65 What's For Dinner?

Mother and I finished making lunch and we served everyone's portion. I carried the plate in twos out of the kitchen before calling Chris and Father from the sitting room.

We were all seated at the dining table with me beside Chris and Mom and Dad, just opposite us. I served Chris some syrup on his pancakes before looking up at his face.

Wait, why does he look so bothered?

Did Father say something wrong to him?

I took my right and placed it on his lap. His head slowly turned toward me and I wasted no time in mouthing to him.

"Are you okay?" I asked faintly and his reply shook me a bit.

"I am fine," he replied in his normal very clear and loud voice, causing Mother and Father to look up at us.

At least, it's just my parents.

I smiled at them and we all continued eating anyways. I kept taking side glances at Chris and the solemn look on his face is still there. Even though it looked almost unnoticeable, I can still see that he is not feeling too good.
