LEON

I wanted to laugh right in her face when she said she could help me walk again. Was she serious? Did she think I was that gullible? The only way she could make that happen would be if she had some kind of magic powers or maybe if she was a witch.

The whole thing felt ridiculous, almost like a joke. Maybe she thought I was so desperate to walk again that I’d cling to any shred of hope, no matter how far-fetched it sounded. But I wasn’t that person anymore. Part of me wondered if she was trying to mess with me, to play some cruel game or maybe she was trying to play around with me because she thought I was desperate to walk again.

When the accident happened, and the doctor looked me in the eyes and told me I would never be able to walk again, I didn’t take him seriously. I brushed off his words like they were nothing, convinced he didn’t know what he was talking about. In my mind, I believed there had to be a solution. I had the money, after all, money could fix anything, couldn

Naya I took my phone and switched it on for the first time in a long while. Ever since I got the call from the doctor, that was the last time I recall using my phone. It was even quite surprising that it didn't go missing.I needed to start researching different therapies that could help Leon. I wasn’t ready to give up not yet. Maybe if I prepared a detailed presentation, outlining all the possible treatments and how we could begin them, it would convince him to at least try. Before I dropped out, my major was human physiology and physiotherapy, so I wasn’t completely clueless. I understood how the body worked, especially the vital nerves that send signals from the brain to the legs. I knew about the importance of neural pathways, muscle stimulation, and regeneration. I remember reading about experimental treatments, stem cell research, and advanced physiotherapy techniques. There had to be something, some breakthrough I could find, no matter how small, that could give us a starting

When I got to my room there was a dinner gown on my bed with a pair of silver heels and a little note that read “for today”Who was he to pick out my outfit for me like I was some doll for him to dress up, I wanted to rebel and wear something else but I needed to gain his favor in a way so I had to bend to his will.I opened the jacket carefully, revealing the gown inside. It was a stunning, full-length black dress with a single strap that draped elegantly over my shoulder. The fabric was soft and smooth, hugging my body in all the right places while flowing down into a graceful hem that just brushed the floor. Tiny black beads were sewn all over the gown, catching the light with every movement and creating a subtle shimmer, like stars scattered across a midnight sky. The neckline was simple yet sophisticated, dipping just enough to hint at elegance without being too revealing. I didn’t want to arrive looking plain or unremarkable. I wanted to make a statement. I wanted them to see

Nick helped Leon out of the car and into his wheelchair while I waited so we could go in together. The venue was a big ass mansion the type that you see in movies, it was so high that I had to tilt my neck to see the top of it “Here,” Nick said “What?” I asked not getting what he was saying, my mind was else were trying to calm my racking nerves, I couldn't let it get the best of me. “You would be the one to wheel him in,” Nick said“Oh okay,” I said taking the handle of the chair from him“Whose house is this?” I leaned in and asked Nick, there was no use asking Leon anything, he made a very simple question seem difficult so I rather direct my questions to someone willing to answer them“This is the Valois mansion, the home of Kane Valois before he passed” he explained to me in an almost whisper. That made sense that it belonged to their father because of how massive it was“Can you stop gossiping and let us go in?” Leon said making me roll my eyes at him“You’ve got this” Nick sa

The silence turned into whispers some were whispering while others were snickering to one another at what I said, I began to regret saying it like that it made it sound like I was thrilled to be a part of their weird family but I just said it because I didn’t want to refer to myself as a Genrey so I went with Valois but that was my new identity regardless of what they thought.“I’m sorry” I whispered to Leon who had been quiet the whole time he was probably holding himself back from reacting to my nonsense. He told me to stick with him and it seemed I was doing too much.“About what?” He asked, I couldn’t tell how he meant it, his face was just blank no emotions on it “For talking too much,” I said“I didn’t complain” he simply said and continued facing ahead, he didn’t say it with words but it was a go-ahead to keep going. If Leon didn’t care then there was no reason for me to be quiet “She didn’t lie did she, she is now part of the family and we should welcome her with open arms,”

KAYLAI was excited to go for the dinner we were invited to by the Valois, it was supposed to be a dinner to welcome Naya into their family which I didn't care about ever since what happened at the funeral that she kept cursing us out calling mom and dad by their names made every tie will have with her break. Not only was she an ungrateful piece of shit, she kept making it seem like we were the ones that killed her stupid sister when she should be grateful to us for ending her pain once and for all. I'm sure Nyla would be grateful to us for ending the treatment.I would always blame my parents for picking them up in the first place, a bunch of ungrateful brats. I was so happy Naya got what was coming to her now she had to spend the rest of her life with that creep, or at least three years. The contracts stated that divorce could only happen after three years of marriage and three years was a long time.“I can't wait to see how drained and disgusting she looks,” I said to myself smilin

The car ride back home started silent, I was itching to say something but I didn't know how to start. I kept stealing glances at Leon who had his head rested on the car seat with his eyes closed“What do you want to say?” he asked with his eyes still closed startling me“Um thank you,” I said “For what?” he asked opening his eyes to look at me“For standing up for me” I whispered“What?” he asked“I said for having my back,” I said and he didn't say anything again“Thank you” I whispered again“I am married to you sadly, it wouldn't be a good look for me to let people shit on my wife,” he said plainly, he just had to ruin it. He should have just kept it to himself than open his stupid ass mouth“Don't look at me with those eyes, I was just saying” he said with a little smile at the corner of his mouth. I rolled my eyes at him and the car went back to being silent“Have you thought about what I discussed with you?” I asked“I don't recall having a discussion with you,” he said, he wen

LEONShe was persistent, always pushing and trying to convince me that she could make it happen. She wasn’t like most people I had come across. Most of them were scared of me, afraid to say the wrong thing or even look me in the eye. But not her.She wasn’t scared, not even a little intimidated. She spoke to me however she liked, without hesitation or fear. And when words weren’t enough, she stabbed me with a pen, of all things just to prove her point. She was crazy. Completely crazy.I rubbed the spot where she stabbed me. The pain was gone now, but it lingered in my mind because it wasn’t just pain it was something I hadn’t felt in years. For the first time in what felt like forever, I felt pain in my legs.I had been told over and over that my legs were useless, that they were as good as dead. And I believed it I had to believe it, there was no reason not to. But now… now I wasn’t so sure. That sharp, fleeting pain made me question everything. What if she was right? What if she a

NAYAAfter Leon told me he was going for the election, I didn’t press further, but at that moment, I made up my mind. I was going with him. I didn’t tell him because I knew he would actively try to stop me, but I needed to be there. I needed to look Ryan in the eyes and let him see for himself that his plan to break me had failed.I woke up early, much earlier than usual, while Leon was still sleeping beside me. I turned to look at him, watching the slow rise and fall of his chest. He looked so at peace, so different from the man who carried the weight on his shoulders. I hesitated before slipping out of bed, careful not to wake him.I never thought I would sleep so easily in his room, but I did. I was against moving in at first, but deep down, I was glad I did. It wasn’t just about protection, it was about the way I felt when I was with him. Safe. Like the nightmares couldn’t touch me. I always slept like a baby when I knew he was by my side the feel of his breath alone made me feel

Just as I was about to get into my car my phone rang and when I checked the caller it was Ryan. I hesitated not sure if I should ignore the call and just drive off but I was immediately reminded how badly I needed him so I picked up the call.“Going already?” He asked as I picked up the call“I saw you were busy,” I said holding my anger in“You could have joined in, the more the merrier,” he said with a short laugh. I just bit my tongue to avoid saying anything that would that would infuriate him “I’m in no mood Ryan goodbye,” I said instead“I will send a driver to meet you now go to my house, I will meet you there” he simply said before ending the callIt pained me badly that I couldn’t even react my emotions out and went on to do as he said. I was excited even, at the fact that he invited me to his house. If I didn’t see him fucking another woman just moments ago I would have said it was progress but it was far from that. The driver drove me to his house in a black limited editio

KAYLA I heard from my dad that Ryan was going to be named CEO so I had to quicken my game. My plan to make him mine wasn’t working the way it should. No matter what I did, Ryan didn’t see me the way I wanted him to. He never looked at me with desire, never treated me like I was special. Instead, he made it painfully clear on countless occasions that I was nothing to him. He made it clear that I was disposable, replaceable just another woman. But that wasn’t how this was supposed to go. I was supposed to charm him, make him obsessed with me, and have him so hooked that he wouldn’t even think about another woman. I was supposed to implant myself in his heart, in his mind, in his life so deeply that he wouldn’t know what to do without me. But instead, I was the one losing everything. There was no way I could revive my social status even after deactivating my pages. People found their way to send death threats to me wishing me the worst. I got expelled from college just before I w

RYANI was in my office, leaning back in my chair with my legs crossed over the table, a glass of whiskey in my hand. The room was quiet except for the sound of pages flipping that filled the air. I was in a meeting with James Genrey who was busy going through the contract that I handed to him. The contract with the investors that was finally signed was a major step forward but the work wasn’t over yet. Now, it was up to me to put everything in place, to make sure every detail was handled properly. This deal was too important to leave anything to chance.“This is going to be completed in no time,” James said as he signed his own contract with our company“It has to be, I would not be hearing any excuses,” I told him“We always deliver, trust me to do the same this time also,” he said smiling from ear to ear. It was a big-budget project so he got a good cut from it definitely his biggest contract yet.Everything was going at my pace and according to plan, I had the project going that

I got out of bed and willingly took a shower washing everything off my body.“Naya” I heard Leon call while I was in the shower“Where are you?” He asked“I’m right here” I responded, next minute I opened my eyes he was right there in the bathroom“Oh my God” I jumped in fear, wrapping my hand around my naked bodyHis eyes glided through my body with ease, staring me from up to down then he brought his eyes back to my face“Do you need help?” He asked “Help? I woke up as early as possible to prepare for the day. It was an important day, and even though I had barely gotten any sleep, I didn’t care. Sleep could wait. Today was too significant for me to let exhaustion slow me down. I had spent weeks waiting for this meeting, chasing after these investors like they were gods. They knew exactly how much power they held, and that was why they acted like they could do whatever they pleased. They had the upper hand, and they made sure I knew it.The first time we scheduled a meeting was the night of my accident. I was on my way to meet up with them that night before the accident happened. But the accident changed everything. They must have taken my absence as a sign of disrespect because, after that, they refused to take my calls, ignoring every attempt I made to reach out to them.Until now.Now that they had finally agreed to meet me, I had no choice but to be patient, no matter how much it irritated me. But I wasn’t going to forget how they tr

KAYLAI slowly opened the door carefully so as not to make a sound. The last thing I wanted was to wake my parents or run into them. I was in no mood for questions, especially not tonight. My mind was too messed up to come up with any excuses, and I had no energy to explain where I was coming from. As soon as I stepped inside, I slipped off my shoes, holding them in my hands to avoid making any noise. I took in a deep breath and started tiptoeing toward my room to avoid making any sound. But just as I took my first step, the lights in the living room suddenly flicked on. I froze instantly, my heart raced quickly, and my breath caught in my throat.I was caught.“Oh my God” a yelp escaped from my mouth“Why are you back so late? I have been worried sick. NAYAI woke up, surprised that I had even fallen asleep. The last thing I remembered was feeling too drained to even think, and now, somehow, I had slept through the night. It had to be one of the pills Leon gave me, it must have knocked me out completely.Leon had been the one to take off my bloodied clothes. He had been the one to bathe me. I barely remembered any of it. My body had been so weak, my mind so far away, that I couldn’t tell what was happening around me. Everything had felt like a blur like I was trapped in a fog too thick to escape. But now, as I slowly woke up, I noticed something different. My body felt lighter and more relaxed. The soreness I had expected wasn’t there, at least not as much as I thought it would be. And, surprisingly, I hadn’t had any nightmares. It was as if both my body and mind had shut down completely, forcing me into a sleep so deep I couldn’t even dream.I turned my head, looking to the side. Leon wasn’t there. My eyes moved to the clock and it
