Lyla’s POV

The hotel hall was a grand sight, meticulously decorated for the wedding reception. It was vast enough to accommodate twenty thousand people, each seat carefully arranged, glowing with the soft shimmer of chandeliers. Yet, amidst the beauty and celebration, a storm raged inside me. My contractions were growing more intense, their sharp waves hitting with an unrelenting force. The weight of what was happening felt impossible to ignore. My breath came in shallow bursts, my whole body trembling as the pain coursed through me.

I had been supposed to stand beside Bailey, my sister, as her Maid of Honor, a position of pride I’d been honored to take on. But now, I was anything but that. All I could focus on was the pain, and the growing fear in my chest. My first pregnancy was never meant to be this difficult. And to make matters worse, I was carrying twins. I had been warned, of course, but nothing could have prepared me for this.

Jace was there, though, his presence a strange co

Chad’s POVI was glued to my screen, staring at Bailey’s wedding broadcast. The event was everywhere—on blogs, social media, and even on news outlets. I couldn’t help myself. I had to watch. When I first caught sight of her, I was shocked. She looked so different. She was bigger than I remembered, but in a beautiful way. It was clear she had blossomed over the years. And now, her sister was getting married to Collins—Jace’s right-hand man. I couldn’t fathom how she had ended up with him. But, still, I thought to myself, I wish her well. However, there was one thing I couldn’t stop thinking about. Lyla. I could see her from the corner of the screen. Lyla looked amazing—she was glowing, more radiant than I had ever seen her. But she also looked... different. I couldn’t put my finger on it. Was she pregnant? She looked a bit plump around the face and belly, but she was still breathtaking. Her smile was contagious, and when I saw her, I couldn’t help but feel a wave of emotion rush over m

Bella's POVI was deep in sleep, wrapped in the warmth of my blankets when a faint knock echoed through my dreams. At first, I brushed it off, thinking it was just my imagination playing tricks on me. But the knock came again—calm, steady, persistent—and this time, I had no choice but to acknowledge it. My voice was thick with sleep as I groggily called out, barely able to open my eyes."Yes? Who is it?""It's me, Mrs. Maddy," came the soft reply.I groaned, pulling the covers over my head, not quite ready to face the world. "Come back later, Mrs. Maddy. I’m so sleepy and tired."Her voice had an edge of worry as she spoke again. "It's Henry, he refuses to eat. He said he wants wraps for breakfast, but we've run out of tortilla wraps. I don’t know what to do, he won’t eat anything else, and his school bus will be here soon!"I could hear the anxiety in the nanny’s voice. Henry was often like this—some days he was a perfect angel when it came to meals, eating whatever was put in front

Lyla’s POVI couldn’t shake the loneliness that had crept into my life since Bailey left for her honeymoon. I should’ve been happy for her—she deserved this time of peace and joy with her new husband—but a heavy weight lingered in my chest. Bailey was gone, and I was left to handle the emptiness alone. To make matters worse, just before she left, her staff had been transferred to Collin’s house. I wasn’t sure how to feel about that. The whole situation was strange and unsettling, but there was nothing I could do about it.It had been two weeks since the wedding and the incident that changed everything. Jace had gone away on a work trip shortly after. And while I had hoped that time away would provide some relief, it only gave the others in the house more time to mistreat me. Sasha and Mrs. Karev made my life unbearable, reminding me daily that I was nothing more than a maid in their eyes. I hated myself for what I had allowed my life to become, but I couldn’t find the strength to brea

Lyla’s POVI had been holed up in my room for hours, avoiding the world outside. The house was eerily quiet—just Jace and me, the only ones home—and I couldn't bear to face him after how everything had ended between us. The last time we had spoken, things had been tense, and I knew that any attempt to patch things up would be more complicated than it seemed. I wanted to avoid that discomfort, the hurt we both felt, and yet, my mind kept pulling me back to those moments we shared. Those quiet, simple times when we laughed and joked, his presence always so comforting in my space. As I sat by the window, the soft light streaming in, I couldn’t help but feel a pang of longing. Jace’s fresh haircut earlier that day kept flashing in my mind. He looked so different—so effortlessly handsome. It struck me how much I had missed him, missed his energy. And if things had been different between us, maybe... maybe I would’ve pulled him into a hug, kissed him, and let him know just how much he meant

Lyla’s POVThe celebration was overwhelming, with the grandeur of the evening stretching far beyond my expectations. Sasha was glowing—beaming with happiness as she soaked in all the attention, her smile never fading for a moment. Mrs. Karev had organized the event to introduce Sasha as her daughter-in-law, which in itself was a cause for celebration in their circle. I, on the other hand, had been reduced to the maid of the day, running errands for everyone, making sure that things went smoothly. I was hardly presentable, my clothes wrinkled and disheveled from rushing around, my hair a tangled mess. No one seemed to notice, though, or care for that matter. I was just another part of the background.Mrs. Karev was deep in conversation with her group of friends. Her voice was the loudest among them, a fact that didn’t surprise me. I tried to avoid making eye contact with anyone, but as my eyes roamed around, I saw Sasha’s mother for the first time. She was everything I had expected—and

Lyla’s POV.I had spent hours cleaning, long past midnight. The guests had all left, and now the garden, which had once looked pristine, was littered with discarded glasses, food wrappers, and confetti that seemed to refuse to settle. It was as if the mess was a reminder of the chaos I’d endured just hours before. I’d been tasked with cleaning up all on my own, and exhaustion was starting to creep in. My back ached, my hands were sore from scrubbing and wiping, and every movement felt like a struggle. At some point, I had grown too tired to continue, and despite my best efforts, I dozed off on one of the chairs in the garden. I didn’t remember when I fell asleep—perhaps I was simply too tired to notice the passing of time. All I knew was that my body felt as though it had finally given up. The rhythmic sound of my own breathing was all I could focus on. I hadn’t realized how much I needed rest until my body decided it could take no more.I woke up with a start. The tap on my shoulder

  • Married To My Husband's Sworn Enemy    Chapter 72

Lyla’s POVMy back ached as I moved around the kitchen, preparing breakfast for everyone. The sound of clinking silverware mixed with the soft hum of early morning conversations. Sasha, who was already awake and lounging at the table, stretched her arms with an exaggerated yawn.“Oh my God! My bones are aching! I need a massage,” she groaned, her voice carrying the weight of someone who had been pampered their entire life and was now, for some reason, inconvenienced by the world around her.I glanced over at her while continuing to serve scrambled eggs and toast onto plates. As I set the plate in front of Jace, I noticed he wasn’t paying attention to Sasha. His eyes were glued to his phone, fingers flying across the screen as if nothing in the world mattered except whatever was occupying his attention.“Did you hear what I just said?” Sasha's voice was sharp, clearly irritated that she wasn't receiving the attention she felt she deserved. Her eyes darted from her fiancé to me, looking

Lyla’s POVThe kitchen smelled of fresh herbs and spices as I wiped my hands on a towel, finishing up the dishes. The last of the lunch leftovers were tucked into the fridge, and the countertop was clean. It was the kind of order I needed in my life right now—some semblance of control. But as I looked out the window, the nagging thought returned: I needed rest. My back was killing me, my exhaustion mounting, and the weight of the baby growing inside me felt like an anchor dragging me down.I was just about to head upstairs when Sasha entered the kitchen, her wide grin almost too eager. She didn’t look tired, not at all. In fact, she looked full of energy, perhaps more than usual. I knew what was coming. I could see it in her eyes before she even spoke.“This is the list of everything I want you to grab from the supermarket,” she said, handing me a crumpled piece of paper. “And don’t forget, I’m craving dark chocolate and cookies. I’m pregnant too, you know, and I need these things sto

Bailey's POV The rain came down in a quiet drizzle as Bailey wandered the campus garden, the fog from her breath mingling with the early morning chill. The same phrase clung into her memory like a scar.“She was never supposed to know.”She had not told anyone yet, not even Lyla. Silver hair, sharp eyes. Something about him screamed military or something worse. The man held out a letter. “Dr. Jace Karev?”“Yes,” Jace said carefully.“I was told you’re the only one who can help.”Jace opened the letter. It was hand-written. “This man should be dead. On record, he is. But he isn’t. Bailey's POV The emergency lights flickered in the archive room, throwing Bailey and Callum into crimson shadows. The girl—A-11—stood eerily calm between the cabinets.Bailey’s breath hitched. She couldn’t look away.Same height. Same build. Same eyes. But there was something off about her… like a reflection bent by time and darkness.“You’re lying,” Bailey whispered. “I don’t have a sister.”“No,” the girl replied coolly, “you have an upgraded prototype.”A-11 stepped forward, lifting a finger and tapping the metal case with a smug smile. “Everything you need to know about me is in there. Right next to the pages that say you were supposed to be terminated before age five.”Bailey recoiled. “Terminated?”Callum moved protectively in front of her.The girl chuckled. “Relax. You’re useful now.”Gunshots echoed again in the distance.“They’re coming,” she added. “You have two minutes before this place gets turned into ash. Make a choice, Bailey. Come with me—or die like the others.”Bail

Bailey's POVIt was the beginning of the year in medical school,Bailey Turner had never been so excited as she would finally be a neurosurgeon, it's something she had wanted right from her childhood. She got to the gate and waited beneath the arch of St. Clair Medical School’s East Wing, the frosty morning air pulling at the tips of her chestnut hair. She gripped the strap of her schoolbag as though it were a soothing relief to the tension already building within her and gazed up at the building's glass exterior. Rain had created lines on the surface resembling ghost fingers. She took a deep breath. This wasn’t just any school. It was the dream Claire had whispered into her ear since childhood. It was the life that had almost been stolen from her again and again—by shadows, betrayal, and secrets that still clung to her skin like smoke. Now? It was hers. She stepped through the door, clutching the faded photo of her, Lyla, and Claire one last time before sliding it into her coat.Room

Becky’s POV “No, this is unacceptable. None of this makes sense,” Becky said, her voice raised as she ransacked her old hospital files. “If we are not her parents, then where did she come from?”Chad lifted a dusty box marked “Olivia – Birth.”Inside were photos, documents, the footprint card… and then—“Where’s the birth certificate?” he asked.Becky froze.“I… it was always there.”They tore through every folder, drawer, envelope. Nothing.Chad turned pale. “She must have taken it.”“Lyla?”He nodded. “She knew this day would come.”But Becky noticed something else in the box—a small piece of paper tucked inside a baby photo. It wasn’t handwritten. It was typed, and it was coded. It read:"Room 408. 11:47 p.m. Not the one she expected. Claire switched the vial."Becky’s eyes widened. “Claire again.”She immediately pulled out her phone from her purse and dialed a number. “Who are you calling?” Chad asked inquisively. “An old contact, shs said. Lyla’s POV Lyla rose from her seat. This time, her expression faltered —just slightly.“She was never supposed to be mine,” she began quietly. “When I found out Chad cheated, I was furious. I wanted out, but I couldn’t lose everything at once. I had just discovered he was infertile.”Becky stared at her. “So you stole—”“No,” Lyla interrupted. “I made a deal.”She turned to the judge. “That hospital wasn’t just where Becky was restrained. It was where I paid to have her artificially inseminated.”Gasps exploded in the courtroom.“What?” Chad stood again. “That’s not possible. That’s not—”“She signed consent while sedated,” Lyla said. “Technically, the paperwork was in order. I chose the donor. I ensured the embryo was viable.”Becky clutched the side of the wooden chair to keep herself from falling.“You turned me into a surrogate?”Lyla didn’t blink. “You were already falling apart. I gave you purpose.”The judge stared in horror. “This… This is a criminal offense. This is beyond

Becky’s POV The day of the custody hearing felt like the eye of a storm—quiet, but heavy with pressure. Cameras lined the steps of the courthouse. News vans had arrived hours ahead of dawn, crowding the sidewalk like vultures attracted to a newly found carcass. Becky was in the rear seat of a stationary car a block away, her fingers shaking even with the heat of the coffee she held. "She’s going to turn this over," Becky remarked, not glancing up. “She always twists everything.”Chad sat beside her, staring straight ahead. “She won’t this time. Not with the evidence we have.”Becky laughed bitterly. “You don’t know Lyla like I do.”“I married her,” Chad said.“No,” Becky turned to him, her voice soft but sharp, “you married the version of her she wanted you to see.”There was a pause. Then, Chad opened the door.“Let’s go get our daughter back.”Lyla arrived like a queen returning to her court. Sleek black SUV. Immaculate coat. Flawless makeup. Her legal team surrounded her like

Lyla’s POV Lyla was halfway through a business pitch when Chad suddenly barged into her office, unannounced. She raised an eyebrow but didn’t pause.“I need five minutes,” he said firmly.“Not now.” As you can see I'm in the middle of a very important meeting. You need to excuse me now. He didn't leave, rather he dropped a USB drive onto her desk.“You’ll want to see this.” he persuaded. Her tone changed. She nodded and signaled for her team to step out. There was a brief silence immediately the door shut behind them. Chad walked to the screen on her office wall and connected the drive. And with one click, the hospital video began playing. The screen showed Becky, panicked, tied up and restrained, crying out through sedatives. A nurse was forcing a document into her hand. And in the background—clear as day—stood Lyla.Unblinking. Watching. And doing nothing to stop the nurse. Lyla didn’t flinch, she only shuddered her shoulders. But her jaw and fist tightened.“You were there,” C
