Chapter 3: Give Me One More Chance

Early in the morning, Cecily returned to her room as she heard the sound of Edwin getting ready in the bathroom. Unlike her usual routine of making breakfast for Edwin, she took out her suitcase and started packing her belongings. Sadie's car would arrive shortly, as they had arranged the previous night for Cecily to stay with her for a few days.

Cecily didn't have much to pack, just a few clothes and some everyday essentials. Although she was married to Edwin, he had never gifted her any jewelry or clothes, except for...

Cecily raised her hand and looked at the ring on her ring finger. The diamond on it was dazzlingly large. This ring, in fact, couldn't be considered a gift from Edwin; it was purchased together with her mom's second husband. When they got married, she put it on herself. Since then, she had never taken it off.

After a moment's contemplation, Cecily took off the ring. Since she had put it on herself, she felt it was only right that she removed it herself.

Edwin emerged from the bathroom. "What are you doing?" his voice carried a chilling tone.

Cecily hesitated and, without meeting Edwin's gaze, placed the ring and the divorce agreement on the bed. She had spent the whole night printing it out. "After today, I'm moving out. You decide when to tell them at home that I've left and that I'm coming back with you."

Edwin didn't even glance at her and answered a call on his phone before leaving the room.

Cecily picked up her belongings and went downstairs. Sadie was already waiting for her, leaning against the crimson car. She whistled when she saw Cecily in this state. Seeing Sadie like this, Cecily's bad mood instantly improved, and she smiled, saying, "What are you looking at? Come and help me, quick."

Sadie walked over and was about to take the suitcase from Cecily's hands when she saw Edwin approaching them like the wind.

Within a few breaths, Cecily was pulled into a tight embrace from behind. Sadie was standing so close that she didn't know what to do. It was probably the first time she had seen Edwin like this, and she stood there as if in a daze.

Cecily's suitcase dropped to the ground, and she stood there, unsure of what to do. She could feel that the person behind her was Edwin. She heard him with a slightly breathless voice say, "Cecily, please give me one more chance. You said three chances, and this is the first one."

Cecily's eyes began to well up with tears. She realized that he still remembered. When they got married, she had promised that no matter what mistakes Edwin made, she would give him three chances. If he asked, she would forgive him and not leave him. At that time, Edwin had appeared indifferent, and Cecily thought he hadn't taken her words seriously.

Moon Bay, a picturesque island surrounded by the sea on three sides, adjacent to A City, was the largest tourist resort of the Turner Group and one of the world's busiest tourist islands. It was often referred to as "Paradise on Earth."

Under the night sky, the island was bathed in neon lights. On the third floor of the Moon Bay Hotel was the office of the general manager.

"Have you made up your mind?" The man sitting on the sofa asked the man with closed eyes not far away. Even with his eyes closed, his face exuded an air of nobility and dominance.

The atmosphere in the entire office was tense. Edwin replied, "Yes," which seemed to be in response to the man's question.

"But you should understand, Cecily has been taking that medication for over a year, and her body is not in the condition to conceive a child. Even if she becomes pregnant, there's a risk of harm to both mother and child. If she does give birth, the child might not be healthy," Archie said cautiously, his eyes fixed on Edwin's face, as if trying to read his inner thoughts.

Suddenly, Edwin turned to him, and his deep gaze seemed to penetrate everything, making Archie slightly uncomfortable. In just a few moments, Edwin looked away. "As long as I achieve my goal," he said coldly.

Although this was what Archie had wanted, he felt a chill in his heart. As Edwin's best friend, he didn't know whether this ruthless side of Edwin was ultimately good or bad for him. Sometimes, he wished Edwin was a bit more compassionate.
