a test, speaking to someone attractive, or receiving bad news. I swear my brain stopped processing thoughts for the next few minutes after the interview guy dropped the bombshell. Time whizzed past my head as the other lady, Megan, ushered me out of the conference room with a sour look on her face. I couldn't blame her, honestly. That was the effect Mr. Trevelyan had on people. The poor woman hadn't even met him yet and he was already ruining her mood. Mr. Trevelyan was not at the lobby of Topperstone Inc., like I had thought. He was lucky because, in that state of mind, I don't know what I would have done if I saw him.
