Confrontations

Charlene POV

The smell of bleach was overwhelming as I fluttered my eyes open. The beeping of the machine beside me was overshadowed by the loud noise made by someone in the room with me. I struggled to open my eyes but then felt the light shining into my eyes. no one needed to tell me that I was in the hospital because I had come there a thousand times.

‘’you can stop talking loudly grandmother, she has woken up,’’ Zenobia’s loud voice was the first word that I heard clearly. She moved closer to me and waved her hand in my face. ‘’Are you alright Charlene?’’ she asked me.

I blinked and nodded in response. I tried to get up from the bed but then my vision felt hazy and everything in the room became two then I felt a hand around my waist and I looked at Zenobia who smiled back at me. Her smile was everything that I needed at the moment, she was smiling brightly as she stared at me but it was all cut short by Caroline’s throat clearing.
