Chapter 4

....Cannon's POV....

After checking into my room in the hotel, I rushed into the washroom to take a quick shower and then got outside.

Evana was sitting on the couch with our breakfast. Smiling at her, I got near and took a seat in front of her.

She was continuously talking about her photoshoots and all but nothing was really getting through me as all I did was staring at her. She looked all excited.

After our breakfast, she left the hotel room uttering, "You take rest now. When I will be done with my work, I will call you. Bye."

Normally in some other times, I also had some work here but this time, all I just came to talk to her.

So, as she would be busy for few hours from now, I thought of taking a nap and laid down on my bed. While considering what exactly to say or how to say it, I fell asleep at some point.

By the time I woke up, it was almost noon. I checked my phone but found no missed call or something.

Getting freshen up, I called Evana but the phone was switched off.

Thinking she might be busy till now, I was about to shove the phone into my pocket but it rang off.

Must be Evana.

I looked at the phone screen with a smile but got disappointed.

I pressed the accept button and put it on my ear, "Yes, Sam."

"Have you reached safely? I thought you might be tired and getting some rest. So I didn't call earlier."

Sensing his concern, I smiled a little and spoke up, "Yeah, now I am done with my rest. Any problem there?"

"Not a problem actually. But a file needs your attention. Can you check it now?"

As Evana was also busy, I thought of doing some work as well. "Yes. Send it."

"Okay."

The call got cut and after few moments a document arrived in my email.

I took my laptop out and got working for a while. By the time I was done, it was already afternoon. As I skipped the lunch, I felt somewhat hungry then.

I tried for Evana's number once again but got the same response. Then getting ready, I got out of the hotel room and after eating something in a nearby restaurant, I took a cab to the beach.

It was early in the evening when Evana called. Her smiling face flashed on my phone screen pulling a smile on my face also.

I answered the call immediately but couldn't even get to open my mouth as Evana went on, "Hey, where are you? Your room is locked. Did you leave already without even meeting me?"

I kept silent for few moments letting out a sigh and then spoke up, "Evana, take a breath, baby. I am at the beach. Your phone was.."

Cutting me off, she spoke up, "Okay. I am coming there."

After almost half an hour, Evana got into my sight, walking towards me. She seemed to be somewhat upset.

We kept walking by the beach for some time without exchanging any word. The sun was just setting down making the sea somewhat red. A cool breeze was blowing making her hair flying smoothly.

I was waiting for her to open up if something was bothering her.

But she kept all silent. We sat on the sand at some point.

Then giving it a thought, I decided to ask her for myself, "Evana, is something bothering you?"

She gave me a confused look.

I faced her, "Is there anything that's bothering you?"

She shook her head and spoke up, "No. Why did you ask?"

"You seem off."

She shook her head and spoke up, "Nothing like that. Just work pressure." and then again she turned to the sea.

I was about to say something again but she beat me on that.

"Cannon, what about we get married now?"

I wasn't expecting this from her actually. Though I was here to talk to her about settling down only. She said that by herself getting me somewhat taken aback.

I couldn't get to reply her immediately.

She turned to me again, "You don't want to?"

Controlling my emotions, I spoke up, "Are you sure?"

Some hair locks were coming on her face. While tucking them behind her ear, I spoke up, "You know, I actually came here this time to talk to you about this. But I don't want to pressurize you. If you want, you can take time. It's okay."

When she uttered smilingly, "No. I am sure. It's been enough of waiting now.", I couldn't be happier.

Being overwhelmed, I hugged her. She didn't take any time to hug me back.

The very same day we took flight of night to get back home together while planning for our wedding and all. At some point Evana spoke up, "Media won't be allowed in our wedding. We will keep it as our private affair. Till date, the outside world will have no clue that who is the bride actually. Sounds interesting. Doesn't it?"

I frowned at Evana hearing this. "Why? I want to show it all that how lucky I am to get you. I want to share my happiness with all the world outside."

"Don't you always say that I am your world! Then..?" Evana pouted which made me smile.

"It's true Evana and you know that. I am just saying.."

I didn't get to complete as Evana spoke up, "Cannon, as soon as we will declare about our marriage, the media will run after us wherever we go. I don't want to have them behind me always like this as I will have trouble to meet you, do my shopping and all."

I was thinking about what to say and she again spoke up something making me all silent.

The flight landed when it was almost 9 by morning. I dropped Evana at her place promising, I would visit her place in the afternoon to talk to her family.

Then I got back to my place and taking a shower, I thought of taking a nap when I heard a knock on the door.

I answered the door and one of the maids entered into my room.

"Sir, Mr. and Mrs. Henderson are here."

What are they doing here!

Uttering this under my breath, I spoke up, "Okay. You go. I am coming."

After few minutes, I got down and found them sitting in the living room. They were all silent which was odd.

I got near. "Get straight to the point. I am tired and would like to take some rest."

Dad spoke up, "Cannon, we came to take you home."

I kept looking at them in disbelief for few moments.

I couldn't help uttering, "What has gotten into you all of a sudden?"

When Mom and Dad left, I sat in the living room.

Why all of a sudden they are being like this to me!

I wondered.

Giving my thought a break, I got back to my room and got on the bed.

I tried to get some sleep but sleep was far away from my eyes. Just one sentence kept buzzing in my mind, "We came to take you home."

Giving up at some point, I got up and paced in the room.

Finding nothing to do, I got ready and left for office.

In the afternoon, I went to Evana's place. Her parents welcomed me warmly.

As I was alone there, without any family members and meeting them for the first time, I was feeling somewhat nervous but having all warm treatment from them, I got relaxed in a while.

I guessed Evana must have told them about my family as they didn't even ask anything about it.

.....Elaine's POV.....

Because of headache, I got back home earlier today. When I got near the living room, I saw everyone sitting in the living room.

Evana was back already.

When did she come!

I didn't see her in the morning.

Someone was sitting beside her and all of them were talking all smilingly.

I was thinking of going to my room silently without disturbing them but got stopped when I recognised the person's voice.

Being confused, I turned to him to confirm whether he was the person, I was thinking though I knew there was no way for it to be him.

I got shocked.

"Cannon!"

"Why is he here!"

My question automatically got answered as I heard him uttering, "Uncle, Aunt, I really love Evana and I would like to marry her." while Evana kept smiling at Cannon.

I got pinching myself involuntarily to confirm whether I was dreaming. But nothing got changed. Uncle and Aunt gave their consent happily.

Cannon looked so happy at that moment. His love for Evana was visible in his eyes clearly.

Being unable to handle it anymore, I was about to leave but got stopped as I heard Cannon.

"Elaine, you here?"

I turned to him and Evana spoke up, "How do you know Elaine?"

Being so out of it, I couldn't get to utter anything.

Cannon spoke up again, "We have met for few times."

Uncle James spoke up, "Oh, is that so?"

Cannon nodded and then turning to me, Uncle again spoke up, "Elaine, come here, dear."

I was getting confused at his behaviour but bracing myself together, I got near them.

Pointing at me, Uncle spoke up, "Cannon, Elaine is my other daughter."

I looked at him being shocked.

Why is he behaving like this again?

I got out of my trance when his phone rang off and he got uttering again, "You guys continue. I have to take this call."

Uncle left from there. I was thinking of leaving as well but Aunt spoke up, "I told you to come early today, Elaine. But still you got late."

Being confused about whom she was referring, I turned to her only to find her staring at me. Getting her look, I sat on a sofa.

Did she really ask me to get back early! When?

Aunt again spoke up, "You sit. I am coming back in a while."

I couldn't get to look at anywhere except the floor.

I could feel Evana and Cannon were still talking but nothing was getting through me. My mind wasn't working well.

Why is this happening with me!

Why it has to be Cannon out of all the person!

I got out of my trance when I heard Cannon.

"I don't know why but Evana never told me about you."

I turned to him. Evana wasn't beside him anymore. I looked around only to find her walking towards the kitchen. I saw aunt was in the kitchen as well.

I heard Cannon uttering again, "What a coincidence! Anyways it was nice meeting you."

I managed to smile a little at him. Cannon extended his hand towards me, "So friends?"

I was being hesitant to extend my hand for a handshake but at last I did.

I held his hand.

He looked all happy but for me it was taking everything in me to fight back the emotions that was bubbling in me.

What should I do?

Should I smile because we are friends now or cry as that's all we are going to remain forever?
