CHAPTER THIRTY-TWO
For someone who was deep in sleep, I opened my eyes sharply. Like a resting crocodile would when another reptile tried to steal her eggs. I was sleeping but when I remembered Elliot and couldn't feel Kim on the bed, I had to get up.
'Did Elliot kill Kim?' That was a very stupid thought. If Elliot could let go of me when he wanted me the most to let me take care of a little girl then he could take anything.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes, searching for Kim but I couldn't catch even a glimpse of her. She opened all the windows in the room and the bright light blinded me for a second.
"Kim. Kim, where are you?!" I screamed, getting out of the bed.
The room was big... she could be anywhere. I turned to the bathroom when I heard her mischievous giggle. She had to be in there.
I opened the bathroom door.
"Good morning, Auntie Lexa," she said with a mouthful of strawberry toothpaste.
She was brushing her teeth
Dropping the chapter like I promised and I forgot to say something important. Happy New Month and this will be the last chapter of Marked By The Devil. I'm sorry to say that... APRIL FOOL! Might be dumb but you should know your author has a sense of humour too.
Lexa sharply turned to Elliot like he had committed a great sin. She stood up and stepped back, fearing for the worst to come. "P-poisoned? By-by who?!" Elliot held her hand and placed her on the bench with minimal struggle. He noticed that when she was worried or her thoughts were scattered, she couldn't use her powers to the maximum. That explained how the nurses could move her away so easily. She still needed training. 'Calm down, Alexa.' "Who would want to poison her?! Why?! She's already dying and yet she was... I'm gonna sue this hospital!" She turned her focus to the passing nurses and doctors, as well as the hospital itself. "How did my mother get poisoned?! Someone answer me!" Elliot had to drag her out of the hallway and into an unused room in the hospital but that didn't stop her from continually screaming. He placed her hand over her mouth and wouldn't stop unless she promised to. The colour of her green eyes had tu
He sat beside her on the sick bed, watching her breath slowly and waiting for her eyes to pop open. He had been there for an hour, waiting for any sign of recovery from her. He was so patient and for the first time, Lot waited with him without throwing any tantrums at him. He held her hand and kept looking at her fingers. He always saw something new when he looked harder. He felt her blood flowing but yet no response from her. He tried talking to her and begging her to wake up but nothing. Yes, he was frustrated but he didn't find it in his heart to leave her. He felt terrible about everything. Kimberly was dead and Lexa was broken because of it. Elliot too was also broken but he knew that the bond they shared was stronger than the bond he could ever have with Kim. He sighed and bent his head, placing her hand on his forehead... waiting for something. "Any response from her, Mr Vile?" Elliot didn't know when he entered but he d
Lexa knew she had to see Elliot. There were so many troubles choking her mind, so many unanswered questions, dangerous possibilities... She couldn't take it anymore. She removed everything that was attached to her body and stood to leave. "Miss Halton, what are you doing?" "I have to go." The fear of Elliot gripped the doctor's heart. "I can't allow you to leave. You are still under treatment." She moved all the nurses away from her and faced the doctor with a warning raised finger. "Don't try to stop me or you will regret it." She ran out of the ward and used her eyes and lips to search for Elliot. "Elliot! Elliot, where are you?!" She continued screaming as she combed the hospital building, searching for him everywhere. Other people in the hospital thought she had gone crazy but no one paid real attention to her. *** Elliot opened the car door, about to enter but he stopped. He could hear his name from his mat
"I don't understand." Elliot had never felt so confused and uncertain in his thousands of years of his reign. Lexa stepped away from him. "Did you...do it? Tell me." Elliot's lies had taken him to where he was. He didn't want to lie again so he thought well about what he wanted to say next. 'Did you do it, Lot?' There was a disturbing silence that went on for seconds. There was tension in the air and Lexa was feeling it's weight the most. She watched Elliot in silence, expecting the worst and hoping for the best. And she badly wanted everything that Rica told her to be lies. 'Answer me now, Lot! Your master commands you!' Lot kept the silence going before he said something. 'I don't know. I was angry. I killed more than just the campers that night and our mate's mother... could be..." Elliot didn't want to hear anything anymore. He rose his bowed head to Lexa and tried to get something out of his mouth. "What did Lot sa
Rica's POVI spinned the revolving chair I was sitting on. It twirled me 360 degree round a single spot with a big unending smile on my face as it continued to twirl me. Then I immediately stopped it.I looked towards a mirror and I could see my face...ageing. My end was near. Any normal witch would worry about it and begin to search for longer days but not me. I didn't care. I didn't care if I died today because my mission was complete.Almost complete. I had a last thing to do before I could tag my mission as 'completed'. I stood up from the chair and looked around me. I was in a destroyed uncompleted building that was located in the outskirts of Olia.Everywhere was dark but my crystal ball gave out bright blue light that brightened everywhere. The doors of the building were old and rotten, and they dangled from their hinges like they were only attached to it by a bare string. The floors of the building were covered with rusted nails and bolts,
Lexa's POV It was hard to sleep at night when he was not by my side. I felt vulnerable when his hands didn't trap my waists like he loved to do. I couldn't feel his cold pale skin on mine and I was feeling immense heat where I was silently sitting. Though we were high in the sky, which meant the environment should be cooler as science had proved but I felt so hot inside. I wanted to pull my clothes off my miserable body. I looked around me and realized that I was the only one feeling that way. That's when I realized that the heat was coming from inside me. On the speakers, a female voice announced something that I really wasn't listening to. 'Ladies and gentlemen, Bandasun Airlines welcomes you to Paris. The local time is 3:pm. For your safety and the safety of those around you, please remain seated with your seat belt fastened and keep the aisle clear until we are parked at the gate. Thank you.' Why wasn't I excited to be here? I always wante
DEDICATION: TO Kira Eyler. I am dedicating this chapter to a wonderful person for leaving a gem on our book. Thanks so much! Elliot's POV I was not patient but I could wait till the next day before visiting my kingdom. It had been a long time since I had seen it, but I remember it vividly. It was recently that I realised how much freedom I had given Andras on my throne. I chose him because I trusted him, but even the best demons can't be relied on. I felt like a fool. My love for Lexa had taken over me. I couldn't concentrate on my kingly duties. But I didn't regret falling for her. I would have my way and I would have both Alexa and my crown. I was picking out clothes when a knock announced itself on the door. I didn't want to answer it but it was the scent of the senior maid so I had to. "Enter!" She hesitated but entered my room. She came empty handed and not in her uniform, so it gave me the idea that she wasn't here to serve me gin or give me upda
Lexa's POVWe had been served our dishes. I was thankful I chose what I chose because when I saw my food, my lost appetite returned.Drinks were served with our food and we started to dig into it."It's been a while , Lexa," she said, eating to her heart's desire.I smirked. "Just a few months... But you changed so much."She smiled. "That's what money can do."She fluttered her eyelashes and moved her food slightly away then gave me a sneaky smile. To say the truth, I was confused at the sudden change in her position. Her movements didn't give me an idea of what she wanted to do until she talked."How are you and Elliot?" Wendy's smile grew wider and my smile grew lower. Even though she talked more now, she was still observant as she always had been. She noticed my dull face. "What's wrong? Did-did something happen?" It was hard to stop the tears from coming out so I used my cold palms to cover my hot teary eyes. I took a deep breath and cleared them. "You had a fight? Is everything
