Ace's POV

“Daughter of the popular business tycoon, Brittany Anderson, leaves groom hanging at the altar.” My secretary read out a headline from the tablet and glanced at me.

“What does that say?”

“Here it goes.”

“She seemed so brave to have broken ties with the handsome CEO, Ace Miller. This is to show that the beautiful lady, Brittany Anderson, can do anything at all. She has proven.......”

“Just get down to the comments.” I chipped in before she could finish.

I was beginning to get bored and not ready to hear any damn story.

“Alright. A comment says, 'She didn't prove any bravery, instead showed us how stupid she was.' This was from a guy and he got numerous people who agreed with him.”

“Another one says, 'Why do the bad women always get hold of the good men? This could have been me, then I wouldn't be so ungrateful like her.' This is from a lady.” She continued to say with a smile on her face.

She grinned from ear to ear as she scrolled on the tablet, chuckling out at some points.

“Is that all?” I inquired when she didn't say anything else.

“I was just checking these comments out and trust me, ninety percent are on your side. Many are criticizing her, while some even wish they were your bride instead.”

I scoffed and rested back on my chair.

I didn't know if I should be happy at the comments right now or bust out in anger instead because none of the comments were helping.

For a fact, I had every right to be angry at her for what she did to my family and me. She almost ruined my reputation with just that one move she took at the altar.

Even if we were never in good terms with each other, she shouldn't have still gotten the guts to do that.

Just because of what she did, my father has been so angry towards everyone in the house, especially me. He believed I was the reason she made that decision.

According to him, if I had been so good to her from the start, then she wouldn't have had a reason to break up with me at the altar. He blamed me for it all and wanted me to do something about it immediately.

But unfortunately for him, I was doing nothing and that's because Ace Miller will never beg a lady, instead they come to me and pleaded to be under me. Her case was not any different.

I would make sure she comes to beg me, then I end things myself. That was the only way to pacify the burning rage inside me.

“Oh my gosh!” My secretary suddenly exclaimed and I glanced at her.

“What is it?” I asked icily.

“You wouldn't believe me if I told you. Brittany was interviewed this morning in her car, and what she said earned lots of support from people.” She grimaced and pursed her lips.

What the.....

“You've got to see this.” She added quickly and placed the tablet in front of me.

I let out a scoff, listening to her speech and watching how she smiled at the camera at intervals.

Doesn't she feel guilty for tainting her family's reputation?

I scrolled past the video to the comment section and the reactions were something else. Even when the video was brief, the engagements were surprising.

I can't believe this.

Just when I thought people were solidly behind me? Then I got this.

“Come on, you shouldn't think about it just yet. You still have people behind you.” My secretary intruded my thoughts.

Was it so obvious that I was thinking?

“For example, I am here.” She suddenly added.

I glanced up at her, and she was smiling at me.

“I am always here to help you with all the problems, including the ones you feel inside.” She was winking and biting her lower lip.

My head lowered with a sigh. She should just stop. We're in the office for crying out loud.

A hand rubbed the back of my head, at the same time, drawing invisible circles on my neck. She was now standing by my side.

I closed my eyes and lowered my head once again.

“I will always be.” She took her hand to my suit jacket as she began to unbutton my suit jacket.

No, Ace, you can't do this, not here. What if dad barged in on you?

Adding to his blazing rage towards me, then I'd be totally done for.

I pushed her off from me immediately and fixed back my buttons.

“Not here, Melissa.” I grumbled out.

“Then where should it be?” She swiveled my chair to face her.

“Not now either.” My face was looking stern as I spoke.

“What do you mean not now? Look, I want you right now and here.” She attempted to unbutton my jacket, but I was quick to stop her, pushing her hands off me once again.

I wasn't going to let this daughter of eve get to me.

“What now?”

“I don't do fucks with my office staff, I believe you should know that by now.”

That was totally not true though, when I find you alluring, then we're good to go.

“But, you could make me an exception, just like the other night.” The last part came in a whisper, and it almost made me forget my promise to dad.

“That night was just a mistake because I was drunk.”

“A night that you and I enjoyed.” She corrected immediately.

Melissa and I used to be fuck buddies occasionally until when father realized it, and I was almost forced to step down as the CEO.

Ever since, I always tried to avoid the workers sexually until Melissa seduced me at a club one night, but I absolutely didn't regret it that night.

I don't reject sex, especially when it was offered on a platter of gold, but right now, I had a promise to keep.

Next time, I wouldn't spare her.

“We could try that again. You just let me have my way, then I'll ride you to heaven.”

“Stop it, Melissa. You should leave.”

Some noises outside diverted my attention away from her.

“Check what the noise is about.” I glanced at the window and rested back on my seat.

She rolled her eyes before walking to the window.

“The reporters are downstairs.” She announced and I glanced at her.

“Are they inside already?”

“No, they are outside the gate because I asked the security not to let them in.”

“Alright, still make sure they don't come in no matter what.”

I had nothing to say to them and until I figure out a perfect story that wouldn't make me look like a fool, I would try not to see them.

The telephone rang from my desk and I heaved a sigh.

“What is it?” I said immediately I picked it up.

“Sir, there is someone looking for you.” My receptionist replied.

“Who?”

“It's a lady you know, sir.”

A she?

Who the fuck was here to see me?

“What did she say her name was?”

“Sir, she has forbidden me to say, but she is a business partner of the company.”

A business partner?

“Do we have a business meeting today?” I asked Melissa and she raised a brow.

“No, except for the one we have with the board of directors, and that is to take place in two hours time.” She replied, walking to my desk as she picked up her tablet.

“Yes, that's all.” She added after probably confirming it on her tablet.

“Let her in.” I said over to the telephone and dumped it back to its place.

“What meeting are you having?” Melissa asked.

“I don't know.”

I was still uncertain on whom it was, even if my mind was trying to go to someone right now, but why would she try to see me when obviously she didn't want to see my face?

Shortly after, we heard a knock and the door open. I peeked up, only for my eyes to widen at the person in front of me.

What was she doing here?

“May I come in?” She was still standing at the door, and when she saw that I didn't say anything, she walked in and made herself comfortable on a seat.

“I will take my leave now, sir.” Melissa walked out of the office.

I was so speechless to find her in my company. Was she here to finish what she started?

A quiet sigh left my lips and I rested back on my seat, trying to look unaffected by her unexpected visit.

“Mr Miller, I know you must be wondering why I am here..........” She paused and tapped continually on my desk.

Mr. Miller? Was she kidding?

“Well, it's simple….” She trailed off and halted the tapping on my desk.

“I want to apologize for the way I left you hanging at the altar. Trust me, it was never intentional.”

“Why are you saying this?” I asked, even before she could say anything else.

This was so unlike her, so what could be the reason?

“Why? Can't I apologize?” She asked back and I scoffed.

“Well, the Brittany I've known would never apologize.” I blurted out.

There was no point in sugar coating things.

“Then you're wrong because I do apologize when I'm wrong.” She muttered something else which I wished I heard but didn't.

“Well, it seems like a different thing here.” I shrugged out and she rolled her eyes.

“Anyway, back to why I'm here.....” She let out a feigned smile.

“I have a proposal for you, and it is something that would interest you quite much.” She brought out some files from her bag and tossed it on my desk.

“And how do you know what might interest me?” I scoffed out, glancing at the files on my desk.

“Well, as a business lady, I am so much aware of the offers that are competent in the business world and I believe you're smart enough to know that also.”

I peeked at her then at the files before opening it. Immediately, I checked the file, my eyes almost popped in shock.

It was a fvcking contract!

I raised my gaze instantly and she had one of the most unbelievable look on earth.

“Let's get married again.” She stated, increasing my shock.

Brittany's POVMy face had one of the straight look ever, and I was certain he wouldn't know what I was thinking. His attitude when I got to his office almost began to piss me off but thankfully I held out well.I had to even reply to him, “Then you're wrong because I do apologize when I'm wrong, especially to those who are worth it.” Thankfully, he seemed not to hear the last phrases because I was certain he would have reacted if he had. Although, I didn't give a f**k but now was not the moment to piss him off.I was here, literally in disguise as his business partner, something I didn't really want, but what could I do when Mom had given thousands of reasons why I should make this marriage possible?Suddenly, he busted into a small laughter and I raised my brow at him, wondering what was funny at the moment. Did he think I was joking? The tone behind his laughter didn't sit well with me, as it had hints of mockery behind it. Then he stopped laughing.“Tell me, Miss Anderson, did yo

Now that we have the ball in our court, there's nothing to worry about anymore. But, I hope you've told him when the wedding would take place. You know, it's a day after tomorrow, right?” She uttered, raising her brows at the end of her statement.Damn it! I almost thought I was forgetting something when I left his office.“You mean you didn't?” Mom scoffed out and I just shrugged.I froze for a second before glancing at her slowly and I guessed she understood my message instantly because her look said it all.“It's in the contract, he doesn't need to hear it from me.” Those words came out seconds later to conceal my little incompetence.Besides, I could send a message across to him when my secretary goes to pick up the contrac

Ace's POVI freed myself off my tie and two buttons from my shirt as soon as we got into the Lamborghini while waiting for the chauffeur to ignite the engine. It was until then that I could finally breathe in fresh air of which the media was fully the major cause of my initial suffocation.Despite being aware earlier on of everything we played in front of the media, I still couldn't help but to feel pressured by that act.It was just supposed to be a facade for the public, but it definitely took a great toll on me. I glanced at the lady beside me to see if she felt the same way but as usual, her expression wasn't easy to fathom, which makes me wonder what she could be thinking at the moment.I admitted she looked too gorgeous in that wedding dress, even when I only had a little chance to adore her. If it were to be in the past, I would have hushed praises into her ears and probably, she would smile back whilst doing the same. But things were different between us now.I clenched my

Brittany's POVI jumped out of the car as soon as we got home and headed straight into the house, struggling along with my wedding dress.Thankfully, a few maids came to help me out at the doorstep. The house servants were lined up horizontally in the sitting room, obviously waiting for my presence. Their heads fell into a deep bow once they saw me whilst I halted my steps, only when I got in fully and a few meters from them. The two maids behind joined the rest. They remained like that for a while until the oldest one among them—a woman spoke up.“Congratulations madam on your married life. We've been expecting you for a while, and we hope our services would always make you happy. You're welcome home, My Lady.” A bright smile remained on her lips even when she finished. She looked beautiful for an old lady, probably ranging from fifties to sixties. Her hair which was partly gray was rolled up in a ponytail, and it matched perfectly with her looks; pretty. With her outfit and demeano

Brittany's POV “You came to the office today? I mean, you should be at home enjoying your married life, at least rest at home for a week before coming back to the company.” She uttered with a wide smile, as if she truly cared when, of course, she didn't.That smile wasn't to impress me but to mock me instead. She knew how much damage this marriage had caused to my mental health, and I was certain she would try to use it to her advantage.“I don't see how that concerns you. Whether I decide to come to the office a day after my wedding, it's none of your business.” I replied with a similar energy.Since she was born to annoy me, I had learned to treat her the way she treated me. I wasn't going to be her victim. Moreover, I was the eldest daughter and the only legitimate child of the Anderson's.“Chillax, big sis. Ace's POVTo say I wasn't furious about how I met Brittany and that forsaken friend of hers would be a lie. I didn't even realize when the anger crept inside of me.But strangely, I became glad when she untangled their hands. It still didn't stop me from glaring at him with so much hostility.Even if Brittany and I were no longer together, Jake still had made me feel deep hatred towards him and as a result, I distrusted him so much. ~~ Brittany's POV ~~“Someone is here to see you, My Lady.” A servile voice brought me back to reality. A maid's head was bowing downward with hands clasped together in front.“She says she is an old friend of the Young Ms.” She added, causing my brows to furrow. An old friend? Was it mine or Lora's?I shot Mom a quick glance and her expression was not any different from mine—surprised. “What did she say her name was?”“Ms. Shantel James.” That name rang a bell in my head as it sounded really familiar. Shantel, Shantel, Shantel? I chanted that name in my head, a jolt of excitement slowly rising through my veins. Was it the same Shantel I knew? “Let her in.” Mom ordered, and the maid left, returning a few minutes later with someone else trailing behind her. They got closer and the maid deep bowed one last time before walking away, giving me a clear opportunity to see the lady behind. At that moment, my eyes lit up in excitement as I sprang up to my feet. At the same time, she spread

~~ Brittany's POV ~~Their gaze averted to me at once and I stepped out of the dining area. I wanted the ongoing drama to last a little longer after overhearing their loud voices from the kitchen. But it ended earlier than I expected. It was quite satisfying to see someone else stand against Elvira and her arrogance.I was forced to butt in when Elvira almost overstepped her boundary as I approached them with a straight face, looking like I wasn't the one smiling earlier when Charlotte gave Elvira what she deserved."And what makes you think I'm unwelcomed here? The last time I checked, this isn't your house." Elvira replied me with a masked expression. It was obvious she was trying to suppress her anger, replacing it with a small smile as she dropped her hand and folded her arms against her chest."You should get your facts right. I might not be a direct owner but you wouldn't want me to state how much rights I have around here, higher than you can ever imagine. Why? Because I'm the

  • Married To The Casanova CEO   Chapter 61 - Unwelcomed guest.

The cold, refreshing wind suddenly turned into hot and sultry as Jake stood rooted to the ground. He was still in a dilemma after Brittany bluntly rejected him and since she left him there on the rooftop, he didn't bulge from where he stood. This was the main reason he'd feared to tell her about his feelings until he accomplished his goal of making her fall for him but that didn't go his way. Finally, he was able to move his feet closer to the low fence as he dipped his two hands into his pockets while staring into nothingness in the sky. He was reflecting on the past, his mind so engrossed on the first day he met Brittany in college and how it'd been between them, that he didn't notice Lora show up behind him.She was trying to catch her breath upon rushing up there after the little clash with her half-sister back in the office. It was almost as if she thought he would have been long gone from the rooftop but it was the exact opposite when she got there."Looks like someone just got

~~ Ace's POV ~~Reviewing proposals in my computer, my mind frequently drifted away as I fervently glanced at my cell phone, but nothing came. Despite knowing the consequences of what I was doing, I was still utterly curious at her reaction. If not, reactions.I was obviously making a bigger fool out of myself but with the outcome of events, it was my fault to begin with. So, the only thing that crossed my mind all day was to make amendments for my mistakes. When the call I had been expecting throughout that day finally came, I gripped my cell phone with so much anticipation. “Sir. Ace, it's all done.” Mrs. Lucia expressed, as if suspecting my inquisitiveness and I just nodded.Relief washed over me as I exhaled sharply. The first step was done and only awaited confirmation which I could no longer pretend to wait. I wrapped up work as I glanced up at my personal assistant to see her staring intently at me, only to lower her eyes when mine got caught with hers. She was probably wonde

~~ Brittany's POV ~~“Brittany….” He called out, taking two steps closer as he continued, “I've always loved you. Right from the first day I met you in college, I was attracted by your beauty and as the days went by, you drew me closer with your charming personality. But I knew you didn't feel the same way, which was why I never bothered you and actually wanted to make you fall for me before confessing my feelings. Not until you left.” He paused for a brief moment, his knuckles clenching into tight fists, as if remembering the awful events in the past.“When you came back to the States, I was more than happy to see you again, but your goals of getting the company stood in the way. But, I wasn't willing to give up until you'd fall deep in love with me. Even deeper than what you feel for that heartbreaker of a husband.” He tried to close the space between us with slow, striding steps, but I involuntarily lifted my hands to stop him from getting any closer.I was completely in a daze as

I loved hearing her voice every day but unfortunately, circumstances kept us apart from one another. Hence, it was somehow difficult to hear from her as I pleased.“That was all. We were so happy living together that it felt so real until I woke up this morning.” Her once bright voice fell afterward. She was sad, no doubts, but I wasn't planning to make her sad for long. “In a few weeks time, you'll be five. The first few hours didn't bother me that much because I was certain mom's lawyer was quite prepared. Thanks to the other maid who demanded to see me at the hospital, we were able to get recordings contradicting to what the supposed maid, Sophia had told the police. In one of the video recordings, she seemed to be working with someone against my mother, and she was the one who planted the forged documents in my parents' bedroom. Now, she was no longer a witness and for that reason, oppositions against my mother had reduced but somehow, I still felt anxious. After a brief recess, the judge returned with the verdict and as my eyes remained fixed on her, I hoped and prayed whatever she was holding unto was good news.“.......
