Just as I thought. His brother was the leader of the pack, but what was he? He said I am an alpha are two alphas supposed to be in a pack? More questions ran through my mind as he tried to explain this new world I found myself in.

"I am an alpha so am I supposed to have a pack of my own?" I asked, I am not sure I want to lead anybody. When I decided to run, I planned on being a very normal average girl, so normal people would not notice as I passed beside them.

"No, you are..." I interrupted him with a loud sigh of relief. He gave what looked like an amused smile and continued.

" Since you are an alpha female you are to rule beside your mate who could either be a beta or an alpha..."

"What do you mean by mate?" I asked interrupting him again.

" I would prefer if you do not interrupt. The second in command is the beta and beta females, there are other betas but they are under the first beta's control, it is just like being the vice president. The next is the gamma, they are like the u

"shift". I do not how to shift, it is not like I controlled the shift the last time. I looked at my hands wondering where to start. He saw my internal conflict and rolled his eyes. " Just imagine yourself in your wolf form" I closed my eyes and soon my ears were filled with the sound of cracking, I didn't want to look at my bone bending in an abnormal direction. I opened my eyes when the sound stopped and looked down to see paws. I still couldn't believe it. The shift wasn't as painful as the first time but it was painful. My wolf was happy to be in this form waggling tail like she was just presented with her favorite meal. I looked up to where the alpha was and something clicked in my head as his scent became stronger. The word rang in my head and the realization made me almost stagger feet. MateThat can't be possible. It can't be. I just turned, just started getting acquainted with this world I don't need a mate. Can't fate go easy on me? On the other hand, my wolf was very thri

I found myself in an empty room with light everywhere, the whole place painted white reflecting the light and making it hard to see as my eyes were slow to adjust. I was trying to figure out how I got here when I heard someone crying. I looked around again and that was when I found a door, it was also white. I guessed that is why I didn't see it before. As I went closer to the door the crying grew louder. I opened it slowly only to find darkness. I opened the door wide allowing the light in the room to flood the dark place. There was a boy, no a man bent over crying like he was in pain." Hello," I called gently but there was no response." Hello," I called out again, this time louder. He raised his head only for me to see it was Adam."Adam" Just as I called his name the door was violently slammed by an imaginary force and I woke up, it took me a few seconds to realize it was a dream. It felt surreal. I looked at the time.6: 00 amI wasn't told the time my training would start so I d

"Alaia, what is wrong" Charlotte's concerned voice couldn't calm me. I looked at him and Denver was glaring at me "Wifey, Do you want to be like me, we could hurt people together. You have the power to do it" he said holding his hand out to me. " No, no, no...I would not do that" I took a step back and another and another as I continue repeating the words. " Alaia, wait what is wrong?" She said shaking my shoulders and I looked at her and the man and then her again." I can't do it, see the way he kept punching that man he could have killed him. That was violence and I wouldn't engage myself in that. I need to go home" I told her pointing at the men who were once fighting but are now looking confusedly at me. But I didn't back down, I know what it was like to be on the receiving end of violence so I wouldn't do that. The instructor, Jake or Jeff I couldn't remember came to me placing his large palm on my shoulders. "Come with me pup, you wouldn't be doing any of those things," he s

Well, it seems like I made two friends today. Upon opening the door I was greeted with a mouth-watery aroma. I all but ran into the kitchen which made Evan turn in surprise. I was about to greet him but my stomach beat me to it, rumbling in hunger since I hadn't had anything to eat since this morning. The kitchen island was used as a makeshift dining table with deer chili, garlic rolls with a gooey cheddar center, and Fritos; a carb-tasty meal. I dragged out a stool as my belly rumbled again in another growl of its own. " Someone looks famished," he said laughing at me but I didn't answer him instead I heaped the plate to the extent that the food where falling from the plate. "Easy there" he teased. I dug into the food ignoring him as he kept teasing me. He said something like my eating habits were unladylike. " Just because we are werewolves doesn't mean we don't have manners, girl "he had said. I had gotten to half of my plate when there was a knock on the door. "I will get the

RRIINNGGGThe sound of the alarm was what drew me out of my erotic dream. I needed a very cold shower. My eyes searched for the sound that woke me up to see it was an alarm clock on my bedside table. I could swear that it hadn't been here before, but instead of wondering who put it there I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. After having my bath, I came out with a bathrobe wrapping me. I went to the dresser, grabbing a hairbrush to smoothen the tangles. After making sure it was tangle-free, I waited a little for the person that normally brings the clothes to come in but no one came, till I remembered that Charlotte had already bought clothes for me. I went over to check the closet which I never bothered to open before. I opened the door to see that it was a walk-in closet which was bigger than the one in Denver's place. I could hide in here if I was in danger. I studied the door closely to measure the thickness, and it was moderate. There were varieties of clothes arranged in the

'I am Adam's betrothed' That was the only thing that my brain registered and kept replaying in my head. I looked to Evan to say something but he avoided my eyes, looking interestingly at his glass of wine. I was dumbfounded; I couldn't form words out of my mouth. I kept quiet, why does it hurt? This is what I wanted, for him to move on with his life because I don't feel ready to walk into another relationship. She laughed at how quiet I had suddenly become." You should be packing because I will make sure you are thrown out of this house". There was a rumble in my throat as a loud growl escaped my lips. It was loud and powerful as it shook the table. My wolf was already up and shaking her furs, ready for action. Something deep within me was growing. How dare she threaten me in my mate's house. I sat down there with the spoon bent in my hard grip, and I could see my fingers had grown into claws. I looked at her to see her face paled as she watched me with wide eyes even Evan who was c

On our way home, we saw a crowd gathered in the middle of the road. Luke said he wanted to check what was happening and I followed him because I was also curious. In the middle of the crowd, were two girls fighting, the girl on the floor was young and was beaten blue-black by someone older and no one did anything about it, they just stood there and watched a girl get bullied. Anger bubbled inside of me as she kept kicking the innocent girl on her stomach. The girl on the floor was too weak to do anything. It felt like I was seeing myself in her. I wouldn't stand and watch this. " Stop it" I shouted. Everyone turned to look at me, even the blonde tall girl who kept kicking the girl stopped to look at me. "And who do you think you are to stop me?" She looked at me daringly. I was a nobody but that doesn't mean I should watch her bully people. " If you wanted to display strength, why don't you bully someone of your age" I asked her. Stepping forward into the circle the crowd had formed

"Because I want you here with me," he said his eyes looking directly at me, my inside turned into mush as he said those words. I think I am falling in love with him but who knows it might just be a mere physical attraction."What about her?" I asked. I shouldn't be asking him this question since I was the one who told him that I wanted nothing to do with him. "You claim I am your mate, your other half, the one your soul longs for yet you go around having betrothed"" I never knew I had a mate, sunshine" he coaxed. My stomach flipped in excitement at the endearment, that I almost forgot what he said. Oh, I seem to forget no one made him believe he could have a mate."That is not an excuse" I lied. I turned my attention to his bedside table. There was a juice carton there but something told me it wasn't juice that was there."I know," he said. His lips had a hint of a smile on them, but his eyes showed how amused he was as they sparkled in the bright light."But she doesn't know I am you

She understood what I meant and gestured for me to wait before leaving. She came back with her bag, she already removed her apron and was talking to the other woman before waving her hand for me to follow her. I stood up and caught up with her." Let's start with Sandra's house. She said she's got a new job. Her house is not far from here. Come on" she said increasing her pace. It didn't take long before we got there. It was a small cabin with a small garden at the side. The place looked welcoming and well taken care of, but it wasn't until we walked up the staircase before we thought otherwise. The wooden stair creaked under our weight with each step we took. Kaitlyn was the one who knocked on the door while I stood beside her. We waited for a few seconds before the door clicked open to reveal a woman in her mid-thirties. She was wearing a pair of pants and a blue top that had a patterned rose on it. Her blonde hair was braided making her look very young the first thing that crossed

There are a lot of problems on our hands now and I don't want to add grudges to it. I knocked on the door of Jack's house. I know Jack would be in the training ground but I was hoping Jerry would be at home. I smelled him in the house immediately after I got here, so I knew he was deliberately not answering and that is why I continued knocking persistently. ClickHe unlocked the door but didn't open it. after I realized he wasn't going to open it, I turned the knob, opened the door and walked in."What are you doing here?" He asked me. I turned to see him behind me closing the door. " I wanted to come see how you were doing" I bit my lower lips in nervousness. His eyes flickered at the motion before he went back to drinking a glass of scotch. Chugging down the whole thing. He took the bottle and was about to drink from it when I snatched it from his hands." I am fine" he slurred. Am I supposed to believe that when he is drinking this much and there is a visible bag under his eyes?

I don't know what he was about to tell her, but I knew it wasn't going to be good. So as I watched her walk elegantly back to her bed and crossed her leg, my smirk grew wider than before. The place was wide and spacious, there was an open kitchen by the side and two other doors which I assume were the bathroom and closet. The whole walls were painted white and there was no window. " Can I get you something?" She asked. Evan shook his head. I knew she wasn't asking me so I didn't bother to answer. I could feel her glaring at me but instead of exchanging glares, I looked at the room. It was simple and elegant. There was a vase sitting at the side of the room, filled with colourful plastic flowers that were in contrast to the white wall adding to the beauty of the room. There was a beautiful painting on the wall, near the bed. It was a painting of a beautiful woman holding a demon baby in her hands. The baby had furs sprouting out of the skin on his chest hands and face, and its eyes w

Adam came into view with anger contouring his face. He looked at us and everything we had prepared down. He looked back at Jerry and before I could open my mouth to say anything, he grabbed him by the neck. " What the hell are you doing with my mate." He snarled at him. I stood shocked as Jerry started to say something to calm him down but he wasn't having it. Wasn't I the one he was supposed to be angry at? I should be the one he was supposed to strangle, and whip until I was screaming out my apologies. " I said what the hell were you fucking doing with my mate," he asked again. But Jerry couldn't bring out sound as he struggled to take in breath. When I saw how white he was turning I figured out I had to do something or else he was going to kill him." Adam, it is not what it looks like, trust me," I said. I struggled to remove his hand from Jerry's neck. He released his neck and Jerry fell to the ground inhaling hair greedily. His face was white and his neck was red. I dropped my

'Evan, open up' I mindlinked him.I placed Adam's arm around my shoulder and my hand around his waist to help him support his weight even if he assured me he was fine. To other people, it would look like I was the one getting support seeing as he is huge. When the door opened, I could see the warriors all watching us in shock and some in relief as we passed. Evan rushed to the other side of Adam. He was only a few inches shorter than Adam, so it was easier for him than it was for me. 'Are you hurt?' Evan's concerned voice rang in my head.'No' I answered. Adam removed his hands from mine, as Evan put his other hand around his shoulder. The shirt I wore was bloody, but there was nothing I could do about it until I got home. We all walked together back home. The whole place was still quiet and everyone was locked in their house. I felt guilty, even if I knew it wasn't a bad thing to ask questions. When we got home, we both walked him to his room. Evan left after he had assisted him to

"Ok, I will tell you."Bracing myself for whatever he was going to say. I could hear a dramatic music playing in my head."When my father died, Beta Enoch took over the post because I was in a dungeon". He confessed. His eyes stared at my hands that I held together on my lap. Dungeon, why would they put him in a dungeon? What did he do?" What did you do?" I said quietly, uncertain if I wanted to know about it. " I killed my father" I stood up in shock looking at him with wide eyes. My eyes almost fell out of its socket and my jaw was wide open. I wasn't expecting that at all. How? Why?I kept moving backward slowly till my back hit the door. He didn't stop me as I opened the door and ran out, he just watched me. People watched as I ran out of the pack, my brain reeling with many questions. And it was when I ran to the spot where Jerry took me for the first time after a run, that I regretted leaving. My questions weren't going to answer themselves. What could his father have done to

The door to the pack house was opened. The place was filled with people as they did whatever they were doing. The noise of chattering disturbed my sensitive ear. My blood was humming loudly, snapping and cracking, getting the attention of everyone. My wolf demanded acknowledgment and respect and she didn't like that she walked in and nobody gave her that. The whole place was silent for just a minute before chattering began again but this time, it was moderate. A few people scurried past bowing their heads. My wolf smirked.'what a weirdo' I internally said to my wolf. Forgetting I was referring to myself."Hey Alaia," Luke said. He looked back at the people in the room chuckling lightly as he saw the uneasiness of the people, my blood kept humming loudly. It was compelling their attention. " Can you tone it down a little, Alpha" Evan said speaking for the people in the room. Some looked at me in annoyance, because they were involuntarily giving me what I wanted. "That is if I could"

The pack is now busy, bustling with people here and there, as they run to do their daily activities while I run back home. My wolf yipped at Luke as he saw him on his way to the pack house. I saw Amber talking to Larissa in front of a cafe. Of course, bitches will always attract bitches. I shifted in front of the house and walked in.I carried my naked self to my bathroom, not forgetting to put Sabrina's doll in one of the drawers attached to the dressing table. I turned on the shower letting the dirt wash off my body and down the drainage. After a few minutes of just standing in the bathroom, I walked out wrapping a towel around my body. I stood at the dressing table, looking at myself through the half-length mirror, remembering how I was the last time I checked the mirror. I am different now, compared to then; I look healthy, beautiful, and very much younger than my age. My hair was a darker shade of red because of its wetness, my eyes were a light green, and you could see a flicker

" Thanks," I said quietly. I felt guilty for not telling him, I had already seen my mate. We laid back on the grass, watching the sun as it slowly sat at the horizon. It was beautiful, I had always enjoyed it. It wasn't an awkward silence. It was a peaceful and comforting one. I wasn't thinking about anything just looking at the sky."As much as I would have loved to stay here with you, I think we should leave" he sighed and sat up reluctantly. I didn't want to go, but I remembered I never told Adam or Evan where I would be. He grabbed my hand and pulled me up. "Thanks" I muttered dusting the sand off the shirt that I wore. Instead of going back, I should just meet up with the witches at the border, since I didn't feel like going home now. " Thanks for coming," he said."It's fine. I am glad I came and I enjoyed your company" " So does that mean we could do this some other time?" He asked with a raised eyebrow and a lopsided smile. He looks really cute. I laughed and nodded.
