She looked over in fake surprise and pretended to be shocked. “Mr. Whitman? Why are you here?”

Jeremy did not say anything. Instead, he got out of the car and opened the passenger seat for Madeline. “Get in.”

“...” Madeline hesitated for a few seconds and did not know what to do. She looked at the French window where she was at just now with the corner of her eyes before getting into the car.

The more familiar she used to be with this passenger seat, the more touched she felt now.

She looked cautiously at the rear-view mirror. When she made sure no one was following her, she let out a sigh of relief in secret.
