Nova's POV
He cleared it all. Even though I wasn't ready to face him, I had to. I couldn't let this one slide too. As the cab got closer to the company's building, I felt lightheaded, and I almost considered turning back. But Max's pale face and red eyes made my heart ache soo much. I took a deep breath and made my way inside the building. Fortunately, I spotted Jace happily talking to some of his colleagues surrounding him. But as soon as he saw me, his face twisted to an angry scowl. He plastered a fake smile on his face before he left them and walked up to me. "What are you doing here, Nova?" he whispered harshly, pulling my arm along with him. "I thought I made it clear that I'm done with you and I don't ever want to see you anywhere near me. Why can't you freaking move on?” "I'm not here to beg you, Jace, I'm here for something else,” I replied, pulling my arm away from his grip. “The joint account. How could you drain it and leave me with nothing?” But Jace just laughed and raised an eyebrow. "So? Do you think you have any right to question me about my finances? What can ‘You’ possibly do about it? Sue me? Or do you think that flimsy salary you earned in that library was worth a penny? Do you think I'll let you keep leeching off me like you've been doing for years?” Leeching? I stared at him wide-eyed, I couldn’t believe the nonsense that had just come out of his mouth. I scoffed, “I've been leeching?” “You practically leeched on me since the day I met you in college, when you drained money out of me you decided to use my intelligence for your own selfish ways and made me feel worthless. Like that wasn't enough for you, you made me lose the only thing I ever dreamed of!” I yelled angrily. All those years I ignored the red flags, I still stuck to him despite knowing that I was used but the fear of being alone made me stay longer. And now all I'm left with is a deep regret, bitterness and revenge. Jace looked away from me, “You better keep your voice down ‘sister’ This is a workplace.” He whispered harshly. “Why? Are you scared people would find out? You should remember that you're in this spot because of me, Jace. All those ideas you submitted as your projects were mine including this recent one that got you promoted.” Just then, Naomi walked with a smug look on her face. "Hey, Nova. I see you're still clinging to the past," she said. "But don't mind me," she said, batting her eyelashes at Jace. Jace smiled at Naomi, and I felt a pang of anger. " I'm just dealing with some unfinished business," he said. After Naomi left, Jace turned to me. "You need to leave, Nova. Now." But I refused to back down. "I'm not going anywhere until you give me back my share of the money.” Jace's face turned red with anger, and he took a step closer towering over me."You're pushing your luck, Nova.” he said, gritting his teeth. “Or what? Will you push me over again?” As Jace's face turned redder, he took a step closer to me, his hand reaching out to grab mine. But just as he was about to grasp my wrist, a hand clamped down on his shoulder, spinning him around. "Do it and I'll make sure you never use these hands again." a voice said. “This isn't your business," Jace snarled. But the stranger paid no heed. Instead, he towered over Jace, looking at him dead in the eye. "It is. I won't let you ruin this company's image with your barbaric act. Keep your hands to yourself.” Suddenly, several men in suits walked up to the stranger and surrounded him. Jace clenched his jaw and looked around. He stared at them before backing down. He must have realised that more people were watching and any violent move would tarnish his image. The stranger smiled, "I think we've established that I'm not someone to mess with," he said. "And as for you, Mr...?" "Jace," Jace muttered. "Ah, Jace. As for you, I think you'll be interested to know that I'm the CEO of this company. And more importantly, I'm Nova's husband. So you better apologize for your despicable behaviour before I make an example out of you." My eyes widened as my gaze instantly met with the stranger and time seemed to stop. He's Jace's boss?!! And most importantly, he lied about being my husband?!! Jace looked like his eyes were about to pop out of their sockets while his mouth hung open like a dead fish. His boss called out his name and Jace finally closed his mouth. “I'm sorry,” Jace muttered with his head low. I couldn't believe what was happening. Never in a million years would I have ever thought Jace would apologise to me. For the first time in years, Jace apologized to me. "Not satisfactory but I don't have your time.” His boss smiled warmly at me while his hand grabbed my waist gently, “Darling, shall we discuss privately?" I nodded, still unable to talk and we walked away. I glanced back at Jace. His face was still pale, his mouth kept opening and closing. The look on his face made me oddly satisfied, I wanted to see more of it. That apology he gave was just the tip of what was to come. Meanwhile, his boss led me to a luxurious office on the top floor. "Please, have a seat," the stranger said, gesturing to a plush armchair. I sat down wondering why he went as far as inviting me to his office and more importantly, how did he know my name?! "Nova, I'm Levi," he said, his voice low and smooth. "We met at the bar last night. Remember?” I frowned, trying to remember the events of the previous night. But my mind was blank. I meet a lot of people every night and it's not easy to remember someone except when they stand out. Levi chuckled. "I'm not surprised you don't remember. We had a bit too much to drink. I'm the man whose bride ditched him.” And then it finally clicked, “Oh, I think I remember now. You were looking for a bride in the club.” Unlike the previous night, his once messy hair was now slicked back, showcasing his broad forehead. The suit and tie made him look…. Elegant. Even the way he spoke was different. Levi leaned forward, his eyes serious. "Yes, and we ended up getting married.” I laughed. "That's impossible, I remember I turned you down, sir. Also, thanks for the save, again, but I have something urgent I need to do." I still need to get the money for Max. "I assure you, Nova, it's quite possible. And I have the documents to prove it." He pulled out some documents from his locker and handed it to me. As I began to read it my mouth hung open. I couldn't believe what I had in my hands. Marriage certificate, complete with our names and signatures. “How did I agree to this? This is definitely forged.” “It's not forged. We got drunk while I still pressed on about the marriage till you eventually agreed. In return you made me promise to help you whenever the need arises.” Levi said and he handed me his phone, displaying a series of photos taken in the court. I couldn't believe it. I would never do something so reckless, but the evidence was right there in front of me. Levi smiled, relieved. "It seems you're starting to remember. I appreciate what you did for me last night. But I really need your help again.” “With what? Shouldn't it be over?” I asked. “I sent the pictures to my grandfather as proof when we parted ways but now he wants to meet you.” “What? Why?” “We need to make it believable, the marriage. I was thinking he might want us to have a public wedding.” “What?! A public wedding? No way. Look, Levi, I came to this place for a reason so if you excuse me I have something really important to do.” I said, standing up and attempting to leave. “Please Nova, it won't be forever and it will be strictly for business. It's just for a little while before I fix the problem with the company. I promise to compensate you.” He pleaded. Just as I was about to respond, my phone buzzed. I glanced at the screen to see Max's name flashing. “Anything you want. You mentioned you wanted to get revenge on the people who betrayed you right? I have all the resources. Whoever it is, trust me I can help you with that.” With the mention of revenge and the stunned look on Jace's face from earlier, I knew exactly what I wanted. Revenge on my ex-husband and his family, including his lovely Naomi. I'm going to become his boss’s wife and make sure they sees my face every single day.Nova's POV“Will you really do anything I want?” I asked, and he nodded."I'll do it," I said finally.I watched Levi relax back into his seat, his once creased brow now relaxed, and his hair was already slightly dishevelled. He closed his eyes, and for a moment, I thought I saw him smile. Then, he let out a soft breath, almost like a puff of air, as if he'd been holding his breath for a long time. "Thank you." He said. I guess he really needed me for his plans, too, but it was good. This way, we'd get what we want.He stood up and walked over to a nearby cabinet, then turned back to face me. "Juice?" he asked, smiling.“Hmm,” I nodded, watching Levi mix the contents of two juices together. I stared at him confused as I wondered why he did so. Why didn't he just offer me one? I found it quite disturbing, but I couldn't voice out my concerns just yet. After he poured the mixture into two glasses, one for me and one for him, he handed me mine. But I waited for him to drink first, and
Levi's POV I watched Nova's eyes widen in surprise as I pulled away from the kiss. The kiss left a tingling sensation on my lips and I craved to go back for more. I broke the first rule, but it was needed. Everyone needs to know that she's mine, plus, I was enjoying the surprised look on her face as I smiled at her. "Nova!" The sudden shout of Nova's name cut through the air, shattering the moment we just shared. We both looked back to see the same man that she was with earlier today. Jake or whatever he called himself stormed towards us, his jaw clenched and his fist balled. The sight of him walking up to us after breaking me away from the heaven I was slowly entering annoyed me. Why does he have to be a pest? Does he really work here? “Do you know him?" I asked, still holding Nova, I hoped she wouldn't notice how annoyed I was about the disturbance. But she blinked at me and shook her head. “Never met him before. I don't know why he's harassing me.” I tightened my
Levi's POVMy gut twisted into knots as I watched the video. People swarmed what I believed to be Nova's house. Paparazzis to be exact. Cameras flashed, and some reporters tried to break past the security I'd assigned to her. "Shit, I need to go," I muttered, already on my feet. But I stopped. I realized I had no idea where she lived. "Eric—" I started."I've got the address, sir," Eric interrupted. "I've sent it to you. I've also notified more security and Mr Joel to follow you in case you need to take action."With a nod, I rushed out to head to Nova's house. This was exactly why I'd told her to stay in my place. I knew it wouldn't be safe for her to be alone, especially with the news spreading like wildfire. But I hadn't expected the paparazzi to find her location soo quickly. As I arrived at Nova's house, I could see the reporters were getting aggressive, trying to push past the security team. I pushed through the crowd, my security team clearing a path through the sea of cameras
Nova's POV ‘You Gold-digger, you dumped my son and went for his boss?! How disgusting and shallow can you be?!’ ‘You better stop this game and come back home right now while I'm being nice!’ I had woken up to the vibrations from my phone. Jace's and Sarabi's messages had been pouring in like waterfalls since yesterday till now. I could imagine how mad they would be. I could picture Sarabi's face in a scowl, screaming like a maniac and Jace's chest huffing and puffing at every single word he would spit out of his mouth. A smile slowly formed on my lips, then it turned to a giggle, and finally, a very disturbing sound I never knew I had came out of my mouth. But my laughter was cut short by a sharp pain in my head. It was like a herd of elephants were having a stampede in my head as I rolled on the bed. I instantly felt a sharp pain in my waist as I tried to reach for my phone. As I sat up in bed, memories from the previous night hit me. I honestly don't know why a bathroom wou
Nova's POVI thought things would be easy since I signed the contract and we were already married. But now, I realized Mr Ronald held all the power. If he wants me out of Levi's life, all he has to do is say the word, and Levi wouldn't object to it.A chill ran down my spine as I felt like I was drowning in my own demise. Why now? My journey to make Jace pay for what he did to me was just beginning, and now it seemed like it was all being ripped away from me.I felt Levi's large hands move from my back to clasp my shaking hands."Your wedding is in two days," Mr Ronald's voice cut through my thoughts. My head instantly shot up at those words, but before I could say anything, he left the house with Gloria.I didn't even realise how stressed I was till I released a shaky breath. It was like my whole body had been dipped in ice, and I instantly looked at Levi, who also seemed shocked. It was like he wasn't expecting it but there was still a small smile on his face. But then it struck me.
Nova’s POVThe car came to a sudden stop and it felt like there was a rockslide in my head. The only thing I could hear was a continuous ringing and I groaned as I tried to get my vision straight. I must admit that was an expensive lie, but at least Levi would finally drop the subject about that embarrassing incident. My body was on fire and it was like I was going to melt into my seat. Why did he have to bring that up? Shouldn’t he be embarrassed? Or is he just a big jerk?“Are you ok? Are you bleeding?” Levi's eyes were filled with worry as held my head, turning it round like it wasn't attached to my neck. His once-perfect hair was scattered and his suit was a little rumpled, but luckily, he wasn't injured. He placed his hands on my shoulders and released a shaky breath. He went ahead to touch my knee. "Hey, are you still hurting from the fall? I noticed you were limping earlier."I rubbed my head, trying to play it off. "I'm fine, Levi. Just a little ache in my waist.”His eyes
Nova's POVI looked up to see Mr Ronald walking into the room with Gloria by his side.I was right. He and Dominic really planned this. Pay me off to run away from the wedding and leave Levi waiting on the altar. Just like they did to his ex.I wondered how low they would stoop. Especially his grandfather. But why? Was it because he was illegitimate? Was Dominic even right about that? Does it even matter?Suddenly, I heard someone groan and I followed the noise to see Dominic stumbling backwards. It seemed Levi had punched Dominic's face. My eyes widened in shock as I stared at Levi's hand, his knuckles were stained with blood. I rushed to the dressing table, grabbed a napkin and rushed back to Levi who had just thrown another blow. “Don't you ever talk about my wife in that manner Dominic! Don't you ever fucking disrespect her!” Levi growled, his jaws clenched and his breathing was ragged.I tried to push him off Dominic but he didn't budge. Dominic just laughed with his bloody nos
Nova's POVThe piano music instantly died down and guests began to murmur.I went stone cold, my heart was pounding in my chest as I squinted my eyes to find the owner of the voice. Then I saw the man and my breathing hitched. The familiar face at the back of the church, walking up to us, took everyone's attention. It was a face I never knew I would see in many years to come.Austin, Jace's old friend. The last time I saw him was shortly after my court marriage with Jace years ago.So what was he doing here? How did he get here? Did he know I was getting married again? But how?I only invited Naomi and a few people from the bar. I didn't even invite Jace as I didn't see him in the office that day and I wasn't even sure if Levi had fired him or not.I felt a bead of sweat trickle down my spine as he stared at me in shock, but I knew I had to keep my cool. But it was getting harder by the second. My hands began to tremble, and I clenched them into fists, trying to steady myself even t
Levi's POVI felt like I'd been punched in the gut. I stood there, frozen, my pants around my ankles, my dick still throbbing with desire. Her rejection stung, and I couldn't help but wonder what I'd done wrong. She shook her head, her eyes avoiding mine. I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. I didn't want to pressure her or make her feel uncomfortable. But damn, I wanted her."Okay," I said finally, trying to sound calm. "It's okay."I pulled up my pants, feeling like a rejection wasn't just about the sex, but about me. I turned to leave, but Nova's voice stopped me.She did the unexpected. Pulling me forcefully on top of her and wrapping her legs around my waist. I was shocked but I still refused to press further.I stared at her confused. But she kissed me and nodded.I took it as a go-ahead.I separated my body from her and I slid a finger inside her and she immediately jerked back, gasping. Her wet pussy tightened around my finger as I continued moving slowly insi
Levi's POV I couldn't help but stare as I saw Nova walk down the stairs smiling. She looked gorgeous. She wore a red knee-length dress, which hugged and boobs perfectly. It wasn't the same from her waist to her knees. It was just… a little more free, but it still showcased her tiny waist and wide hips. When we got to the beach, the party had already begun. As promised by the neighbour, we weren't even more than 10. Music was blasting through the speakers, and I could smell barbecue and marshmallows. She let her guard down a bit, laughing freely and even accepting their drinks from the ladies who stole her from me. She seemed to be enjoying herself, and she kept looking my way, smiling. I smiled back, and she would grin before looking away. My mind drifted back to earlier today, and the anger that still simmered beneath the surface. I had already put the pieces together, and it made perfect sense. "The Ex" who messaged her today was the same person who had crashed our wedding. He
Nova's POV Something about Levi's story left a sharp ache in my chest. His once cheerful and confident nature just disappeared. I could see the pain in his eyes when he spoke about his late mother and his grandfather.I finally understood why he got angry. I think I also understood why he was working this hard to get this company from his grandfather. His words compelled me to speak up and before I knew it, I was telling him about my life. Things only Max and I knew.I shared what I could, leaving Jace and Sarabi's part out. It would be better if no one knew about it.But immediately Levi asked me about the intruder, I went stone cold.I didn't know what to say, should I just lie that he's an ex? I don't even know how long Austin would be staying here for or if he's back permanently. What if he crosses with us again? Levi's voice cut through my thoughts, "Hey, hey. It's OK if you don't want to talk about it now." He stroked my hair, his touch sending a shiver down my spine.I faked
Levi's POVAs I pulled out a pack of cigarettes from the glove compartment, Nova slapped it out of my hands. "What the hell?!" I growled. "What was that for?!" "What do you think you're doing?" she demanded, her brows creasing.I gritted my teeth and clenched my jaw. I hadn't smoked in years, but the reporter's comment left a bad taste in my mouth and now Nova was lecturing me. How dare he assume Nova was a prostitute just because she worked part-time in a bar? How stupid could they be? I didn't even want to think about it further.“Hand it back,” I commanded but she refused.I wanted to drag the pack back from her but she moved away from me, holding the pack tightly against her chest. I watched as it raised and fell with each breath she took.I glared at her and she glared back. Like she was daring me to try and take it from her. I clenched my fists and raised my brows at her, doesn't she know this position puts me at an advantage?“Whatever you're thinking won't work Levi,” she s
Nova's POV "What good will a librarian do in an enterprise like this?"Mr Ronald's taunting words replayed in my mind, making my heart race. His words made my blood boil. But, unfortunately for me, they were true. What would people say when they find out I work in a local library during the day and help out in a bar at night? What would his business partners say?But did Mr Ronald really give me with no strings attached? After all the drama he caused earlier? Or is it some type of test to see if I could be easily bought? The more I thought about it, the more it felt like a trap. And to make matters worse, Levi accepted it without a second thought. But accepting the shares would give me more power than just being Levi's wife. This way, my revenge would be more satisfying. Not just blackmailing Naomi to be my bridesmaid. Or wearing my shoes for me or even making Jace watch me from afar. However, I have to say Mr Ronald's announcement really shocked me, not just me but it also shocked
Levi's POVI smirked as Nova pressed her hand on her cheeks and looked away from me, smiling. I couldn't tell her how breathtakingly beautiful she was earlier because of all the drama. The white gown fitted her curves very well. Highlighting her tiny waist and caramel-toned skin. I must say, the florist did a very magnificent job picking the flowers that ran down the aisle. They complemented her skin tone perfectly. Every shade was made to make her shine.I remembered how Dominic had shamefully tried to pay Nova to leave me at the altar. The memory of it still made my blood boil, and it annoyed me that Nova stopped me from punching him to my satisfaction. But I was relieved when I saw her walk down the aisle. I initially thought she would sign the divorce papers and leave. I was scared she wouldn't keep her part of the agreement even though she seemed to comfort me.The offer was a lot. 100 million and 3% of the company shares? Who in her right mind would refuse an offer like that? A
