Dominic's pov:

Without a word, Suzanne walked past me, her heels clicking against the polished floor as she made her way to the bar. I watched as she gracefully slid onto a stool, her back straight but her movements unusually slow.

Something wasn’t right.

She rested her hands on the counter, her fingers lightly tracing the rim of an untouched glass. Her expression was distant, her eyes unfocused as if lost in thought.

I knew that look.

She was thinking deeply. And whatever was on her mind had pulled her away from the moment entirely.

What is she so caught up in?

I exhaled and forced myself to turn back to business. Oscar and the others were already deep in conversation about a potential deal.

I nodded along, pretending to be fully engaged, but my attention remained with Suzanne.

Then, I noticed movement near the bar. A man, someone I didn’t recognize, approached Suzanne.

His stance was confident, his smile easy. He leaned in slightly as he spoke to her.

I clenched my jaw.

My focus wavered. Half of me remained in the conversation with my business partners, but the other half was locked onto the exchange at the bar.

Suzanne, for her part, didn’t seem flustered. She listened, tilting her head slightly, her expression unreadable.

And was that a smile I just noticed?

I forced myself to stay seated, gripping my glass tighter. But the longer I watched, the more my patience thinned.

What the hell was this guy saying to her? And more importantly… Why wasn’t she walking away?

I watched for a moment longer, my patience snapping with each passing second.

Suzanne wasn’t moving away. She wasn’t shutting him down. And worst of all—she was still listening, still entertaining whatever nonsense he was saying.

Enough!!!

Pushing back my chair, I stood and strode toward the bar, my presence enough to make all heads turn.

The man talking to Suzanne didn’t notice me at first, too caught up in whatever line he was feeding her.

I stepped between them, placing a firm hand on Suzanne’s lower back. “Get your things,” I said, my voice low, and controlled, but carrying a weight that left no room for argument.

The man scoffed, finally acknowledging me. “Hey, man, I was talking to her first.”

I turned to him, my eyes sharp, my voice dropping to something darker. “And now you’re done.”

He opened his mouth as if to protest, but I didn’t give him the chance.

“She’s my wife.” The words came out edged with finality, a clear warning.

The man’s expression shifted, hesitation flickering across his face before he took a step back. Smart move.

Suzanne remained silent, but I could feel the tension in her body as I guided her out of the casino.

The silence between us was thick, charged with something neither of us wanted to acknowledge.

I couldn’t ignore the way she looked tonight, the way every man in that room had stared at her.

And I sure as hell couldn’t ignore the way she had sat there at the bar, lost in thought, completely unreachable to me.

That frustration, that need to claim her, to remind her who she belonged to, boiled over. As we sat next to each other in the back of my limo, while the driver took us home.

I reached for her, pulling her closer. My lips, finding the exposed skin of her shoulder.

Suzanne let out a small gasp as I trailed slow, lingering kisses up her neck.

“You drive me insane,” I murmured against her skin.

Her body melted into me, her breathing uneven as my hand slid up her thigh, slipping beneath the hem of her dress.

“Ahh…” She let out a soft moan as my fingers teased higher, her skin warm beneath my touch. I could feel her body responding, her thighs parting ever so slightly as I inched closer to what I craved.

And then, Ahem. The driver’s voice cut through the thick tension. “We’re home, sir.”

I clenched my jaw, exhaling slowly as I pulled back. Suzanne’s face was flushed, her breathing still uneven as she looked up at me.

This wasn’t over. Not even close.

Suzanne’s pov:

I saw him before he reached me.

Dominic was making his way toward the bar, his strides measured, and controlled—but I could feel the storm beneath the surface.

Still, I pretended not to notice.

I kept my gaze on my drink, fingers tracing the rim of the glass as if I were deep in thought. But my body betrayed me, I was well aware of every step he took, of the way the air shifted when he finally reached me.

Then, his hand pressed against my lower back.

"Get your things," he said, his voice low and commanding, but there was something else beneath it. Possessiveness.

I barely had time to react before the man I was speaking with protested, claiming he had started talking to me first.

Dominic’s response was sharp and final. “She’s my wife.”

Something about the way he said it, the raw authority in his voice, made my breath hitch. And just like that, he took my hand and led me out of the casino.

The ride home at first was silent, thick with an energy I couldn’t explain. My heart was still racing from how he had claimed me so effortlessly, from the way he had looked at me, like I was his, not just in name, but in every way that mattered.

Then, suddenly, he reached for me.

His lips brushed my shoulder, his touch igniting a fire deep in my core.

"You drive me insane," he murmured against my skin, his voice rough with need.

I melted into him, my breath catching as his hand slid up my thigh, inching closer, teasing me with every slow movement.

I was completely lost in him.

And then, “ We’re home, sir." The spell shattered.

A lazy smile played on my lips as I stretched, reaching across the bed, expecting to feel Dominic beside me.But the bed was empty. My smile faded as my eyes fluttered open. The space beside me was cold, as if he had been gone for a while. I sat up, my gaze scanning the room, only to hear the faint sound of running water. The bathroom door was slightly open, and through the gap, I saw Dominic step out, a towel wrapped loosely around his waist, droplets of water still clinging to his chiselled chest. His dark eyes met mine, but there was no softness, no trace of last night’s passion. Just the usual unreadable expression.“Good morning,” I said hesitantly, watching him as he ran a hand through his damp hair.He barely acknowledged me. “Go to your room.”My heart sank, but I masked it quickly, nodding stiffly before slipping out of the bed and making my way to my room.A short w

Dominic’s pov:The dining room was quiet except for the occasional clink of silverware against the delicate plates. I stared at the plate in front of me, my appetite conflicted with the weight of my emotions. Suzanne had cooked for me.I wasn’t sure how to feel about that. Normally I would have ordered her not to enter the kitchen. She sat across from me, serving Kaii small spoonfuls of mashed potatoes while stealing glances in my direction. I didn’t look at her, but I felt it—the nervous anticipation in her body language, the way she pressed her lips together every time I lifted my fork but didn’t take a bite. Finally, I cut a piece of the steak, speared it, and brought it to my mouth. The moment the flavour hit my tongue, I froze. It was incredible.Rich, perfectly seasoned, cooked just the way I liked it. I had eaten meals prepared by the best chefs in the world, but this… this was different. It was warm, comforting, and oddly personal. Before I knew it, my plate was empty, and

Suzanne’s pov:Guilt was a heavy thing. It sat in my chest like a boulder, suffocating and unrelenting. I had stormed out of Dominic’s study deeply offended, convinced I had been wronged and betrayed. But now, as I sat curled up in bed, staring at my phone, the weight of my assumptions pressed down on me.I had been so sure, so utterly convinced that he was hiding some grand, devastating secret. And yet, the truth had been something else entirely—something deeper, something that spoke of responsibility and loyalty, not betrayal. With a groan, I buried my face in my hands. I jumped to conclusions. Again. Before I could talk myself out of it, I scrolled through my contacts and tapped Stella’s name. She picked up on the second ring. “Well, well, well,” she drawled. “To what do I owe the honour of this late-night confession?”I sighed. “I messed up, Stella.”There was a pause. Dominic’s pov:I watched her leave, her back rigid, her steps hurried as if she couldn’t escape fast enough. The door clicked shut behind her, and for a long moment, I just sat there, staring at the space she had occupied. My fingers curled into a fist against the polished wood of my desk.Damn it.The call I had been on cracked back to life. “Dom?”I sighed, pinching the bridge of my nose. “Yeah.”Desmond exhaled on the other end. “So, are you finally going to tell her, or are you going to keep up this act and let her drown in her own conclusions?”I leaned back in my chair, closing my eyes. “It’s none of her concern.”“She’s your wife,” he countered. “Contract or not, she’s living in your house, in your life. You can’t expect her to sit in silence while the whole world speculates about you and Rachel.”I clenched my jaw. “I told her not to believe everything she reads.”Desmond scoffed. “That’s not enough, and you know it. Dominic still hadn’t come out from his study, and I refused to go knocking on his door like some desperate woman begging for his attention.
