EMILY'S POV

My eyes widened in shock as Ronald walked into the conference room with so much aura. ‘How did he get to know? Right! It's his company, so he would, eventually,’

Ronald's gaze swept the room, his eyes scrutinizing the crowd as if searching for a specific person. His intensity was tangible and I felt a shiver run down my spine as his eyes locked into mine. ‘Why does he have this power over me? Why can he unnerve me with just one glance? it's frustrating… and terrifying.’

Time seemed to slow as he strode towards me, his confident strides closing the distance. The room faded into the background, leaving the two of us suspended in anticipation.

He joined me on the stage, he drew me close, his warm breath whispering against my ear “ What's going on here?" he whispered, his voice low and husky.

I felt a shock of electricity as his hand wrapped round my waist, sending sparks coursing through my veins.

I looked away from him facing the press so that he wouldn't see my flushed che

But my mind refused to focus.‘Who does she have an appointment with?’ I wondered, Emily's face lingering in my thoughts. A pang of curiosity or perhaps something more, stirred within me. I tried to shake off the distraction, directing my gaze to the documents on my desk. However, my thoughts continue to wander. ‘What if she is seeing someone?’ I said in my thoughts, feeling tightness in my chest.‘She can go out with anyone she likes, we are not romantically married anyway,’ I shrugged, fixating my eyes on the work at hand.As I worked, the hours ticked by and my eyelids began to droop. I let out a languid yawn, arching my back to relieve the tension that had built up. Just as I was starting to relax, the sudden thrill of my phone pierced the air. I glanced at the screen and Colin's name flashed back at me.Colin’s booming voice exploded through t

I was greeted by the workers as I went up to the master bedroom.Getting to the room, I glanced through the room and didn't see Ronald, placed my bag on the bag rack, stripped myself bare and went into the bathroom. I came back to the room and sat in front of the mirror, tying my hair into a bun when the door opened, revealing Ronald. My face relaxed into a smile “I didn't realize you were home,”“Same here, I've been home for a while. Finishing work and all,” he said, hands in his pocket.“I just got back,” I said, still focused on moisturizing my face." How was your outing? How did your appointment go?” he asked, rubbing his neck.I stopped mid way, my hands off my face. I turned, glancing at him. ‘Did he just ask me about my outing?’ I yelled in my thoughts. ‘ Is this the Ronald I know or another? RONALD'S POV As Emily descended the stairs, time seemed to slow. Her silver heels clicked out rhythmically, drawing my attention to her slender legs and the curve of her calves. The fitted gown hugged her body, showcasing every contour and I felt my breath catch. She was stunning. Breathtaking and the epitome of elegance. My eyes roamed over her, drinking in the sight of her porcelain skin, her full lips, and her sparkling eyes. Her hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall of silk, and I ached to run my fingers through them. For a moment I forgot to breath. Forgot to think. All I could do was stare, my heart was pounding in my chest like a mortal. I was captivated by her beauty. I was so lost in the sea of her beauty that I didn't notice her approaching me. “Is there something on my face?” She asked, her voice snapping back to reality. I hesitated, still reeling from the impact of her presence.“Huhh..no, yes. You've got something on your hair,”I stammered, quickly recovering up

My heart jumped in excitement as I engaged with the dignitaries, their warm words of praise leaving me blushing. RONALD'S POVI glanced over at Emily severally during my discussion with Gerald. ‘What could Amy be discussing with Emily?’ I said internally. The discussion with Gerald soon ended. As I approached Amy and Emily I could sense the tension in the air. Amy's smile seemed forced and her eyes flashed with anger. I locked eyes with her, my jaw clenched. I slipped my hands round Emily's waist. “Emily, sorry I left you alone for a bit,” I said,my voice smooth. “Amy, what brings you here tonight?”Amy's eyes never wavered but her eyes narrowed slightly, the other two spoiled brats she called friends stood by her side. “ Just enjoying the evening, Ronald,”I raised an eyebrow, doubtful. I knew Amy too well. She was up to something.I watched Amy smile, her eyes gleaming with a sweetness that didn't quite teach the soul. As she handed Emily her card, I intercepted, my hands closing Emily's, pulling her close.“Actually, Emily's schedule is quite busy.” I said,my tone firm. " I’ll make sure t

EMILY'S POVMy eyes opened slightly,I found myself sinking into the plush softness of my bed, but the comfort was quickly overshadowed by a searing headache that threatened to split my skull in two. I winced, struggling to sit up straight, and gingerly opened my eyes to take in my surroundings. The room spun around me, making my stomach lurch.I pressed my palm to my forehead, trying to massage away the throbbing pain. "What happened?" I muttered aloud, my voice hoarse from sleep. "How did I even get home last night?" I rubbed my temples, attempting to ease the ache, but my memories of the previous evening remained frustratingly foggy. The more I tried to recall, the more my head pounded, leaving me feeling disoriented.I gazed down at my clothes, and my heart sank as I realized I was still wearing the same outfit from the previous day. A wave of panic washed over me as I struggled to piece together the events of the night before. I attempted to stand up from the bed, but as soon as

RONALD'S POV I opened my eyes to see Emily's serene face as the morning light illuminate her sleepy face, her chest rising and falling steadily. I had carefully cleaned her up the night before, making sure to avoid removing her clothes, as I couldn't risk raising any suspicions. Bringing Martha into the situation was out of the question, or it might jeopardize my entire plan - a mistake I couldn't afford to make again. She mumbled softly, rolling and lying on her side, her face a few inches away from mine. My heart raced as I stared at her flawless face, her eyebrows, the curve of her nose, her inviting full pink lips, I swallowed hard as the memory of the previous night rushed in. I slowly and quietly rose up from the bed to prepare for the day's work. Emily was still fast asleep when I got ready to go to work.I arrived at work early, accompanied by my personal bodyguard. EMILY'S POVI hesitated for a moment before answering,my mind racing with questions ‘Ethan? Why is he calling me?’ I muttered under my breath. I picked the call. “Hey, Emily!" His warm, cheerful voice filled the line, the opposite of my guarded demeanor. I twirled a strand of hair around my finger,a nervous habit I thought I’d long outgrown “Hi," " How are your day going?"he asked, his tone light and friendly." It's fine, thanks." My response was curt but I didn't mean to be rude. I was just… cautious.Ethan didn't seem to notice. “ Good, good. I was thinking we should grab coffee sometime? Catch up on old times?”I paused, my mind racing. Why was Ethan reaching out now? “ Coffee?” I repeated stalling. “Yeah, just a friendly chat,” his tone was easy going but I detected a hint of sincerity underneath. " I know this might be uncomfortable due to our past relationship. Give us a chance to be friends again, I promise never to disappoint you again.” He added, his voice low and husky.
