"What is he going to do now? Is he going to kill me?" She asked anxiously as they all walked back to the kitchen.

"Hey, why did you run out like that? See how you made the boss fall," Vivian said.

"Oh, poor me, the village girl in me just resurfaced" she cried and they all laughed.

"Oh, I've never seen the boss so embarrassed before" one of the ladies put in.

"Yes, did you see the look on his face?" Another one asked and they all laughed again.

"Wait, why do I have a feeling that you did it on purpose? To get back at him for what he did last night?" Vivian asked as she looked at Alex who was smiling.

"No, I didn't, but it was nice anyway, sweet revenge" she said and they all laughed again.

"Come on girls, get busy" Vivian ordered and they all began to get busy.

"Is he always like this? Mean? Cold? Arrogant?" She asked as she continued chopping the tomatoes.

"Not really, though he isn't nice, but he wasn't this worse. Everything changed when Barbara came in," Vivian replied and her eyes bulged.

"Barbara? His first wife?" She asked.

"Yes," Mary replied.

"I heard he tried to murder her, is it true?" She whispered and she noticed how uneasy her question made them feel.

"Oh, sorry for asking" she said as she saw the awkward look they gave her.

She was preparing the table when she saw him walking down the stairs, handsomely dressed in a black turtleneck top and black pants.

"Sir, Sir!" She called over to him but he paid little or no attention to her as he walked past the living room.

"Sir, your breakfast is ready!" She shouted as she ran after him.

She hurried to the door and she stood at the doorpost and watched him walk to the red Maserati parked in front of the building.

"Sir, won't you have your breakfast?" She continued speaking but he ignored her and stepped into the car with the guards and she watched dejectedly as the car zoomed out of the yard.

She walked back into the house, crestfallen. She walked over to the dining table and she ate a part of the breakfast slowly.

"Why should I even bother? Bother about him not touching my food?" She asked as she continued eating.

**

She opened her eyes and found herself on the couch. She had slept off on the couch while watching TV that night. She looked at the huge clock on the wall and it was 9:30pm already.

She hasn't seen Adrian since he left the house this morning. She had prepared dinner and was waiting for him to come back before going to bed.

She sighed and laid on the couch again as she saw no sign of him. Just then, she heard sounds from the foyer. She stood up and adjusted her clothes as the sounds came closer.

Her heart skipped for a moment as she saw him walking into the living room, with two erotically dressed ladies besides him.

She placed her gaze on the floor as soon as they walked into the living room.

"Wel..welcome home, sir" she stammered as he turned to look at her with a smirk on his face.

He chuckled and looked away as the ladies caressed his chest with his hands on their waists.

"Girls, let's go upstairs, and show me what you've got" he said as he smacked their bums and they both giggled as they all walked up the stairs.

She remained in her spot for a few seconds as she felt a little bitter at what she had seen. He didn't even respect their marriage for just a day, she thought as she looked at the ring on her finger.

"Well, I don't even like him and he doesn't like me too, why should I be angry? He can do whatever he likes, I don't care" she said to herself as she switched off the TV and proceeded up the stairs.

He let out a sigh as he walked into the room with the ladies. They both giggled and jumped on his bed. He frowned and looked away from them.

He hated to do this. He has never picked up prostitutes in his life, but he had to do it just to spite his little peasant wife.

He had seen the looks on her face when he walked in, and he seemed appeased by it. He knew how every woman hates an adulterous husband and he needed to be one, so she would probably get fed up and leave, he thought as a smirk appeared on his face.

"Baby, come to bed" he heard the girls calling.

He ignored them and walked over to the bar. He was about to get a drink when he heard a knock on the door.

He paused for a moment as he thought of who possibly could be at the door. As he opened the door, he saw her standing before him with a moody face. Has she come to fight? He thought as he looked at her with a smirk on his face.

He knows how these low class women behave. He knows how they like fighting just to keep a man and he was sure she had come over for one.

As she stood in front of him, she could see him staring at her with a smirk on his face. She heard the girls laughing and chatting while calling on him to come.

"I'll be there, babes," he sounded.

Her heart skipped at his words and she tried to look into the room.

"What .what are you doing?!" He scowled.

"No..nothing" she replied as she looked away from him.

"What do you want?" He asked at once.

"Um…I'm going to bed. I prepared dinner, in case you and your girls would like to eat, `` she said tenderly.

For a long time in his life, he felt his heart sink. He never expected these words from her and he somehow became disappointed. He looked away from her face and his gaze lowered to the floor.

"I..I don't need your food! Just get out!" He barked as his face hardened.

"Yes.. yes sir" she stammered as she hurried out immediately.

He let out a sigh of frustration as he stood on the doorpost dejectedly. He walked into the room angrily and moved over to get a drink.

"Baby.. we're waiting" one of the girls said seductively.

"Hey, get your stuff and get out of my room!" He barked as he walked over to them.

"What? What have we done?" The other girl asked in surprise.

He walked over to the drawer beside the bed and brought out bundles of money which he threw at them.

"Now get out! Showtime is over" he said and gulped down his drink.

"We'll leave, wow..cool cash" the girls said in excitement as they took the money and stood up.

"But I would love to have a taste of your body.." one of the girls said as she walked closer to him.

"Just get out!" He yelled as he pushed her away.

"Sorry..sorry" they said as they both hurried out of the room.

He sat on the bed angrily as he tried to catch his breath. He doesn't know why he was so paranoid at the moment. In fact, every little thing upsets him right now, he thought as he stood up and walked over to the mirror.

He wasn't this way some years ago, and then, Barbara happened, he thought as he stared at his reflection in the mirror while panting heavily.

**

She hummed the music playing in the living room as she prepared the dining table that morning. She had woken up as early as possible to prepare breakfast for everyone, including her monster of a husband, Adrian.

She was still spreading out the dishes when she saw him walking down the stairs in the middle of his bodyguards who were all walking hastily.

Her heart melted as she saw him dressed handsomely in his usual black suit and tie. She was still lost in admiration when she saw his face turning towards her. She looked away immediately and her heart skipped.

"Sir!" She called as she saw him walking towards the foyer with the men.

He paid no attention to her as he marched out with the men.

"Sir, your breakfast is ready!" She shouted after him.

As he walked out of the house, he could still hear her calling behind him. The door of his car opened and he stepped into the car.

Through the window, he could see her standing dejectedly on the doorstep as the car ignited and drove away. He sighed and looked away from her.

He wondered how she got a heart to still make him breakfast every morning, despite everything he had done to her.

Maybe he wasn't doing his best to make her hate him, he thought. He needed to devise new plans that would make him disgusting in her sight just as he disgusts her so much.

She hurried into the house and walked over to the dining table. She saw Vivian walking out of the kitchen with Bose beside her.

"Does he normally skip breakfast? Or he doesn't want to eat my food?" She asked as she sat on the chair dejectedly.

"Both. Normally, he doesn't eat breakfast before going to work" she said.

"But that isn't good for his health, maybe I should pack it up in a flask and send it over to him" she suggested.

"Hmm, he might not like it" Bose said.

"Well, it won't be bad to give it a try," Vivian said and she smiled.

**

With his glasses on, he punched a few words into the computer on the table. The door opened and he saw a tall, fair, able bodied man walking into the office, carrying a small backpack.

A wry smile appeared on his face and he took off his glasses.

"Hello, Mr Steel, sorry to disturb you at such early hours of work" the man said as he walked over to the desk.

"Oh, Scott, it's fine. You are doing a bigger job for me and I can receive you at anytime" he said with a smile and the man nodded as he took his seat.

"So, any news?" He asked with his hands on the desk as he looked at the man in anticipation.

"From my recent findings, she is out of the country. Right now as we speak, she is in Mexico" the man replied.

He sighed and relaxed on his chair.

"And the girl?" He asked.

"They're still together," he replied.

"Look, Scot," he said seriously as he gulped. "I need to know the welfare of my daughter. I don't care about Barbara's whereabouts. All I care about is my daughter" he pointed out.

"I agree, Mr Steel, just be patient and I will give you results" he said, assuringly.

He relaxed on his seat with his hand cupped around his chin.

"I'll take my leave now" the man said as he stood up.

"If you need anything, call me" he said and he nodded and walked out.

He was about to go deep in thought when the door opened and he saw one of the guards walk in with a white poly bag.

"What?" He asked at once.

"Your wife delivered this to you" he replied as he dropped the bag on the desk.

He became puzzled for a moment and he looked at the guard in surprise.

"What's in there?" He asked.

The guard opened the bag and brought out a big food flask. He opened the flask and mouth watering noodles appeared on the flask.

He tried to control his composure as he saw the food. He sighed in frustration as he didn't know what kind of woman she was.

How dare she bring her dirty food to his place of work? He asked.

He put on his glasses and turned his attention to his computer.

"Empty that in the trash" he ordered.

"What? You say?" The guard asked in surprise.

"I said empty that in the trash!" He yelled.

"Yes, sir!" He voiced as he took the flask off the table.

"And pass the message to her that her food was emptied in the trash" he added with a smirk.

"Yes, sir!" The guard voiced again as he stepped out of the office.

As she laid on the couch that night, she heard his footsteps as he approached the living room. She stood up immediately as she saw him walking towards the stairs.

"Welcome home, sir" she greeted with humility.

He looked at her for a second and then turned away.

"Dinner is ready" she said but he ignored her and walked up the stairs.

She sat on the chair dejectedly as he walked away. She knew about how he had trashed her food that morning and it killed her a lot. Tonight, she had summoned the courage to prepare dinner for him and still, he had paid no attention to her.

Is there anything else she needed to do to please him? She thought. Well, as long as he doesn't abuse her physically, she is okay with it, she said to herself.

She stood up and walked over to the dining room to take the food away before heading up to her room.

As he sat on the bed, he thought about her. How she had welcomed him home and also prepared dinner even after he had trashed her food in the morning. He knew he was the reason she had always stayed up late into the night. None of the women he had ever come across has ever treated him this way. Not even the one he had given all his heart to, he thought as he took off his glasses slowly.

Well, he wasn't going to fall for all these cheap tricks any longer. He knew she was just acting up and pretending to be better than the rest. By the time he is done with her, she would reveal her true side, he thought.
