Ethan's POV
My joy knew no bounds the very moment I saw for myself the number of babies we should expect in a few months.
Amelia was shocked, too, although she tried her very best to contend her laughter and excitement.
We left the hospital, smiling and holding hands: something that never really happened. I hopped in on the driver's side, allowing Amelia to pick a seat in the car, to stay in.
She went to the back a little laid on the long chair, her eyes closed, and that was how she slept all through the journey.
I stopped at the mini market, hopped down to lock the doors after parking.
I walked into the stinky area to buy plenty of vegetables.
Tye talked about it again, sounding a warning to myself and Amelia, asking we don't miss a vegetable treat in a day.
“How can I eat vegeta
Ethan's POVThe weekend finally arrived.“We leave today,” I told Amelia the moment I opened my eyes.“I might return home late.”“Where are you leaving for?” She asked, moping at me.I guessed right, she was on her way to the bathroom to take her bath when I called her back with my words.I thought as much, from the towel hanging on her shoulder, and the toothbrush she held.“I told you, the men and I are going to wait for Luke at the airport.”“Ohh,” she cried. “I forgot.”“It's fine,” I muttered, smiling as I sat up on the bed. “Would you want something from me before I leave?”She moped at me, looking around the room. Perhaps, she was
Luke's POVOver and over again, I see two kinds of cars at the airport whenever I am on a mission to give the girls out. That morning, I planned to leave for work as usual when Boss asked me to come at a later hour. “I have a meeting with my partners,” his text read. “Come on by 11.”I knew immediately if I left for work and reached the warehouse house at 11, I'll be at the airport with the girls around 12. I have become used to the deadly job, especially the part of me taking young girls to the airport.Boss has made me stronger. His words that always got me scared, sharpened me, and I am finally fit, a bit, not so much to do a few things.I took my bath in a hurry and made it to the dining area. Scarlett made something for me to eat already, she seems calmer these days. Perhaps, because I am yet to demand the usual from her. I am not ready is the right word to use. The other women in my life want me more than I want Scarlett at this point, and my work schedule is a tight one
Luke's POVDays passed and the beginning of a new week became the weekend. I made Scarlett give me what I wanted, in the morning when I woke up and at night, before going to sleep.“Cook for me.” I did not forget to add the very moment I finished with her in the morning. And at night, she sobbed in the toilet while cleaning herself.Don't blame me, I wanted to tell her.Did she not know what she was getting into when she had sex with me behind Amelia's back? Who would think I will remain loyal to her after marriage, for the rest of my life?On Friday, I left the house for an eatery in the city.Eating out was what I yearned for, with one of the women, perhaps. It was always Jessica, Isabella and I do not get to see and talk as usual anymore. I miss touching her buttocks, but now, ther
Amelia's POVThe weather, as usual, tortured me and the babies. There never passed a day when I did not take a warm bath, due to the weather and Ethan's disturbance and care for the babies.Maybe myself too.It was the day when Scarlett and I planned to see each other. I woke up to recall our planned meeting that morning.Ethan got up a while later, asking if I still remembered the arrival of my sister at the house.“Yes.” I told him.Was he or did he think I'll forget it just like that? Of all things to forget, not my meeting with Scarlett.Ethan, as sweet as he is and has become, asked if he should order some food from a restaurant in town, if I wasn't too fit to proceed with the cooking.“No,” I told him. “I'll cook before she arrives.”&nbs
Scarlett's POVI was beyond shocked when Amelia said the news to me. All I did to conceal my shock and disappointment in Luke was act like I didn't care. Why would he embarrass me in such a way? I was getting used to getting raped every night and in the morning before getting up from the bed, and now it's this.A part of me did not believe it when Amelia and Ethan talked about Luke, being a human trafficker. I wanted to shout at them, then ask them to close their mouths and stop giving out fake news to me.Now, why should I not believe them? Everything is glaring at me in the face. Why does Luke have a box I don't have the passcode to, as his wife? Ethan will never try something as such with Amelia, will he? I asked myself several times. To avoid suspicions from my husband, and even my parents: I took a cab to their house, to see them.Mother was excited to see me when she saw me standing at the door of her home. “Scarlett.” She called, smiling. The door was opened to my size and
Ethan's POVMy relationship with Amelia has bloomed into something more sweeter. Sweeter than I ever expected. The men and I planned a meeting at the office days ago and I, on the other hand, planned to take them to a restaurant too, to have lunch.I woke up with my back aching that morning. My head ached as well when I sat up on the bed. I made my way to the bathroom for a quick and hot bath before proceeding to the room again.Amelia was up by this time. I greeted, with a smile crowning my face, and my hands, holding the towel round my waist, tightly."Did you sleep well?" I shyly asked. I don't know the reason behind me getting shy, suddenly: I nodded, looked away and made for the wardrobe to dress up quickly.Amelia's face and smile is a distraction to my early presence at the office. She left the room to prepare something for me to eat. I know.I dressed in a hurry and made for the diner area. Food was ready, a part of me thought of this beautiful treat coming to an end very so
Luke's POVThe last time I got laid with Scarlett was a week ago. The day I planned to, I returned home drunk to meet her staring at me. She said something I did not hear clearly. The next thing happened, I was thrown onto the bed. And a woman lay next to my side. I saw these things, but was too drunk and tried to see what was happening. It was past midnight when I tossed on the bed to see her by my side. She slept on the far end of the bed, avoiding me, perhaps. I was clearly not desiring sex, or rape, as she may have been tagging it.I jumped off the bed and made it to the bathroom safely, without staggering or falling to the floor, unlike hours ago. I did my thing in a hurry and returned to the room, Scarlett changed her posture, from a free one to a tight one.She looked like she was doing all of these to avoid me, getting down with her on the bed. I wasn't in the mood,
Scarlet's POVLuke has not changed, not yet, as I thought. The day after, he came home drunk, I was raped the next morning.“I don't want it.” I told him severally, wishing and hoping he would get off me and leave me alone. But, no. Luke did not stop thrusting. He went deeper before spilling his liquid in me, then jumped off me, and the bed.I hate him! There were words I did not stop saying to myself when he went into the bathroom. I must have been very obvious, I no longer hid my hate for him.I still stayed on the bed when he got back into the room. The look on his face was like that of someone asking why I am still on the bed, but I didn't care. My legs and thighs were hurting, did he expect me to walk out of the room when I am yet to feel better? He left the room for the kitchen, I guess.
Ethan's POV I slept soundly that hour, almost dreaming when a hand hit me. At first, I thought it was in my dream, or a mis-thought. The hand butted me again, and I jumped up on the bed. “What is it?” I asked Amelia, she held onto the edge of the bed, gasping for air. “What is it?!” I asked again, holding her hand. “I think the babies are coming.” I thought I didn't hear the words clearly until she repeated them again, Pamela's name filled my mouth the next moment. I was more confused and hurt when Amelia burst out crying, it was in the early hours of the morning and definitely not the right time for this. Whatever it is that she felt must have hurt, deeply. “Pamela!” I screamed the young lady's name again, higher than the former pitch and tone. I heard the door of her room creak, and footsteps were heard. She was on her way. “What is it?” The confused woman asked, rushing to Amelia's side. “I think the babies are coming, uncle.” Of course, I know. The only thing I d
Amelia's POVThings got better.I moved on from the pain that came with Scarlett's death. The rest of the men who worked with Luke were apprehended days after we returned from the burial.“He promised to go the day after we visited.” Ethan said, taking it personally.“At least, they've gone.” I said, giving him a reason to be calm.Their trial came up in a few weeks. Mother and Father call to speak with me over the phone once in a while, there was a feeling that comes with speaking to them.I finally see myself having more than just a contract with Ethan. He is a sweet man, and very supportive – he stayed by my side all through the period of my mourning.“I love you.” I remember the words he said to me that day in the room – on the bed.I
Amelia's POVIt was barely a month and Scarlett's funeral was organized.Ethan stayed by my side all through, he took a leave from work just to be with me. Pamela on the other side can be sweet, and even sweeter. It dawned on me even more and more that my sister is dead.“We'll visit the police station today,” Ethan announced one morning. “Get ready.”“Why?”“What do you mean?” He asked, turning to face me. “You've not had a conversation with your sister's killer since the day it happened. Don't you want to see him?”“I don't know.”I thought about it. I wanted to see Luke, I ended up deciding, I took my bath later that evening and was ready to see him.Luke Oren.“Can I come with you?” Pamela beg
Tessa's POVI did not scream enough when the nurse told us the latest development.“We are sorry, but we lost her.”Amelia screamed at the top of her voice, loudly. It felt like a competition between the both of us.Carl was speechless, he did not hold me when I started moving, and screaming. I saw Amelia's husband hold her, speaking into her ears.We were allowed to walk to the ward, where we saw my daughter's lifeless body.Scarlett was really unmoving, she has never been this way since she was born.“Wake up!” Amelia screamed, Ethan still held her, so did the young girl who came with them to the hospital. We were making so much noise in the hospital premises. A doctor walked in, looked at the scene, then at Amelia, who was on the floor already.&
Luke's POVI did not hit Scarlett that hard, how did she faint? She is pregnant, I forgot to remind myself when the thoughts of hitting her came racing in my head. How did she discover the passcode to my box? It is something I will never tell her, and a code that will take days to digest. When I had first used the code, I wrote the numbers on a paper for future reference, just in case I forgot during the period. Now, what? She had done more than herself by discovering the code and even searching the box and invading my privacy. What hurt more is the fact that I did not finish hiding everything before the arrival of the police. How far can I hide the box? They will always get hold of it after a thorough research in the house. The moment I hit her, she fell to the floor, and I noticed blood flowing f
Amelia's POVMy return back to New York was a peaceful one. The customers and neighbours back in Spain felt a bit bad when I announced my leave to them."Visit us again."The woman who visited the house during our first visit hugged myself and Pamela severally, asking the poor girl to take care of me.We landed in New York late afternoon, I beeped Ethan to come pick us up and take us to the house. I was still mad at him for the statement he made over the phone months ago.Still, I acted like nothing was wrong.Pamela did it again, she went ahead to tell him everything that happened. I was not asleep when he walked into the room that afternoon, almost asleep but not sleeping, the conversation was shifted to hours later. We lived peacefully once again.Pamela resumed her work in the house, as usual. Ve
Scarlett's POVLuke has refused to go to work since the last time he walked in while I cleaned the house. Maybe he did not refuse, I don't know. However, he stayed back at home with me almost every day._and went to Jessica's house most times.I no longer heard Isabella's name from his mouth, all he ever did was scream Jessica's over the phone. And come back to the house with her smell.I still recognized her smell, since the last time I caught them both on the bed, her smell refused to leave my nostrils and I reacted each time I noticed it.Not to Luke, but to myself. That night, he came home drunk, calling the woman's name at the top of his voice.“Get me water.” He commanded, his voice was improper. He talked like he would hit me if I refus
Ethan's POVCoping with staying alone again wasn't so easy that very moment I dropped her off at the airport.I literally cried on my way back home.It wasn't as smooth as I imagined it would go.The men and I fixed a date to see each other at the office, but my illness did not let me go on the supposed day.I woke up weak, and tired. The wall clock stared right in my face, asking me to get ready for work already. But I was too tired, my head was banging, and my body refused to move.I fell back to the bed, wishing for Amelia to return once again and take care of me like I want to be taken care of.We talked severally over the phone, it was almost her time to deliver the babies and according to the plan, she would be in New York very soon.In a few months.&nb
Amelia's POVDays after Scarlett reached out to me, I packed my box in advance for my trip back to Spain.A part of me wanted to stay back with Ethan, feel loved and hang out with him like I always want to. I wanted to be treated nicely before leaving New York, but how was I going to tell him what I wanted?I packed my things, quietly. It was just me at home, I put a call to Pamela the day before to announce my trip to her.“How soon?” She yelled over the phone in excitement.I expected the reaction, she has missed me so much, more than I miss her. I know from the way she called almost every day to ask after my health.“In a few days.” I announced, I wasn't sure of the day — yet. What I did was give her a heads-up on what would happen very soon. Now that I pa
