Sasha had packed my bags before I woke. He had chosen some of my clothes for me to wear for the coach ride over to Sweden, it laid neatly folded on the desk. I took a quick shower, got ready and we headed out for breakfast.

We sat together on the coach looking out over the Oresund Bridge into the Scandinavian strait. It was a surreal feeling of being on a bridge and seeing nothing but water with no end in sight. Once we reached the man made island at the end of the bridge I gasped as we were about to go underwater in a tunnel. Wild scenarios started to play through my mind as I imagined the tunn

We flew into Reykjavik where Sasha had booked a rental car.‘We won’t get to our accommodation until supper time’ Sasha warned me, ‘But I do have to get a few things before we hit the road.’ He pulled up to a massive cathedral in the heart of the city. ‘I will drop you off here for a little bit while I get what I need ok?’

  • Malyshka   Chapter 27

SASHA'S POVWe spent most of the day in bed, making out, making love, and making promises. The sun shone brightly outside inviting us to take part in the day, but I couldn’t muster the effort. I didn’t even go for a run that morning as Avery gripped me tightly while she slept afraid I would slip her grasp. I made us some bagels for breakfast and we ate them in bed. It wasn’t until mid afternoon that Avery got up to make us some supper.‘Don’t get dressed’ I pleaded with her.‘Uh-uh, I’m not cooking naked’ she shook her head, ‘That’s incredibly dangerous, if you watched my show, you should know that I can be incredibly clumsy when I’m cooking’. I laughed remembering an episode where she accidentally hit an open bottle of whiskey onto the burner and the whole thing caught up in flames. She was surprised by the flames but calmly turned the element off while people rushed into the kitchen to extinguish them.‘Well if you’re going to be dressed, do you want me to film you making supper so

  • Malyshka   Part 2 Chapter 28

My first semester was incredibly busy. I had 5 classes and several of them wound up on the same day. I was a little overwhelmed to be stepping so far outside of my comfort zone. Being a cook was all I had known my whole life. But now I was moving into completely unfamiliar terrain. Nursing had always intrigued me. I could soothe the soul with food, but now I wanted to do more hands on healing. I had decided to live with Sam and drive the 45 minutes to university each day. I felt that I was too old to be living on campus and I didn’t really want to get an apartment close to the school. Plus staying with Sam meant I was close to the restaurant and could fill in when I was needed or just pop in to do some prep for the week during my down time.My first class on Monday morning was a health introduction course where the curriculum included learning about the different resources available at the university, how to write papers according to the American Psy

I had my first Biology exam at the end of October and although I did all the recommended reading and had perfect attendance I did poorly on the exam. I set up an appointment to meet with professor Vasily to go over the questions I had gotten wrong. He replied a short while after to make an appointment for the next day.Other than the first day of class I had never received a glance or any attention from the professor either in class or in the hallways. But he intimidated me, he was young and good looking and clearly very intelligent.I nervously made my way to his office which was at the end of a long hallway and found him sitting with his back to the door working on a powerpoint presentation. I knocked on the opened door and he swivelled in his chair towards where I was standing, a small smile formed on his face.‘Miss Chasse, what can I do for you?’ he asked, pleasantly.‘I was wonderin

I was awoken when my inflatable mattress dipped to one side causing me to roll towards Sam who had lain next to me. He placed his heavy arm around my shoulder and pulled me towards him in a tight one armed hug.‘Happy Birthday, Aves’ he said quietly, giving my forehead a quick peck.‘Thank you!’ I smiled up at him before closing my eyes again. Despite the melting frost outside, the living room was basking in the warm glow of the sun. Sam sat up after a few minutes and handed me a steaming hot cup of coffee which I happily wrapped my hands around as I inhaled the delicious aroma. We chatted a while enjoying our coffees together until Julie walked in.‘Happy birthday Avery!’ she sang with a wide grin on her face. ‘We made you breakfast in the kitchen, come!’ She grabbed my hand and pulled me out of my nest of blankets towards the table where a large serving platter of pancakes

Immediately after biology on Tuesday, professor Vasily invited me to join him in his office. There were a few people hanging around him with questions but he blew them all off in order to walk me down.‘Sorry folks, I have an appointment with the lovely miss Chasse here, but I will be available afterwards to answer your questions.’ He announced as he gave me a wink. I felt the others glare at me and I blushed slightly. Once in his office he closed the door and offered me a seat. We went over each of my questions and he gave me detailed examples to help me understand better. He was truly an amazing teacher.‘Miss Chasse, I was wondering if you’d like to meet up for a drink tonight’ he asked once we had gone over all of my questions. My heart leapt in my chest, I was unsure how to respond. ‘Not in a romantic way, of

There was a loud knock at the door as I was getting ready to go to class on a Monday morning in late November. Sam was already gone and I couldn’t imagine who it could be at this hour that wouldn’t just come in.‘Coming!’ I called as I pulled on my jacket and grabbed my bookbag. I unlocked the door and my breath caught in my throat. ‘Sasha?’ I gasped, at a loss for words, I dropped my bag and brought my hands over my mouth. My heart was pounding in my chest but my brain refused to believe he was actually there, in front of me, in the flesh.‘Malyshka…’ he purred with a wide grin, moving towards me with his arms outstretched. I walked into his arms and hugged him tightly around the torso, taking in his familiar smell. His arms wrapped around my shoulders as he squeezed me into his chest. He kisse

Sasha's POVAvery moved close to me and discarded my vest, I had long ago discarded my jacket and tie and undid the top few buttons of my shirt. She slowly undid the rest of the buttons on my shirt and ran an open palm across my chest. I was having an out of body moment, I couldn’t believe this wasmywife. This was the woman I had married and she was going to be with me forever. She undid my belt and the clasp that held my pants up. As soon as she let go of them, the pants fell to the ground, pooling at my feet. She smiled as she looked at my new underwear. She wasn’t the only one who could splurge on fancy underthings.‘Damn Kuzco’ she exclaimed, using the nickname my teammates had graced me with, ‘Versace?’ she questioned arching an eyebrow up, a grin stretching across her gorgeous face. She put her index finger under the distinctive band and ran it back and forth against my pelvis.

At 4h30 a stretched SUV picked us up from Sam's to bring us to my wedding. My heart sped up in excitement at seeing my groom and of having all the attention drawn to us. Kate did a few little touch ups as we entered the hall and the music promptly began playing at 5pm. I smiled as an instrumental version of Heart’s Alone began to play. Grace and Carter walked to the front of the room followed by Shae and Sam, Dmitry, Kate and Katya. It was finally my turn to walk down the aisle. As soon as I walked into the warm cozy room everyone stood up. I felt myself blush at all the attention I was getting but once I met Sasha’s eyes everything around me faded away. His piercing gaze took me in and he quickly wiped his eyes. I tried to keep my own tears at bay taking jagged sobbing breaths as I joined him up at the makeshift altar, his tears now freely running down his cheeks faster than he could wipe them away. Dmitry handed him a handkerchief as people laughed slightly a

On the 26th Celina invited Sasha and I to the venue to approve of the decoration at the hall we had booked. Sasha and I gasped in shock as we walked into our wedding reception. The floor to ceiling windows looked out into a valley of snow covered evergreens, the walls and ceiling were all finished in rustic wood. A large glass chandelier hung in the center of the cathedral ceiling, emitting a soft golden glow in the room. On the far wall a large stone fireplace sat majestically where I imagined we would have a roaring fire the next day. The table of honour was set up proudly on a platform at the right of the fireplace while all the other tables were to the left of it. Directly in front of the fireplace was an empty area which would become a dance floor later on in the evening. More tables were set up further away from the fireplace meant for food and drinks. The chairs were covered with a forest green material, while the tables were covere

I spent the week jotting down notes and reviewing more of Anna’s recommendations. Sasha and I had narrowed down a few venues and a wedding planner but he insisted on being completely responsible for the DJ. We sent our choices to Anna who booked everything we had agreed on and footed the bill. The next weekend Sasha and I worked on our guest list to get a better idea of which venue to choose. We both decided to have a small intimate wedding since we had both enjoyed the intimacy of Dmitry and Kate’s wedding and the fact that they were able to enjoy their day too.‘Do you want to invite everyone in your family?’ I asked ‘Aunts, uncles, cousins’ I enumerated.‘My parents and brothers and my uncle Igor and his family in Michigan’ he said.‘That’s it?’ I asked stunned,‘I only have one uncle,’ Sasha said, shrugging.

  • Malyshka   Chapter 49

Baby, husband, house and businesses aside, fourth year was a tough one for Kate and I as we delved into critical care nursing. We had a jam packed schedule with hardly a moment to take a breath. I skipped running with Sasha more often than I should and we hardly saw each other as his hockey practices became more serious and frequent. Sasha planned on making his last year in the AHL a good one, one where he could finally bring home the Calder cup. However, something in his tone hinted at the KHL and maybe another season at the AHL. I made it clear that I supported him no matter what decision he made, even if it meant going to Russia for a few years.I did not take many shifts at the restaurant as I tried to keep my head above water with homework, clinicals and housekeeping. I didn’t want to make Sasha feel like he was unimportant either, so I tried to go to as many of his games as I could without hindering my university performance. I still relied on

Third year nursing meant that we were doing clinicals in acute settings in the hospital. I was particularly fond of the surgical and maternity units. Kate however did not enjoy her maternity rotation, seeing all the things her body was about to go through freaked her out a little. It didn't help that her first maternity patient had a 3rd degree perineum tear and her second one had to have an emergency C-section with hysterectomy as her uterus had ruptured beyond repair. Despite being terrified of giving birth, her pregnancy was textbook perfect. She was only gaining baby weight, her blood pressure and sugars were normal and she didn’t experience any morning sickness. A lot of it probably had to do with her and Dmitry’s regimen of working out and healthy eating. The year wrapped up nicely as did Sasha’s season. Though they didn’t make it to the finals again that year, he had been bearable throughout the playoffs. In

Dmitry POVEven though the team didn’t make it to the finals, I was offered the head trainer position on a 2 year contract. I accepted without second thoughts. My dream was not to be a hockey trainer, but a boxing and MMA trainer. I wanted to open up a gym here and the head trainer position would help me get there. Two years was plenty of time for me to get a decent sum of money and get my dream on track.I was able to get a decent sign on bonus to put a down deposit on a house a few streets away from Sasha and Avery’s before the end of the summer. It didn't take me long to ask Kate to move in with me. She was a perfect little girlfriend, my little princess, and I wanted to see her everyday despite our hectic schedule. Her and Avery were about to start on their third year of nursing and I figured it would be just as advantageous for them to live close together as it was for Sasha and I to be within walking distance of each othe

Sam never asked why I was staying at his place, but he let me stay there nonetheless. He and Janice had just returned from a trip to Costa Rica. They had been seeing each other since she took the job at the diner. They were an odd couple to say the least. Janice was always so happy and easy going whereas Sam had always been the eternal bachelor in my mind. They lived separately, but Sam was often staying the night at Janice’s. He came back to do some work and enjoy his alone time. I worked closely with Janice at the diner to oversee all the changes she had made and I was impressed with her level of dedication to the place.‘Are you going to Sasha’s game Friday?’ Sam asked when I got to his place a few days later.‘Yes, I always go to his home games’ I answered.‘It’s just he dropped off tickets earlier for Peter, Jamie and I, but not for you’ he said with a raised brow.‘Oh… that’s w

We were finally in the exam period, and Sasha's team had made it to the playoffs. The tension at home was palpable, it was Sasha vs. everyone and we were all on edge. Dmitry and I did our best to stay out of Sasha’s way, but unlike me, Dmitry was quick to put Sasha in his place when he took out his frustration on either one of us. Sasha was short tempered, irritable and exhausted. He did not do well with stress, that much was obvious. He was never aggressive on purpose but he did not hold back what he was thinking. The exam period spanned over two weeks. My first exam was scheduled the day after Sasha’s first playoff game. I wanted to be supportive of his career so I made sure to attend his home games. I knew they were his most important games. I spent the week leading up to them studying so that I could attend the night before. I sat with my brothers and cheered on with them as his team won the first game of the quarter finals. Sasha wa
