Claire

The music thumped through the room, the heavy beats of Cardio B’s wap, reverberating in my chest, loud enough to drown out my own thoughts.

I spun on my toes, hands on my knees as Ilved my waist up down while staring at myself in the mirror. I was elated from the Idea of it all. No clothes, no worries—just me, my music, and the giddy pulse of excitement.

The bass dropped, and I bent lower, hair wild around my face, body moving in a rhythm that everyone knew. I was lost in it, completely untethered, until I turned around and melt eyes crashed with gray orbs

I froze.

He stood there, his eyes partly open, his lips tugged into a smile. He seemed completely unbothered by the fact that he just walked in on me naked. His expression was nothing compared to what I expected.

Oh. My. God. Is that how unappealing I look?

“What the—Can't you fucking knock?”

The hands of the clock began to move again, and suddenly, I was hyper aware of everything—my bare skin, the alarming fact that I was

You know last year you—”“Tell them I say they can deal with it. I don't want to hear anything about the gala, all I want to do about it is attend it.” I said, cutting her short. I already have a lot to deal with, and an annual gala wouldn't be added to it.“Alright, sir.” “Is that all?” “Yes sir.” She nodded with a smile on her face before taking her seat as I turned around to leave.I walked into the cafeteria expecting nothing more than the usual hum of conversation and the comforting aroma of coffee and food. ClaireAs the words fell from my mouth, there was a bit of silence like the walls were taking in the weight of my words. I had never felt that much anger before and it was taking everything in me not to bite off Giancarlo's ears. He stands there and call me Jealous, insensitive after violating me with no iota of remorse. I couldn't take it anymore, we were keeping up with this because the world thought we were married. If I spilled the beans, then I could go back to my apartment and to my normal life. “You wouldn't dare!” He growled, the smirk on his face replaced by anger. “Watch me.” I said with spite as I walked towards the exit, but Enzo was quick to block me. “Hey, hey, hey…. Why don't we all calm down?”“Calm down? Can't you hear what he's saying? He kisses a girl and uses me to avoid public backlash and he's refusing to get down from his high horse!” “And so what if I used you to avoid a public backlash? I laid on my bed after the rather long day I had. I tossed and turned, unable to close my eyes. My anger towards Giancarlo didn't make me go down for dinner and now I was feeling the repercussions of my actions. My stomach growled in protest, but I was determined not to have dinner for that night nor have to be in the same room as him. I turned again and closed my eyes, about to force myself to sleep when I heard a knock on my door. It better not be who I'm thinking. I ignored it and just closed my eyes again, but the knock came again, this time followed by the sound of the door opening. I stayed still, pretending to be asleep.“I know you're not sleeping.” He called out in a gentle tone making me sigh. I turned around and faced him, turning on my bedside lamp. “I don't think you need the lights, the colours are blinding already.” “What do you want?” Ignoring his comment, I asked without holding back the bite in my tone. “Ouch! Seems like you don't want me here.” he said, clutchi

  • Married to my Ex-Fiance's Boss   Chapter 22

ClaireThe car was too quiet, the weight of his stupid announcement pressing the air around us. What? Marriage in three months? How could he do something like that without informing me? And there was no way on this planet I'd marry an arrogant bastard.I stared out the window, watching city lights blur past, my nails digging into my palm to keep from exploding. His voice broke the silence—low, careful, like he thought he could buy me over with the gentility in it."You're awkwardly quiet ?"I didn’t answer. My jaw was locked tight, as I kept looking out the window. The look on Penny's was the same as mine when he made the announcement . Complete shock that quickly morphed into anger which I quickly masked because of the gazes that were locked on me.I kept hearing my mother’s voice, that proud, breathless laugh when he made the announcement. Her hands clutching her chest like she'd won the lottery. At tha

The little gestures, the compliments, the light smiles, everything was as clear as day. GiancarloI stared at the gate agent like she had suddenly grown two heads. None of what she was saying made sense to me and the sight of the security men approaching only added to my anger. It was clear from the look on her face that Claire was tensed. Though she was trying to keep her wits together, I could almost heart the sound of her loud heart beat.“What do you mean by we can't take off?” I asked, throwing a quick glance to the security men that had already gotten to us. One tried to grab my arm, but I moved just in time, glaring at him.“Don't you dare touch me! What the fuck is going on? Are you forgetting who I am?” It wasn't my style to use such lines, but at this point it seemed they were forgetting I was a Caruso.“I'm sorry sir, there's a issue with the clearance of this flight, so you can't take off.” the lady said, still holding that tight-lipped smile on her face.

ClaireToday had to be perfect—no exceptions, no mistakes. I was about to give my boyfriend the surprise of a lifetime.A marriage proposal. The beginning of our forever and a perfect way to mark our anniversary—he'd never see it coming.Every detail was planned out—from the bouquet of roses in my hands, to the reservations at one of the city's most exclusive restaurants—reservations I'd only managed to secure weeks ago through countless calls and relentless follow-ups; something other people would consider harassment, but to me, it was just simple tenacity. As the saying goes, ‘You want something? You go for it,’ and I wanted this anniversary to be flawless.Clutching the roses in excitement, I approached the receptionist at Alex’s department with a bright smile. “Oh, hi, Laura. Won’t be long—I’m just meeting Alex. He’s still in?”“Sure.” She started to smile as she looked up, but it faltered—just for a second. At the sight of me? The hesitation was fleeting, but it was gone almost

Claire's sister was the last person I expected to run into at a place like this. She's just someone you would see tucked away at family functions, not lurking in the shadows of a dive bar.I stared at her, her eyes quietly observant and her demeanor as composed as ever, contrasting starkly with the raucous energy around us. “That sentence should be coming from me.” “Why?” She asked in her ever so calm voice. She was a complete opposite of Claire. “You don't strike me as someone who drinks, and clearly not someone who comes to a bar.” “Too bad I didn't meet your righteous expectations.” “Hmm.” I hummed in response. That wasn't the case at all. At this point, I doubt anybody in this age doesn't take alcohol. She just didn't look like someone to be in a loud and razzy place. “What are you doing here?” She asked as the bartender poured me yet another shot. “The same reason as you are.” “Did you lose a court case because of an evidence you didn't review yourself?” I stared at her
