Chapter 6

"These mountains are mostly found in Albania” he said with enthusiasm,” you can see such a view from here because we are close to them”.

Celine looked towards the mountains which were covered with vegetation characterized by rocky terrain and deep gorges. She felt it provided an adventurous environment for exploration.

She took a deep breath from the cool breeze and sighed with excitement seeing that David was excited too.

It's good you like it, he said dismissively with a frown.

“What had she done again?” she wondered,

“Does he always change from one mood to the other?”

After riding for a while, she stole a glance at him, noticing that he was quiet and distant.

She pushed her horse closer and decided to tell him about her ex-husband Ray, to clear the air on that, she thought.

“Ray, that was the name of my ex-husband, she explained, was a good man with ambition when we got married, but I guess he was spoiled by his parents because he was an only child”.

The whole problem we had was when he lost his job and started to drink, this led to abuse because he couldn't bear that I was working, so we got divorced.

“But he should know you are my wife now, so he should stay off” he blurted possessively

“Yes of course!” Celine said nervously.

She decided to keep quiet as they rode their horses.

They went further and ended up in a creek, which looked like a resting place where the horses could take water and relax.

I love this place, she spoke out admiringly.

“Yes, it is a beautiful place," he said, looking at her with an expression that made Celine wonder if he was talking about the place or her.

“I always come here when I need peace from the rest of the world," he drawled.

He came down from his horse with a swift movement as she watched mesmerized.

David came towards her horse and held the reins, coming closer, he stretched his hands towards her.

She put her hands on his shoulders while he put his hands on her waist to carry her off the horse.

David put her down and she quickly moved away from him, to put a little distance between them.

He noticed she was avoiding him,  but he said nothing.

“Come,” he said, leading her to a clear place on the grass.

He placed a mat he took from his horse on the ground, telling her to sit.

Celine sat by the edge, not wanting to go close to him.

He looked at her sceptically,l won't bite he said furrowing his brows.

She looked at him nervously, as she saw his indifferent attitude to her.

She moved a little closer as he brought out the sandwiches, his mother had told the maids to prepare, with some juice.

He offered the sandwiches and juice to her and told her to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Celine let her breath out as she relaxed, enjoying the sandwich and juice.

So what did you do for a living, when you were married to your ex?

“I am a chef,I love to cook. Cooking is my passion, I  was a chef in a restaurant” she answered.

That is good David said, admiring her the more.

That means you don't mind cooking sometimes when the maids are off their duties”, he said sheepishly.

Of course, I don't mind, she said, her face flushed.

David was surprised to see she was blushing.

But he said nothing, as they ate their sandwich in silence.

David stood up and went close to the stream.

Come over here Celine, he beckoned.

She stood up and joined him as they watched the horses together drinking water from the stream.

“Now that your ex-husband wants you back, what would you do about that?” he blurted out fiercely,

“Do you want to go back to him?”, he asked furrowing his brows.

She was infuriated suddenly and lashed back.

“Why would you think that?” she retorted defiantly.

Looking at his expression, she realised, he had been thinking about it for a while.

I have to ask you he said as his face hardened glaring at her.

“You don't need to ask if I am interested in going back to him, as I suffered much with him” she retorted, glaring back at him.

He came closer to her, his imposing male form nearly suffocating her.

“Wh what do you want?” she stammered, nervously.

She gasped as he pulled her closer to his body.

Her heart began to pound wildly making her face flushed.

As desire coerced into her, their gaze locked.

David looked into her eyes, and seeing the same desire that overwhelmed him too, he pressed his lips on hers.

This sent triggering fires of pleasure to Celine, her hands went round his shoulders as he pulled her to him, clinging as she put her fingers into his hair, straining against him.

Her mouth went from submissive to enthusiastic.

He had never experienced anything or anyone like her, it was just as if she had melted against him completely, her taste was fresh like the lilies that grow in his mother's garden.

“What was she doing to him?

“Why does his body react to her so quickly?”

“He hates to lose control like this over a woman,” he thought silently.

Suddenly they both heard the breaking of a twig, a little distance before them, making them pull apart quickly and look towards the direction of the sound.

The only thing they saw was the leaves rustling as if someone had been there.

David moved away from Celine and shouted with a deep masculine voice

“Who is there?”

Celine wrapped her arms around her as she suddenly felt apprehensive.

She watched David as he moved towards the area where the twig sound was heard, he checked around but couldn't see anyone.

I think there was someone here, but the person is gone now, he said, looking worried.

“Strange!” he thought, no one had ever come here before unless he was the one that brought them.

He had to talk to his stable workers about it.

He looked at  Celine as she fumbled with her blouse.

“Am sorry” he said,” I guess we were carried away by the moment”.

He was surprised to see her colour rise, but she said quickly.

“It's fine David”, please can we go back to the mansion?”

“Yes of course” he said, not knowing how she felt and what was bothering her, but this was the first time she had called him by name and he was surprised he liked it.

He helped her climb her horse, then went to his horse.

They both rode silently, each of them lost in their thoughts as they moved towards the mansion.
