96. Bird cage

The still-throbbing pain in her temple blurred her vision of her surroundings as her feet brought her to a stop. Kiara was in the middle of blurred leaves and trunks.

The voice was already gone. But she felt that the presence of someone calling her was so close. Someone who could be anywhere around where she is standing right now, shrouded by the looming darkness and watching over her when she is unable to see him.

Werewolves had keen eyesight that could pierce through the darkness, but that did not apply to her vision when she was in her human form. Her human eyes did not have the advantage of that vision and just realized it when she grew up.

The girl squinted her eyes through the woods to see how far she had gone. There was nothing she could see beyond the thick woodland and she had already lost the direction back to the shelter. But faint and very-very far to reach, her ears caught Rosemary's voice calling for her name.
