Kids are a breath of fresh air

Adam's POV

Walking out of Christabel's ward, I strolled to the waiting room, hands in pockets.

The smell of disinfectant and bleach attacked my nose like a b*tch in heat.

Nurses pushed carts, and doctors passed as I sat, feeling an unimaginable urge to smoke, every time I saw their hurrying backs.

The right side of the hall was my son's ward, the trim next to it was my brother's, while opposite was Christabel's.

Reviewing a call this afternoon from a panicken strike John, telling me my brother was stabbed and rushed to the hospital made my insides almost in a knot.

Thankfully, Fred was beside me at that time.

I looked like a mess, no doubt about it, but I couldn't do sh*t to care. Telling Christabel about Andre was a mistake on my part. I wanted to keep it from her, but my wife wouldn't let it happen.

The company was still a mess. I had managed to get one or two things done before coming back to the hospital, but I don't think it would hold.
