~Storme~

“She’s been crawling into my bed every night, trying to seduce me. And while I was trying to leave the house a few minutes ago, she grabbed me and started to kiss me. I tried to stop her but I didn’t want to hurt her. She was too determined to have me in her bed by hook or crook”

My jaw dropped at the blatant accusation that danced around the room. I shook my head frantically, knowing what would happen if I didn’t dispute the accusation.

“That’s a lie!” I cried, “He tried to force himself on me. He tried to rape me!”

I think I saw the colorful stars dancing around in my vision before I felt the pain that swished through me. I grabbed my cheeks, trying to douse the hotness that came with my stepmother’s slap.

“Are you trying to call my son a bad person?” My stepmother snarled, her eyes a fiery furnace.

“But it’s true. He’s been trying to force himself on me ever since you—”

Another heavy slap sent me reeling and grabbing the air for anything to steady myself. I managed to open eyes which I was sure was going to turn black in a few hours, and saw my father hovering over me.

“You’re such a disgrace to this family, and this Pack, Storme.” He spat, irritation lining his tone. “It isn’t enough that you killed my wife or that you decided to have a dormant and useless wolf; you’ve also decided to be promiscuous to the extent of trying to force yourself on your brother?”

I blinked back tears, “I didn’t do it, Father. Why won’t you believe me?”

He eyed me warily. “Only a fool will believe you, Storme. You’ll spend some time in the dungeon to think about your actions while we wait for your husband.”

****************************************************

The cold stone floor of the dungeon bit into my skin, leeching away the warmth from my bones. I lay there, curled up, shivering, as the damp air clawed at my throat. My tears had dried hours ago, leaving only a dull ache. No more tears. What was the point? No one would hear me. No one would care.

The darkness was suffocating, pressing in on me from all sides. I stared up at the ceiling, my body too exhausted to move, my mind too numb to do anything but think.

No one understood how an alpha’s daughter could be so... weak, so incomplete. I was broken in their eyes. Useless. Even as a child, I had seen the way my father looked at me with disappointment, as if I had failed him just by existing.

Perhaps that was why he had sold me to that wretched old Alpha King Marcellus. The mere thought of him made my stomach twist in revulsion. I had never met him, but his reputation was enough to fill me with dread. He was old, cruel, violent, and a tyrant among alphas. And I was to be his bride.

I let out a hollow laugh, though it was more of a sob.

Bride.

Was that even the right word for what I was? I was nothing more than a bargaining chip, something to be traded for power and alliances.

I closed my eyes, trying to hold back the sobs that threatened to break free.

As the hours dragged on, I lost all sense of time. I had no idea how long I had been down here.

And then, just as I began to drift into a restless, haunted sleep, I heard footsteps.

The door to my cell creaked open, and two guards stood there, their faces blank. “Get up,” one of them barked.

I was too weak to resist. They hauled me to my feet, and my legs wobbled beneath me. My body was sore, my skin bruised from the rough floor as they dragged me up.

When I reached the sitting room, my stepmother was waiting for me. Her lips curled into a cruel smile as she looked me up and down, her eyes gleaming with disdain.

“Look at you,” she sneered. “Such a mess. But you don’t have to worry. I’ll make you very presentable for your husband. It’s time you left this house already.”

My husband.

The word felt like poison in my mouth.

Without another word, she gestured to one of the servants, who brought out a chair. They sat me down, and my stepmother began to work, covering my bruises and scars with layers and layers of makeup.

“You should be grateful, Storme,” she said as she powdered my face, “At least someone is willing to take you. After all, who would want a girl with a dormant wolf?”

I bit my lip, swallowing the retort in my throat.

When she was done, she stepped back and smiled, satisfied with her work. “There. Almost buyable. Take her to meet her husband”

“What? He’s already here?” I asked, suddenly finding my voice.

“Did you think that I cared enough for you to waste my time trying to cover your scars?” she taunted.

Of course. But I hadn’t expected it to be so soon.

“Can I at least say goodbye to my father?”

She rolled her eyes at me. “Your father doesn’t want anything to do with you, Storme. He’s happy to sell you off. He’s content with my son and I. So, go and meet your old husband, and don’t come back here ever again”

She gestured to the guards, and they took me again, leading me outside, where a car awaited. I was shoved inside. Two tight-faced men sat at the back, and I knew better than to try to engage them in any conversation.

We rode in silence, and when we arrived at Alpha King Marcellus’s estate, the guards led me to the main hall, where he was waiting. The moment I saw him, my blood ran cold. He looked like he was in his late sixties, and had a pot belly that barely held in the shirt that he had tucked into his trousers. His eyes lingered on me sultrily, making my skin crawl.

“Prepare and bring her to my room immediately,” he said.

And that was it. No introductions, no preliminaries, just straight to the point. Soon enough, maids were fussing over my dress and hair. When they were done, they took me to King Marcellus’s room.

All the years that I’d spent obsessing about how it would be when I finally lost my V-card to my mate didn’t prepare me for this. It certainly didn’t prepare me for laying it down to a man who I found terribly unattractive and old.

As soon as we were alone, I gathered what little courage I had left. “King Marcellus,” I whispered, my voice trembling. “Please... I don’t... I’m not ready for this.”

He turned to me, his eyes narrowing. “Not ready?”

I swallowed hard, forcing myself to speak. “I’m... I’m a virgin. I’ve never been with anyone. Please, I just... I need time.”

For a moment, he said nothing. Then, without warning, he grabbed me by the arm, yanking me close. “Time?” he growled, his garlic-filled breath washing over my face. “You think you get to make demands of me? You belong to me now. Your body, your soul, I’ve paid for you. Your father willingly sold you to me.”

I flinched, terror coursing through me. “Please—”

But he didn’t listen. His grip tightened, and he pushed me down onto the bed. I tried to fight, tried to resist, but he was too strong. He tore at my clothes, and I felt a scream rising in my throat, but it was trapped behind the choking sobs that threatened to spill out.

“Stop,” I begged, my voice breaking. “Please…stop!”

But he didn’t. He silenced my cries with his body, overpowering me, and the pain that followed was unbearable. Punches landed on my stomach, making me gasp for breath.

I couldn’t breathe for a while. It felt as if my lungs had been broken and I couldn’t get oxygen up there.

Not minding my plight, King Marcellus yanked my legs apart and barged into my hymen, tearing his way in without mercy. I cried out in pain but I was met with another blinding slap. He continued to force his way in until he was done violating me.

When it was over, I lay there, broken and numb, my body trembling uncontrollably. He stood, adjusting his clothes, looking down at me with utmost satisfaction. I could see the bloodstains on his trousers as he adjusted them.

My innocence, taken away in the blink of an eye. Just like that.

Tears blurred my vision, but I couldn’t bring myself to wipe them away. I felt hollow, empty. I had nothing left.

“Is anyone out there?” he called, and two men entered the room, their faces blank.

“Take her to the dungeon,” King Marcellus ordered, his voice cold and uncaring. “Let her think about what happens to disobedient brides.”

The guards grabbed me, pulling me to my feet. I was too weak to resist, too shattered to care. They dragged me back through the halls, down the stairs, and threw me into another cell.

This cell was no different from the one my father had condemned me to. It was cold, dark, and merciless. I collapsed onto the stone floor, my body aching.

The pain was unbearable, but it wasn’t just the physical pain. It was the knowledge that I was nothing. I had no wolf. No future. I’d been doomed.

~Storme~I had lost track of the days I spent in the dungeon. My body ached from the cold, and my stomach was hollow from the little food they gave me. I had fallen from an alpha’s daughter to a prisoner in a place that was more a grave than a room. My body trembled, both from the cold and the horror that had become my life.King Marcellus had thrown me down here like I was nothing, his punishment for my unwillingness to submit on that first terrible night. I had been naïve to hope that he might show mercy. But mercy was not something men like Marcellus possessed. He had taken from me, broken me, and now he had left me here to rot. When the guards finally came to release me, my first instinct was disbelief. I was released with orders, barked at with as little care as if I were a dog. “Wash up,” the guard said with a sneer. “The alpha wants you to prepare his food, and it better be perfect.”My throat was so dry that I couldn’t respond even if I had the strength. ~Theo~I watched her as she hurried away, her head down, clutching the tray as if it were a lifeline. My eyes followed her, unable to tear themselves away. The girl, whoever she was, had just collided with me moments ago, sending everything flying to the ground, yet all I could think about was the jolt that shot through my body when our lips had almost touched. It wasn’t just a simple accident. There was something more, something different in that brief contact. My wolf stirred inside me, more alert than it had been in a long time, pacing in the back of my mind, restless and excited. I couldn’t understand why. Her scent lingered in the air; soft, delicate, and something else. My heart still hadn’t settled, thudding against my ribcage with an intensity I hadn’t felt in ages. I caught myself longing to feel her touch again, the warmth of her skin against mine.“Who is she?” I muttered under my breath, still staring down the corridor where she’d disappeared.“What’s that, Theo?” my beta

~Storme~Nothing had prepared me for the sight before me. It was perhaps the most deliciously forbidden thing that I’d ever laid my eyes on. The glorious naked body of the perfect stranger that I’d barged into on my way to king Marcellus’s room this afternoon. My eyes moved before my brain. Slowly trailing my hungry eyes down his chest, I couldn’t believe how someone could be so physically perfect. It was so glaring that the moon goddess certainly has her favorites. He had the chest of a bodybuilder, hard, as I already knew from when I bumped into him, wide and solid. A large wolf tattoo ran from his left chest down to his bulging biceps. It was beautiful, and one of the most unique tattoos that I’d ever seen. Little traces of hair formed on the hollow between his chest and ran down to his torso, making me desperately want to run my hands on them.Still unable to stop my eyes from trespassing, I followed the trail of hair down to the region where it stopped. And when I saw it, the sal

It was a habit that he had picked up over the years during his early ages of conquest. Little wonder he was able to restrategize and wipe out his enemies mercilessly. He had a knack for sniffing out even the tiniest details. This time, however, he wouldn’t be able to sniff out his bride hiding behind my door.“I was passing by and I realized that you haven’t gotten to meet my new bride yet.” He said.I feigned surprise, my lips widening pleasantly. “You took another bride?”He nodded. “I got fed up with the blonde from the Crescent Pack so I had to get myself a younger one from the Normadic Wolves.”“Aren’t you a bit

~Storme~The moment I escaped from the clutches of this stranger, who I now knew as King Marcellus’s son, I hurriedly found my way to the king’s room. Waiting was a virtue that I’d come to know that the king didn’t possess, and I wasn’t in the state of mind to let him use my body as a way to release pent-up frustration.Immediately I opened the door, I saw him seated on his bed, his face scrunched up and his countenance broody. He was already vexed, no doubt.“Where were you?” he questioned without sparing me a glance. My heart jumped into my stomach at the dread that coated his words. There was no way he could have noticed that I’d been in his son’s room, right?I tried to use my wolf’s discernment to read his body language and facial expressions, but I came up with nothing. Who was I kidding? It wasn’t as if my wolf had miraculously started functioning the way a normal alpha wolf would.“Erm…I was…I was in the kitchen” I blurted out before I could even think about what I’d said.Tha

~Storme~The grand dining hall was so luxurious and Magnificent. One look at it, and there would be no doubt that this was indeed a royal diner. Servants filed in and out of the hall, carrying with them trays of food and setting them down on the massive mahogany table before us. Massive chandeliers adorned with crystals glittered above us, casting a beautiful shadow on the long mahogany table lined with dishes fit for a royal feast. The scent of roasted meats, fresh herbs, and spiced wine filled the air, yet my appetite was nonexistent. My heart pounded against my ribcage as I sat stiffly near the king, painfully aware of the glare of the man seated on the other side of the table.Theo.His gaze was unflinching, almost burning a hole through my forehead. It wasn’t gentle, or flirty. It was pissed. Annoyed. Vengeful. Almost as if he was planning some kind of devious plan that he couldn’t wait to execute. His presence was magnetic. He had no idea that the tension in the room had nothing to do with polite conversation.“That’s good to hear,” Marcellus said, raising his glass in a toast. “I trust you’ll make her feel welcome.”Theo’s grin deepened, and he shook his head. “Of course, Father. In fact, I’d be happy to give her a tour of the Palace after dinner.”The king nodded approvingly, oblivious to the undercurrent of Theo’s offer. I, on the other hand, felt a wave of panic. Spending more time alone with Theo was the last thing I needed, but there was no polite way to refuse.Soon, we were done with dinner. True to his promise, Theo stood and offered me his hand. “Shall we?”I hesitated, my mind racing f

Both in battle and when it comes to matters of the kingdom. King Marcellus wouldn’t waste time in having the head of whoever flaunted his order, alphas and Pack members alike. When he got older, he had looked up to me to carry on with his legacy, but I was a far cry from what he is. I preferred not to see the heads of innocent people severed from their spasming bodies. If there was anything I loved more, it was women. And no, I never want them in that forever bond type of way. ~Storme~I didn’t know how long I’d been here. The dungeon didn’t offer much in the way of timekeeping, but I’d counted the times sunlight filtered through the tiny grate high up on the wall. Two days. Maybe three. I couldn’t keep counts anymore. My throat burned. My lips were cracked. My stomach had stopped growling. Now, it just hurt. They hadn’t given me food. No water. Nothing but the cold floor and the stink of dirt and rot for comfort.Theo’s visit had given me a little bit of hope. Seeing him gave me a strength that I’d lacked these past days. And knowing that he was okay made me happy. But now that he was gone, I was back to my old helpless self.I curled tighter into myself, trying to fight the dizziness. But it was no use. That was when it happened again.I stood in a wide open field that looked oddly familiar like the field I used to run to for comfort in the Normadic Wolves. In front of me was the same woman I’d seen before in these visions that I’ve had. This time, there

~Theo~Pain greeted me before my consciousness stepped in. It was sharp, seated in the back of my head like a hammer was trying to split my bone in two. I groaned, and dragged a hand across my face, a skull-cracking headache romancing the entirety of my head. As my eyes opened, everything came back to me in blinding flashes: Storme’s broken expression, her being dragged away, my father’s voice accusing her of treason and condemning her to death.I shot upright immediately, the migraines suddenly forgotten. Theo and Grace watched with puzzled expression as they tried to hold me still. But that wasn’t the plan for me.“Theo, wait—!”Fred’s voice was too late. I was already yanking off the sheets and throwing my legs over the side of the bed. Before I could leave my room, he blocked my path, concern written all over his face. “You can’t just jump out of bed and leave, Theo. You need to rest. You’ve been unconscious since last night.”“Where is she?” I rasped.Fred lowered his eyes, atte

~Storme~The cold was worse tonight. Not the kind that seeped through bones, but the kind that makes you think about the vicissitudes of life. The uneven floor pressed against my spine like cracked, jagged teeth, and each breath I took was filled with the stale, damp air. My wrists ached where the silver chains had rubbed my skin raw, and my lips were dry, cracked. Grace hadn’t been allowed to visit. I hadn’t seen another face all day. Only rats. And silence. And shadows.“Is this really how I’m going to die? Without seeing people that I love?”A choked sob escaped my throat. I was weak. I was too weak to fight. My back was still aching with the strokes of canes that the guards had lashed out on me after the trial, which I learned was the alpha king’s command. That devil in disguise. What kind of man was he anyway? Even if he was furious with y actions, could he not even spare his own son? He had stood there, watching as Karen injected his son with a substance that could be dangerous

~Storme~After a torturous night and a nightmare that didn’t seem to end, it was past dawn. I could hear footsteps coming towards me. They were fast and hurried. I crawled out from the corner of the cell where I’d gone to avoid getting wet from the faulty ceiling, and blind-patted my way to the door. The cell door creaked open, and the torchlight stung my eyes. I blinked fast, adjusting to the sudden brightness. Before I could move, rough hands yanked me up by the arm. I winced.“Get up, slut,” a voice sneered. It was a voice that I would recognize even in death. Karen, my biggest antagonist yet.“The alpha king, in his great mercy, has decided to give you a fair trial. Even if we both know that it’s useless, he wants to give you a fighting chance.”The public trial. It was the nightmare of every accused wolf in Castillo Tribe. I wouldn’t call that a trial, because it was just an avenue to let the Tribe people do whatever they deem fit with you before you’re finally sentenced. It was

~Storme~This was almost like a second home to me. For someone who had spent the better parts of her growing up life in a dungeon, I guess I could call it just that. I’ve communed with mice and geckos more probably more than any so-called alpha’s daughter, or queen. The dungeon was pitch-black now. The little bit of light from the moon had disappeared, leaving only the sound of water dripping from the faulty ceiling, and the occasional scurrying rat to remind me that I was still alive.I curled tighter into myself, shivering on the cold, rough floor. My skin ached. My lip had split open again. The cramps on my lower belly was starting to act up again, and the nausea was starting to come back in torrents. The smell of everything in the dungeon irritated me.I closed my eyes, and concentrated on counting from 1-100 backwards. It was something that helped me whenever I felt anxious, or agitated. Somehow it brought me a little bit of peace. I felt myself becoming more relaxed, and my body

~Storme~The words hung in the air like a stubborn fog that has refused to clear away. For a moment, no one moved. Not even the guards.Theo snapped out of the shock first. “Don’t you dare!”Marcellus, whose eyes were now red, swallowed by rage, growled at the guards who were hesitant and confused on whose orders to obey. “Seize the traitor now!”I stumbled back as two armored guards lunged toward me. Theo struggled in the grip of the warriors still holding him, thrashing, snarling like a beast as the veins in his neck bulged. “Let me go! Storme—!”I tried to run away instinctively, even though I had no idea why I thought that it was a great idea, but one of them caught me by the waist and slammed me against the cold pillar. My cheekbone cracked against the cold stone, and I tasted blood again.“Stop!” Theo roared. “You can’t do this—”“I can do whatever I want with her!” Marcellus bellowed. “The sooner you understand and accept that fact, the better for you in this kingdom.”I fought

~Storme~It felt like I’d just signed my second death sentence when I noticed Marcellus and the guards behind him. He was breathing heavily, and his eyes had turned red. There was no denying what had happened between his son and me. there was no way I could deny it. Not with my dress almost off my body, and Theo’s shirt thrown away in a corner. The truth was just too glaring.“I can explain—” I started, trying to adjust my dress as decently as possible, my voice trembling as I stared at Marcellus’s wide, enraged eyes. But he didn’t let me finish. What happened next felt like it was edited in an extremely forward motion. I barely saw his fist before it slammed into Theo’s jaw with a crack that echoed throughout the room. I let out a gasp as Theo staggered backward, blood spraying from his lips.“No!” I rushed forward, but Theo caught himself before he fell. He wiped his mouth with the back of his hand, then looked up at his father.“Don’t,” I whispered to him, begging with my eyes. “Pl

~Karen~The thanksgiving feast was an utter disaster in my eyes. From the moment Storme walked into the hall, basking in the attention of the alphas and dignitaries, to the Alpha King’s half-hearted speech thanking the Moon Goddess for sparing his queen’s life, every single second grated on my nerves.I’d kept my expression neutral, but inside, I was seething. I could tell that the Alpha King’s words were nothing but a formality, lacking any real emotion. His tone was dry, detached, as if he were merely checking off a duty on a long list of royal obligations. I almost rolled my eyes as he finished the dry speech.Favor? From the Moon Goddess? What a joke. If Storme had truly died, I would have personally made an offering to thank the heavens. But Theo had to push things further, of course, forcing me to say a prayer for my sworn enemy, someone that I would have snapped her neck as she sat pretty on that table if I had the opportunity. The prayers tasted like bile to me as I spoke, but

She moved with an air of entitlement, her expression rigid as she sat across from me, smoothing her gown as if she were settling in for a long chat. I didn’t trust her presence, but I forced a polite smile expected from a queen."How are you doing?" she asked, her voice falsely sweet."I’m okay," I replied evenly.I knew better than to let my guard down around her.
