CHAPTER FOUR
Betrayal
I sat on the couch with Chelsea I managed to calm down after some time, I told her about the situation and thanked her for saving me, I don't know what I would have done without her help, she just smiled and nodded
" I'll help you pay the debts" she suddenly said
" What!!" I exclaimed
" Yeah I will, it's not a big deal, but I want to ask for a favor from you" she said , I nodded immediately
" Whatever it is, I'll help as long as it's what I can do "
" I want to invite you to a party, it's my a vip party but I need to go with a friend, I just want you to show up and stay with me through out the night"
" Ooh.. it's not a problem... But I don't think you should clear my debts, if you can lend me the money I promise I'll pay back". I said looking at her
" Don't worry about it, just wear this dress and come to this venue by 7:00, " she said and gave me a box she came with and then handed me a card
" That's your VIP pass to the party" I looked at the golden card and I was speechless, she's really inviting me to an exclusive elite party and even promising to pay my debts what did ever do to deserve this girl, when I couldn't take it anymore, I hugged her and start crying again...
" I don't know how to thank you for all you have been doing for me, I... I'll definitely repay you somehow"
" Don't worry about it... Just make sure you show up okay " I nodded to chocked up with tears to say anything, she smiled and left the house.

I looked at myself in the mirror and I couldn't help but feel uncomfortable... This dress was extremely short... I'm not used to wearing revealing clothes, it was a black short gown with floral patterns on it, it looks deathly expensive, the box even came with heels, I'm not used to wearing any of these, this clothes showed all my curves that is always hidden inside baggy clothes, I'm really uncomfortable but I have to do this, this is the first favor she's asking me so I'll do it, no matter how self conscious I feel letting down my hair in years, I'll do it , it's the least I can do to thank her.
The cab I entered dropped me off in front of the venue, I came out , I breathed in and went inside the building, I passed after showing my VIP pass, I wonder what kind of party this is... The dress I was wearing had a tag that was written CLOWN on it, I had a bad feeling about it but decided to ignore the feeling, it's probably me being paranoid again...
So I shook off the feeling and went inside the place
Wow... This please looks and smells rich everything here is the definition of luxury In excess, people were in groups talking and laughing lowly to themselves, I stepped inside the hall like room my eyes searching for Chelsea should I ask someone... Everybody seems to be busy
" Listen everyone the part is about to begin" someone made an announcement and I turned to look upstairs ... Is that Judith, she smiled at me before yelling
" Guyssss.... The clown is here" what on earth does she mean by that, everyone began to cheer that is when I realized everyone has move back and I was at the center.
I was suddenly feeling self conscious as everyone was now looking at me... Wait I'm I the clown???
I watched Judith come down the stairs now walking towards me sarcastic smile
"Yes baby... It's what you are thinking you are the clown tonight"
"W..what the hell do you mean by that, I was invited by Chelsea " I said now looking around for her
" Ooh you are still in Dreamland aren't you... I think you are too comfortable, that is why you still think you have a place here" she said now very close to me before ripping off the fur jacket I was wearing and throwing it away, leaving with just the sleeveless short gown, I was so confused that I started shouting
" No..no stop I want to see Chelsea she Invited me, I'm not a clown"
" Ooh dear... don't worry she is right here, no need to yell" Judith said and looked up making me look up to see Chelsea standing at the top of the stairs looking down at me like I was filth beneath her feet, I think the way she was looking down at me watching everything unfold is already enough evidence that she is aware of everything but I don't want to believe my mind I wanted to hear it myself so I walked closer to her going to climb the stairs but Judith held my hair keeping me in place not to move before whispering to my ear
" You don't move until you are told to bitch...learn your place"
I watched Chelsea walk down the stairs taking her time she came closer to me now staring into my eyes before taking the mic and announcing
" Does anyone have an unfinished drink... I think there's a trash can here"
I heard a lot of people sigh, now coming close to me... Some of them whispering" finally, the party was getting boring "
I was jolted awake when someone poured their wine on my dress, I couldn't even talk before more people came to empty their wine on my body and leaving, I was soaking wet I was petrified as I was looking at Chelsea who was staring at me with a smile, when everyone was done she said
" It looks like I also have an unfinished drink also..." She looked at the glass in her hands before she emptied it on my hair, letting it cascade over my face
" Wow look at that!!! What an artwork, what do you say Chels should I start my own artwork" Judith yelled behind me clearly excited
"No not yet, I need her to entertain Adrain first, I did promise him an apology for last night" I heard Chelsea say before I was dragged by Judith and dumped in front of a room before saying
"If I were you I would be a good bitch go inside there and do whatever he ask me to do, that is if you don't want those loan sharks to come for your head tomorrow "
I looked at my hands that was shaking and clenched it... Fine if I have to live then I'll do this, after all what is there to lose anyway.
I walked into the dark room that was lit by a blue light, to find one elderly and a young man who is looking really angry, he immediately shattered a glass in on the floor, yeah.... definitely angry
" How many times do I tell you that I'm going to get married eventually "
The man now angry stood up, why don't you show me Adrain, I don't find you with any lady do I "
Okay what did I walk into, I was about to leave when I felt a hand circle around my waist drawing me close till I fell to his chest
" She's the one I'm marrying, I just haven't told you yet"
Wait .. what... The man was looking at the guy that was holding me close to his chest with expression that says I don't believe anything you say
" Fine , make sure you marry her within a week or else forget about the company"
Okay this is getting out of hand,." Listen..."
I haven't even gotten the word out of my mouth and he tightened his hands on my waist, I wanted to struggle but he immediately slipped his hands inside the slit in my dress at the middle of my stomach, I don't know how he did it but he suddenly had his whohand sprawled at the expanse of my flat tummy making me shiver both from the cold and the horror of what is happening.
Chapter 5Chapter Title The Fantasy of authority If I had known that Chelsea was up to something, I sure wouldn't have honoured such invitation to get humiliated..I stood at the corner of the door feeling completely lost, with the shameful dress I wore to this club.."I wish I can just run away from here". I muttered to myself in shiver of shame and discomfort. As I looked, the people present in the party all stood laughing and chatting so loudly, I couldn’t help but feel the uncomfortable knot of tense in my stomach. "I don't belong here. I'm not like this people—i need to leave here before I get drifted apart by shame and disgrace". I thought to myself loudly.“Vianne, darling!” Chelsea’s voice slid through the noise, sharp and sugary like sweet honey. I turned, forcing a smile as Chelsea drew closer, her every step a statement of authority.Chelsea was captivating, as always. Her dress, a sparkling gold that sticked to her every curve, made her look like an idol that came down fr

Chapter 8: A Dance with Destiny"Don't you think this is fate?" We keep bumping into each other," Adrian said, his grin bright and fascinating.I scoffed, my thoughts racing. Fate? What a joke. This guy was the last person I wanted to see right now."What are you doing here?" I demanded while walking down from the podium. My pulse raced, fueled by wrath and something else I couldn't quite put my finger on.Adrian's eyes never left my as he approached. "I came to hear an angel sing," he said quietly, his voice low and sweet. "I just didn't expect the angel to be you."I felt my cheeks heat up, but I refused to be swayed by his appeal. "Cut the act, Adrian. "What do you really want?"He grinned and ran his fingers over his carefully groomed hair. "You're always so honest, Vianne. "It's refreshing." His expression became harsh. "We need to talk. Privately."I gazed around the café, very aware of the curious stares of other patrons. Wiz caught my eye and nodded, indicating that it was acc
Chapter 9: The Devil's BargainI woke up with a start, my heart pounding. The ring box on my bedside seemed to tease me, a sparkling reminder of the choice I faced. Adrian's proposal resonated in my head, intriguing and horrifying in equal measure. One year of my life for financial freedom. It seemed easy, but nothing involving Adrian could ever be simple.I pulled myself out of bed, my body hurting after a sleepless night. As I made coffee, my phone rang with a text from the hospital. Dad's health has worsened overnight. They needed to work soon, but without cash, they couldn't continue. My hands shook as I read the message. The walls of my little apartment appeared to close in, crushing me with the weight of my worries.I needed air.Grabbing my jacket, I stepped out, meandering mindlessly around the busy downtown streets. People raced by, wrapped up in their own lives, ignorant to the rage blazing within me.My feet brought me to the park where Mom used to take me as a kid. I fell
Chapter 10: Chains of GoldUnder the cover of darkness, Adrian's car raced past the hazy glow of the city lights. The adrenaline rush from our tight escape was still running, and my pulse was racing. I quietly glanced across at Adrian, who was dead focussed on the road with his mouth rigidly set."Where are we going?" To break the awkward pause, I asked."Somewhere secure," he said, his voice strained. "We need to talk."The vehicle climbed slowly into the hills until it came to a halt in front of a contemporary home that offered a stunning panorama of the city below. As Adrian led me inside, a shiver ran up my spine as his palm brushed against the small of my back. The inside was all slick lines and simple décor, but I barely noticed. The events of the previous night were still crashing into my head.Adrian led me to a luxurious couch, then poured two glasses of amber liquor from a crystal decanter. He gave one to me before taking a seat across from me."Drink," he urged softly. "It'
Chapter 11: Sharks in the WaterThe stress in the room was thick enough to cut with a knife. Adrian's mother, a statuesque lady with neatly coiffed silver hair, stared at me like I was something she'd scraped off her Gucci shoe."Adrian, darling," she began, her voice dripping with scorn, "surely you can't be serious about this... arrangement."I held the blankets closer, feeling uncovered and vulnerable. Adrian's jaw tensed, a muscle moving in his cheek."Mother, Father," he continued, his voice calm but with an edge of steel, "I'd appreciate it if you'd give Vianne and me a minute to get dressed. We can address this civilly over breakfast."His father, a distinguished-looking guy with hard eyes, mocked. "Civilly? There's nothing polite about this situation, son. You've made a joke of our family name!"Adrian's eyes flared dangerously. "I replied, we'll handle this over breakfast. Now, if you'll pardon us."He nearly rushed his parents out of the room, locking the door firmly behind
