Chapter 5 - New Home

[Olivia]

It's been a chaotic week since the small parlor wedding that felt more like a joke. All my family was concerned about was to make sure we registered our marriage, which we had no option to do

It's my third day as a married woman. I was still at my apartment but I was finally moving to Lucas's house today. I've been hesitant about moving, it didn't feel real, we've drafted our contract specifically including every detail that is supposed to keep the marriage going for six months which was the time limit I agreed on.

One of the strict rules in the contract was Making sure to stay out of each other's business, including a strict no romance relationship, Lucas had been adamant about it, his words still echoing in my mind

“Do not expect us to be in any romantic relationship of such, just because we are going to be staying in the same home. Make sure not to drift away from any of the contract's rules.”

I shook my head chuckling to myself, what was he thinking? I stood and watched the few boxes I'd packed that I would be moving with. I wasn't leaving my apartment entirely, I would still be using it as it's close to my office.

Meanwhile, I have to get ready for the move, the moving bus I called should be arriving in an hour or two. I needed to take my bath and make sure everything was in place before they arrived. I was still feeling tense, despite my efforts to relax. It still didn't feel real that I had just exchanged vows with a stranger I'd known for less than a month.

We just had a parlor wedding with just my family and Lucas with two of his friends. I explained to my grandmother that we will be having a big wedding soon but it can't happen at the moment as Lucas has a lot of projects at hand and thankfully she bought my lies.

I was just about to take a few steps to my washroom when the knock on the door pulled me back. Was the moving company already here?

I made my way towards the sitting room. I knew very well that I'd specifically mentioned 10 and it was barely 9 am. I turned my doorknob and was startled by the figure standing in front of me.

“What are you doing here?” I was taken aback by his sudden appearance, he stood before me flanked by two huge bodied guys in uniforms.

“Didn't you say you were moving in today?” Lucas asked, his voice firm and commanding.

I hesitated, feeling a flutter in my chest. “Yes I did but I never asked for your help.”

Lucas's expression suddenly turned cold, his eyes narrowing slightly. “I'm a busy man, and you should appreciate that I took out a few minutes of my time to be here young lady, I'll leave it to you then.” He turned to leave, gesturing for the two young guys to follow behind him

“Wait,” I called out, feeling remorseful by how rude I just sounded.

He turned back to me, his eyes flashing with annoyance, “What?”

I swallowed hard, feeling intimidated by his cold face. “You're already here, you might as well help me.”

He snorted, his expression unchanging, with his hands he gestured for the young men to step in, I led them to the packed boxes and they began picking them one after the other. I went ahead to pack the few things I still needed

He stood by the door, his gaze narrowing from one place to the other. I was walking around trying to make sure everything was ok when his eyes fell on me and our eyes locked for a moment. I looked away, my face growing hot with embarrassment.

“I haven't taken my bath yet, I need to do that before joining you.” I protested feeling a bit defensive in my disheveled state.

His eyes fixed on some point behind me, he brought his gaze back to my face scanning me from head to toe, his blue orbs piercing through me, he finally spoke

“I don't have all the time in the world, I just decided to come pick you up myself who knows what would happen next, when you nearly got lost by just picking up your car.” He growled.

“Meanwhile I have a bathtub at home, and you can clean up there.” Before he finished his statement the guys were already picking up the last box.

“I'll be downstairs, don't waste my time” He blurted out and closed the door behind him

Is this man serious right now? How am I supposed to step out like this? not like I invited him either, he must be joking.

I made my way to the washroom and turned on the shower to room temperature.

“He can wait for all I care, I never invited him,” I murmured under my breath, feeling the sweet sensation of the water on my skin.

When I was done with my shower, I opened my wardrobe searching for a perfect fit that would be free and make me comfortable. I didn't bother packing all my clothes because it was of no use since this fake marriage was going to last for six months.

I settled for black pants and a light blue Zara crop top that clogged to my skin, I brushed my hair, I packed my brown silky hair in a messy bun, and I wore my Liv-ocean raspberry perfume, this perfume is from my brand - one of the things we manufacture.

As I finished getting ready, I picked up my car key and headed for the door. expecting him to have left by now, as I had spent more than thirty minutes.

I stepped out of the house and to my surprise, the black SUV was still packed in front of my apartment. He rested his back on the car, his eyes fixed on me with an intensity that made me uncomfortable. I tried to brush past him heading towards my car.

“What are you doing?” His voice stopped me on my track.

“Driving of course, what does it look like I'm doing,” I replied trying to sound confident.

He raised an eyebrow, his eyes never leaving mine “You're not going to drive behind me.”

I hesitated, feeling a flutter in my chest. “No, I'll drive myself.”

But before I could finish, he grabbed my hand and pulled me towards his car. “Get in,” he said, his voice firm.

I felt a shiver run down my spine as he helped me into the passenger seat and buckled my seatbelt, his face was inches from mine, his breath grazing my skin.

He finally spoke, his voice low and firm.“Your keys.”

I handed them over to him as he passed them to a guy who I didn't even notice was standing there at first. He went over to the driver's seat and settled in.

The drive was silent, the only sound was that of the engine purring to life, Lucas finally broke the silence. “Did you have breakfast?”

I rolled my eyes, feeling a surge of annoyance. “What time was I supposed to do that?”

My stomach chose that moment to betray me, releasing a loud growl. A few minutes into the drive he stopped at a driveway and I picked up some burgers and fries with a vanilla smoothie.

We finally arrived at the estate, we drove in and stopped at a huge mansion, he stepped out which I followed, and the warm morning sun beat down on me. I've always been in love with the summer season. I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe as the fresh air filled my lungs, the exterior screamed luxury.

We made our way to what I assume to be the frontage of the house, but I suddenly stopped almost bumping into Lucas's back. My eyes widened in shock as I looked up, taking in the sight before me.

I watched as a figure in front of the mansion rolled disgusting eyes at me and did the last thing I expected.

Who…wait… h… hold on, is this what I'm thinking?
