MAURICE'S POV

Exhaustion washed over me as I stepped into my house. The familiar walls caused my tense muscles to relax. I was back in my haven. I didn't need to watch my back so often and concerned myself with figuring out who was trying to kick me out of business. Here, I could have time to myself.

"Yeah!!!!" The deafening squeal and the heels clicking hit my ears. I groaned as all my thoughts of relaxation jumped out the window. Lucy was home.

She rushed to me, jumped and latched onto me like a child excited to have her dad back.

"You stayed longer." She chided with a pout.

"I had to. Something came up." I explained as I let Nora take my briefcase.

"Welcome sir." Nora greeted. She disappeared as quickly as she had arrived.

"You were out with that woman, weren't you?" Lucy accused.
