Chapter 4

"You frightened me!"

She said accusingly with a hand on her chest which was beating fast, when she saw it was David.

He looked at her with narrowed eyes and strolled into the room.

“Am sorry, but you were so busy that I didn't want to disturb you”.

“Are you ready for bed?” he drawled.

The way he said it casually made a hot flush run over her face and weaken her knees.

She looked at him as he removed his shirt and went to the other side of the bed.

With a raised eyebrow he asked.

“Coming?”

“I….l….thought you would sleep on the sofa”, she stammered.

By now, her body was emitting different conflicting emotions, it was like a mix of embarrassment and confusion.

“Why would l sleep on the sofa? This is my room, and we are married, aren't we?”

He chuckled!

Hearing the sound made shivers run down her spine.

“Come here, Celine”.

He commanded with a husky voice.

She moved towards him and stood in front of him.

The smell of alcohol made her move a step back.

“Are you drunk?”, she asked accusingly.

“Am not drunk “he drawled again, I just took a little.

He moved closer to her and raised her chin with his hand.

Why are you shivering, are you cold? He whispered.

Celine's breathing hitched as he whispered close to her ears.

She looked up into his eyes and was lost in his gaze.

His blue eyes looked into hers, it was the most captivating eyes she had seen, deep blue alluring eyes over a muscular handsome face.

Something about his eyes felt so cold, yet so compelling.

His eyes traveled from her eyes to her lips, went further down her shoulders, and then her breast, and finally looked intently at her lips once again.

Suddenly, he pulled her to him, and she could feel his domineering masculine scent filled her nostrils. The smell of his cologne was expensive and alluring for a while.

“David”, she whispered his name so softly that she could not hear her voice.

“Uhh! he groaned as he crushed his lips on hers.

The impact of his lips made her knees weaken more, this made him pull her closer until she could feel her whole form pressed against him.

She tried to struggle and muffled some protest but it went unheeded,

Panic ran up her spine, then went down again as she was overwhelmed by pure desire.

She couldn't understand how her body reacted to him, all she knows is that her body leapt forward accepting his strength.

She came alive in his arms as David was kissing her as if he was tasting her lips. No other thing existed for her again, it was pure, new, exciting and at the same time frightening.

She was as irresistible as chocolate to a child, as fascinating as the need that sent their pulses racing.

He had thought no woman would bring this feeling in him but he was surprised by the attraction between them.

He dragged her hair back softly with his hands and plunged deeper into the moistness of her mouth.

The world was spinning for Celine, as she ran her hand over his back, with a moan she clung onto his shoulders, the waves of desire were making her head spin until she was breathless and limp.

She found herself on the bed and David's muscular chest sprawled on top of her, she noticed his hands started to fumble with her bra, and that was when reality set in and she became aware of her surroundings.

“David”, she pushed at his chest. “please stop”.

Why would I stop? "he growled with passion,” are you not my wife?”

“Yes but,

“No but” he whispered in her ear, moving down to her chest as he caressed her.

She gasped as his mouth fell on her nipples.

Suddenly, she panicked!

“Stop it!,” Stop it!,” Stop it!

He jerked away appalled by the agony in her voice.

“Am sorry” he managed to say, "did I hurt you?”

Celine shook her head quickly and wrapped her hands around her breasts trying to cover herself with the sheets.

David looked at how pathetic she looked, turning his back he put on his shirt.

I am sorry Celine he said once again, I was carried away by the moment.

Celine looked at him with tears in her eyes.

“Am sorry too David” she said shakenly

“I remembered something, that was why I had to stop you”.

David stood up

“What would make her shout in agony like that?”, he thought silently.

“Gosh! 

He ran his hand through his hair,” as if he had wanted to rape her”.

Looking back at her he asked abruptly.

“Did your ex-husband abuse you?”

Celine was startled, she looked up nervously to see his face emotionless, she couldn't figure out what he was thinking but she knew she could not lie to him.

“Yes! she said with a shaky voice 

He mostly was becoming obsessive especially when he had lost his job and that led him to abuse me.

“God! " he exclaimed, hardening his fist. He doesn't know why some men are beasts. He can never beat a woman because he feels women are to be respected in their own way, no matter the urge.

“How long have you been divorced from him now?”

“About six months”, Celine replied.

“It's fine” he said, "it's all in the past now, and you have to forget about it okay”.

“Go and wash your face and go to sleep”, he commanded. Tomorrow will be a long day.

He said it coldly and she flinched.

Celine got up and went to the bathroom to wash her face, coming back to the room, she saw that David had switched off the lights, turned his back to her and was sound asleep.

She got inside the covers, and looked across at him once again, wondering what he would be thinking of her now.

“How would she face him in the morning?” she thought silently, with embarrassment.

Later listening to David's breathing, she was also engulfed by sleep as her body finally relaxed from the activities of the

She woke up to the birds chirping close to the windows,

It was a beautiful morning, one that can be full of activities.

Turning, she saw that David was still asleep.

She got up from the bed and moved to the bathroom to brush her teeth and have an early morning shower, moving back to the room, she saw that David was awake.

Looking at him, she suddenly felt shy of the night's escapees.

“Good morning,” she muttered nervously.

“Good morning', he burst out coldly, frowned and went to the bathroom.

She was shocked by his behavior, it seems he woke up in a bad mood this morning.

She should avoid him, she advice herself 

She went over to the wardrobe and put on a pair of blue jeans and a red T-shirt. She wanted to look casual this morning.

Looking around the room once again and making sure she made the bed as it had crumbled from last night's sleep, she closed the bedroom door and headed for the kitchen.

As she entered the kitchen, the maids greeted her nervously with a chorus greeting.

“Good morning my lady”

“Good morning “she answered, smiling at them.

Seeing her smile and her charm, they relaxed.

“What are we having for breakfast?” she asked.

One of them answered.

“My lady, we made pancakes, bread, bacon, and eggs, with tea, coffee and juice”.

That'sgoodo,d” she said,” I will leave you to continue your cooking”.

“Thank you my lady”, they chorused in reply, giggling to themselves happily as they continued with their work.

She went out of the big kitchen and looked around her environment. A big Oak door was leading to the left and she could hear birds chirping, her curiosity got the best of her and she moved towards the sound.

“Oh my!" she busted with astonishment,” This is beautiful”.

Outside was a beautiful garden with flowers like red roses, and pink roses, and on the other side of the garden she saw yellow Lilies. It was a sight to behold, the fragrance was very pleasant and she felt she was in another world.

It was a peaceful, inviting and pleasant atmosphere.

“Come over here my dear” the baroness called with a chuckle in her voice, seeing Celine's reaction.

Celine laughed back and greeted her.

“Mother, good morning, this garden is so beautiful”, she said excitedly with a bright smile.

“Good morning Celine”, the baroness smiled,”l know you would like it, so I told the maids to serve breakfast here”.

“Come, sit with me”, she pointed to a chair in front of her and Celine sat down.

“How are you this morning” she asked

politely.

“Am good thank you, mother”.

“Mother, this is a peaceful, well-kept garden, it's one of the best I have ever seen”.

“Thanks to my gardener”, the baroness replied with a smile," he takes care of the garden”.

“I love being here and spend most of my days here, especially when my son is at work, but now you are here and I very much appreciate the company, my dear”.

Celine smiled at her,

“I love the garden Mother, of course, I will always keep you company when you come down here”.

“Who is keeping who company?"David strolled in with a masculine voice that made her senses pursed as she heard him come into the garden.
