Chapter 6

Alejandro smirked, suddenly letting go of her hand and reaching for her waist, pulling her close to him. His sudden move made her eyes widen.

"What the hell, Alejandro!" Camila tried to pull away, but he tightened his grip, leading her toward the company entrance. The security guards at the door immediately opened it for Alejandro.

"Let me go," Camila whispered through gritted teeth. He held her waist tightly, and everyone was watching.

"Congratulations, Mr. Ruiz."

"Happy married life, Mr. Ruiz."

"Congratulations on getting married, Mr. Ruiz."

Every employee that passed greeted him, but he didn't respond. He pulled Camila into the elevator before finally letting her go. Inside, she used the small mirror to check her face, fixing her hair and clothes.

"I told you I don't like being controlled. If you want my respect, you have to respect me too!" she scolded him.

Alejandro rolled his eyes. "You don't deserve my respect. I married you to do you a favor. You practically owe me. I bought you with half of my properties, and you'll always have to follow my rules," he said without a hint of remorse.

Camila looked at him, wondering how he had become so cold. "Is this because of what happened eight years ago?" she asked, noticing he stiffened at the question. "I can't believe this, Alejandro. We were kids then, and you're a grown man now. How can you still resent me for—"

"What happened eight years ago?" He faced her, looking genuinely confused, as if he couldn't remember their time in high school.

"Don't act like a fool, Alejandro. You know what I'm talking about," Camila frowned.

"I don't understand. What happened eight years ago?" He squinted in confusion.

Camila wanted to argue, but the elevator dinged. 'You have arrived at floor 45,' the processed monitor informed them. Alejandro stepped out without waiting, forcing her to follow quickly.

"Why are you avoiding this? I—" Camila stopped as Alejandro halted.

"Do you know where we are?" he asked.

"Ruiz Royal Estate," Camila replied.

"Good. And I'm sure you've heard I take my business seriously. I didn't bring you here to bug me with questions," he stated firmly.

Camila stayed silent.

"Good morning, Mr. Alejandro," Diego approached. He noticed Camila and smiled warmly. "Congratulations on getting married, sir."

"Give me all the appointments I have today," Alejandro walked past Diego, ignoring the greeting.

"Sure thing, sir," Diego hurried after him, opening the office door for Alejandro and Camila, then stepping in behind them and closing the door.

"Mr. Hugo is coming by 2 PM for a special tour of the Greek Revival house for sale..." Diego began, but Alejandro cut him off when he saw Camila making herself comfortable on the couch.

"What are you doing?" Alejandro asked.

"What do you mean?" Camila replied, confused.

"Why are you sitting?" he asked again.

"Am I not allowed to sit?" Camila's brows furry in confusion.

"I didn't bring you here to warm my couch!" Alejandro threw a sketchbook and pen toward her. She missed catching them, and they fell beside her.

"Your father is a building plan designer. Why don't you work on something?" he said.

Camila gritted her teeth but picked up the book and pencil. "Seriously?" She glared at him, but he ignored her and dialed a number on the telephone.

"Sandra, report to my office," he instructed and hung up. A few minutes later, a knock sounded, and a woman entered.

"Mr. Ruiz, you called for me," she said seductively, dressed in a fitted shirt and pencil skirt that highlighted her hips.

"Camila this is Sandra, the company lead architect. Sandra, escort my wife to the sketch room and show her some of our building plans," he ordered.

Sandra glanced at Camila, stiffened slightly, then smiled. "Sure, Miss. Please come with me," she said, but Camila could tell the smile was fake.

"It's Mrs. Ruiz," Camila corrected, showing her wedding ring.

"Apologies, Mrs. Ruiz," Sandra forced another smile and led Camila out of the office.

Alejandro couldn't help but smirk as he watched his wife assert her dominance. He would be lying if he said it didn't turn him on.
