"Belshar, hi. Your mother invited me for dinner, but something came up and..." She paused, her gaze meeting mine, "I guess I missed everything didn't I?"

"You didn't miss anything, and you can still see Séda, you know how she gets after dinner"

Bella chuckled and smoothly tucked her hair behind her ear. "You are right about that," she said smiling at him as if they both shared a secret the world had no idea about.

My chest felt tight as I watched them and I didn't know why. Was I jealous? If I was, it definitely wouldn't be because of Belshar. I didn't even like the man. Maybe I was jealous because Bella represented everything I wasn't.
