Chapter Six

Alex dragged Lucy all the way down to the basement and threw her onto the floor roughly. He held onto his waist anxiously and stared at her like his last meal.

The kind of anger radiating from his breaths alone made Lucy shaudder with fear. She wantwed to say something, or to at least apologise for what she did, but she didn't know how to start

She just helped herself off the ground and looked up at A lex with apologetic eyes "I'm very sorry... I.."

"Who the hell do you think you are? And... how did you even get here?" Alex grabbed Lucy's chin fiercely and asked. He looked like he was about swallowing her in the next second if something doesnt happen

Tears rolled up in Lucy's eyes, and it didnt take up to the next second before it started pouring down her cheeks uncontrollably. Alex's voice sounded very cold and domineering. And she feared to make him more upset if she mistakinly says something terrible

She wanted to tell him she came with Aaron, but she was afraid of the outcome. She didnt want to put Aaron into any problem because of her own silliness. So she kept mute and endured the pain tearfully

Alex stared into Lucy's teary eyes for a while and let go of her chin. After that he frowned slightly and left without another word

He felt angry and curious at the same time. Because for the first time in his life after twenty five good years, he had gotten a new kind of feeling. Something he has never felt or even thought of once at any point of his life

He always does as he want, and to his satisfaction aswell. But today something different happened. Lucy's tears seemed to have touched a part of his heart, which made him feel a little pity for her

Since the time his parents got murdered in that serious robbery, Alex promised himself never to have pity for any soul that will cross his path even by mistake. His parents were taken away from him mercilessly when he was just seven years old, then why should he have mercy in his heart for anyone

Until he avenges the death of his parents, his heart will never open up for love, trust, mercy or even pitiness. But today it has changed

The kind of feelings he got when he saw the tears in Lucy's eyes made him think endlessly. He couldn't have gotten any pity for her right? There's no way thats possible

Lucy is the daughter of his enemy. Even if he's supposed to have pity for anyone it shouldn't be her. She's just in his life to make his revenge complete and nothing else

No matter what happens, he musn't get any feelings for that girl

"Alex.... where's your mind lost?" Vanessa snapped her finger at Alex zooming him out of his thoughts. This is a very rare side of him. Because Alex is always focussed and never gets lost in thoughts

"That stupid girl is here. She walked into the conference room in the mddle of my meeting to ruin it. Who the hell does she think she is?" Alex explained to Vanessa anxiously

"Lucy is here? Where is she?"

"I've left her at the basement" Alex replied and walked away with so much fury

"But she...." Vanessa coiled her palm into a fist and frowned deeply. She hates Lucy so much already, and now she has ruin her brother's meeting? There's no way she's going to spare her

Vanessa headed to the basement to teach Lucy a good lesson. Upon arrival, she saw Lucy walking towards the way out and quickly roared "hey!.. where do you think you're going after ruining my brother's meeting huh!?"

Lucy stopped walking upon hearing Vanessa's voice and slowly turned to face her. She blew out a loud sigh and stood in her place quitely as Vanessa walked closer.

The look on her face told Lucy everything. She knows very well her sister in law doesn't like her, and she made herself ready to face her

"You're as stupid as my brother described you earlier. Such a middle class girl, who has no idea about what goes on in companies as big as our company. I can't blame you so much anyway, because it's not your fault to be born a middle class girl" Vanessa walked around Lucy in circles and said in a tone full of disgust

Lucy smiled slyly at Vanessa's words and shook her head slightly. She didn't want to enetertain or get into any fight with her, so she turned round and headed towards the entrance without saying anything

But just as she took a step ahead, her wrist was grabbed fiercely by Vannesa and she was pulled back to stand in her place in a flash

Lucy freed her wrist from Vanessa's grip and glared at her fircely as she also glared back at her

"Getting upset already?" Vannesa laughed scornfully and asked in a soft tone this time

"Why would I get upset? Just like you said, it's not my fault that I was born into a middle class family. And it's not your fault that you're mannerless either. Just because you are born into a high class family doen't mean you're any better than me. I think it'll be better if we don't cross each other's path" Lucy spoke in a more serious tone

"What? So now you have the mouth to talk back at me right?" Vanessa crossed her arms over her chest and asked mockingly. Lucy looked very funny to her, because she holds no place in Alex's life. And she's going to be divorced after six months and left on the streets to stuggle

"Vannesa, we're both of the same age if my guess is right. You're just twenty five and so am I. So I don't see anything wrong in talking back at you. Moreover, we're both of the same class now. Just a reminder if you've forgotten who I am in this family" Lucy spoke calmly

"Haha...." Vannesa laughed very hard. She covered her mouth with her palm and looked at Lucy with teasing eyes

"Don't be so happy yet sister in law, or else I'm afraid it might turn into tears someday" Lucy smiled broadly and walked away after tapping Vannesa's shoulder slightly

Vannesa stared at the back of Lucy keenly until she vanished out of sight and frowned deeply. Her words got her thinking, and she wondered what they meant

She thought Lucy was just some timid middle glass girl, but seems she had underestimated her. Her words doesnt sound like she's naive and innocent at all. And it looks like she knows something they have no idea of

Her words sounded so promising. Does that mean she knows everything they've planned or something?

Vannesa left the basement still trembling at Lucy's words. She headed straight to Alex's office to inform him about everything without wasting another second. Who knows? Possibly Lucy is very much aware of something they are not

Lucy went back to the cafeteria to wait for Aaron impatiently. She didn’t want to spend another minute there because of Alex

Her silliness almost caused her life today. Alex's anger didnt look friendly at all. And she didn't want to do anything stupid to upset him again

Aaron showed up finally after some few minutes of waiting. Before he could utter any word, Lucy had already headed outside

Aaron quickly followed her to inquire about what had happened but Lucy just asked him to send her back home. She didnt want to talk about whatever happened between her and Alex earlier at the basement

She had her face buried on the window and stared outside

Aaron glanced over at her worriedly and asked "is everything okay with you?"

"I'm fine. I just miss my friend" Lucy lied

"Where's she?" Aaron asked sofly

"France. She went there to continue her studies after we completed college" Lucy explained with her face still fixed on the window

"Oh... I see. Would you like to go somewhere else with me?" Aaron slowly grabbed Lucy's hand and massaged the back of her plam gently

Lucy's mind instantly became blank. She slowly turned to face Aaron and swayed her eyes down to look at what he was dong with her hand uneasily. Something didn’t feel right about this to her, so she quickly pulled her hand away and smiled faintly "maybe another time"

"Right..." Aaron smiled back and replied. He knew Lucy didn’t like what he did just now, so he remained silent through the remaining miles and drove her home safely

Night showed up within the blink of an eye

Lucy stayed in her room all day. Trying to make up something to calm Alex down when he returns from work. She has promised herself to gain his love and trust, so she can't just sit idle without doing anything after making him upset

It was already twenty minutes past ten. And yet, nothing had still come in mind

Looking at what the time was, Lucy knew Alex would be back any time soon. And she had to come up with something at any cost

While at that same time, Alex was back already. He sat in his study room with his uncle and Aaron to discuss something important

The room was filled with strong aura. Each and everyone of them having the most dangerous looks ever on their faces

Mr. Stanley handed over a piece of paper to Alex and said "this is what my private investigators found recently. Mr. Jason is our biggest threat as at now. You have to do something as soon possible before things get out of hands"

Alex nodded his head silently as he read through the information provided on the paper. He chuckled slightly after reading everything and asked calmly "what about the sailors? Do you have any information about them yet?"

"Not much. But I promise to get it done as soon as possible" Aaron replied earnestly and glanced over at his father

"Good. Inform me about the state of Mr. Jason tomorrow morning. We're getting everything done tonight" Alex ordered Aaron and left

Mr. Stanley glared fiercely at Aaron, but left without saying anything to him. He looked a bit disappointed, and nobody knew why

Alex walked upstairs to his room straightaway and pushed the door open. But upon stepping inside, he found the lights turned off rendering the room completely dark

He thought possibly Lucy wasn't around. So he pressed on the button and switched the lights back on only to find something he had never expected to see
