Maisie kept her eyes lowered in silence.

Daniel glanced at her. Her demeanor reminded him of when she used to be gentle and obedient, staying quietly by his side during work-related stress and enduring late nights just to accompany him.

A pang struck his heart, and he gently held her hand.

"I understand," Maisie murmured softly. "I'll be more careful from now on. I won't associate with strangers..."

Daniel sighed. "Maisie, I'm sorry. I was a little anxious earlier and lashed out in temper."

Maisie remained silent, shaking her head.

"I don't mean to stop you from making friends..." Daniel paused, feeling a bit guilty for expressing that. The jealousy he felt when he saw her with Harvey lingered in his mind.

Nevertheless, he forced himself to appear considerate, speaking softly. "I'm worried about you. You're too naive, unaware of the dangers people might pose..."
