Juke leaned his body into Dale, stretched across him, and opened the door to the closet he'd maneuvered him in front of. Dale’s fingers splayed against Juke's chest, relishing the feel of his muscles beneath. Juke sucked in a breath, his nipples hardened to the nails scraped over their tips.

Dale gazed up at him through his lashes. Heady by his nearness, as well as the fading scent of the peach fragrant shower gel of the night before—mingled with Juke’s natural odor, fuelled his desire to have Juke's cock inside him.

Although he'd wanted Juke to fuck him again when they'd showered together, sex seemed to be the furthest thing from Juke's mind. He'd bathed him, then carried him to bed. Wrapped himself around him, and within seconds, Dale was left listening to his steady breathing.

He couldn’t sleep, plagued with visions of how the next day might play out. Each scenario ended with his throat torn out and gutted, blood spraying from the wound.

The towel fell from his hips, waking him fro

Dale's heart pounded as he entered the huge hall within the massive building, his enhanced senses overwhelmed by the grandeur surrounding him. They had driven at least half a mile from the ornate gate to reach the family home, a journey that had given him plenty of time to grow more anxious with each passing moment.Juke explained that the two-story property was built in the Renaissance period, and its European architecture contrasted with the wild landscape beyond. High beams fashioned from large stones, the windows, and doors spoke of old money and older power. The grounds themselves could give Country Gardens a run for their money. The luscious foliage created a jarring contrast to the snowy mountain terrain of Juke's home. It was as though they'd entered an entirely different world—snow-covered hills and mountains gave way to what looked like a warm summer meadow.Dale was fascinated by the two-toned richness of this vast land, his enhanced vision picking up details that would hav

Juke's stone-faced father gasped. "Mother, that's not how things are done.""Relax, Jared. Nothing taking place today is how things are done. Have you ever seen anyone introduce a male as the bride of the next alpha? Be quiet, and let me speak to the boy. Come." She curled her finger toward Dale, the gesture somehow imperious and welcoming.Juke gave Dale a gentle push forward, his touch lingering at the small of Dale's back. The whispers of the gathered crowd followed him as he approached the grandmother, their curiosity a tangible presence in the air.Juke's grandmother stood to greet him, her height surprising Dale as she rose a few inches taller than him. She sniffed the air around him, her nostrils flaring. Excitement danced in her eyes like firelight. "Oh my, this is wondrous indeed," she chimed, clapping her hands in succession, the sound echoing in the vast hall. "Amazing, absolutely amazing."

The door burst open with enough force to rattle the portraits on the walls, and an angry-looking man with chocolate-brown hair marked by a double white streak charged into the room. His eyes blazed with fury as he dragged a distressed woman behind him. Her similar coloring and single streak marked her as family. The scent of their rage and distress filled the small room, making Dale's wolf want to hide.He threw the woman aside with casual violence—Jazz caught her before she could fall, his movements lightning-quick—and then he pounced on Juke. The two men tussled on the ground, their supernatural strength evident in the way the floorboards creaked beneath them. Juke got the better position, but before he could press his advantage, his father tore him off the brown-haired man, the force of the separation sending them all staggering."What is the meaning of this, Arif?" Juke's father demanded, his voice carrying the full weight of his alpha authority."You tell me. It's you and your of

"Will someone please tell me what the hell is going on," Kirk shouted, his voice cutting through the tension like a knife. The sudden shift to English made everyone turn to face him as if they'd just remembered he was in the room, the air thick with unspoken revelations."We're very sorry, young man. It's rude of us to speak in our mother tongue when we have foreign guests. Please excuse us," Noni said with genuine warmth. Jared grunted something unintelligible and stalked out of the room, his anger leaving a lingering scent of aggression in the air."Come with me, Kirk—I will explain things on the way. I need to get Dale home." Juke's voice carried barely controlled tension as he adjusted Dale's unconscious form in his arms.Kirk's face darkened as understanding dawned, color rising in his cheeks. "That cocksucking motherfucker, I'll kill him. I need a knife. Give me a weapon." His hands clenched into fists at his sides. "Why didn't you assholes speak English, where does he live? I'l

When Juke reappeared, his footsteps were lighter on the hardwood floor— his mood seemed to have lifted. The tension had eased from his shoulders, though his eyes still held concern. "They will be here soon. Paul said he's bringing dinner.""You guys really do have dinner early. It's a quarter after three." Kirk glanced at his watch, raising his eyebrows."Dale hasn't eaten. So we'll feed—then I will see you gone. I need to speak with Dale." The possessiveness in Juke's tone made Dale's wolf stir with interest.A short time later, Leah and Paul arrived, bringing the rich aroma of cooked food that made Dale's stomach growl. Jazz had tagged along, adding familiar warmth to the room. While Jazz and Leah busied themselves in the kitchen, the sounds of plates and cutlery creating a domestic symphony, Paul pulled Juke and Dale aside. His face was serious as he explained that Jared had called an emergency council meeting that night. Also, Juke's grandmother had arranged for Dale to meet with

Dale sat at the wooden table in the kitchen, his hands wrapped around a steaming cup of tea. The warmth didn’t quite reach his fingers as the chill of the early morning air seeped through the open window. A quiet reminder that the full moon was only days away. His nerves were too frayed to feel much else. The sky outside was an ink-blue, the faintest glow of dawn slowly creeping over the horizon.Juke paced back and forth, his footfalls steady but tense. Like a shield, Dale could feel the weight of Juke’s protective presence. He hadn’t said much since the night before. Dale guessed Juke’s mind was on the possible outcome from the Council later that day.He had acted like he didn’t care, but Dale could feel his unease through their bond. Noni had said she would be with them soon to take them to meet the elder.Dale shifted in his chair, his stomach knotting as he thought about the questions swirling in his mind. Why was his body changing so dramatically? How was it even possible for hi

The cold bit Dale's cheeks as he ran, Juke's hand gripping his. The forest blurred, growls and snapping twigs grew closer. Dale's breath came in short gasps. His legs burned as they pounded the uneven ground."Keep moving!" Juke's voice rang in his mind. His gaze flicked behind them, and his body coiled. Juke mind-linked Paul and Jazz for help, and he gave them his suspected location as they moved forward. Dale stumbled as Juke dragged him along but caught himself, the edge of his vision swimming. The forest broke into open space—a cliff loomed ahead of them."Juke," Dale panted, his voice shaking. "It's a dead end!"Juke didn't slow his pace. "Trust me."Noni mind-linked Juke. ‘Keep running, and don't get caught. I'm heading down the narrow path, leading some of them with me. I'll head back to the pack and get help. The council needs to hear about this. Your father will know what to do.’The growls behind them grew. Dale glanced over his shoulder to see dark shapes breaking through

As they entered the council chamber, hidden deep within neutral territory, Dale noticed everything about the cavernous room, from its stone walls to its high arched ceiling. Torches lined the walls, casting flickering shadows across the ancient symbols etched into the stone, giving off an eerie, medieval vibe.A long table stretched at the far end of the room, surrounded by high-backed chairs carved with intricate designs. The musty scent of dampness and age filled the air, almost suffocating in its heaviness. Underneath it lingered the faint aroma of burning lint, a reminder of the gravity of the decisions made within these walls. As he breathed in, Dale could taste the faint hint of earth and mildew, which left a gritty, unpleasant taste in his mouth. The chill of the damp air, mixed with the weight of the room’s solemn atmosphere, made him shiver. They arrived with little time to prepare. Leah briefed Dale on what to expect and a few choice phrases he should use to state his case i

Kirk's silver eyes darted around the room, taking in his surroundings with an unnerving intensity. His nostrils flared as he inhaled, processing the scents around him. When he spoke, his voice was rough and strained."Water... I need water."Jazz fetched a glass of water while Paul and Leah helped Kirk sit up. He gulped down the water when Jazz handed it to him, droplets spilling down his chin. As he drank, the silver glow in his eyes faded, returning to their normal color."How do you feel?" Paul asked, still supporting Kirk's back.Kirk lowered the empty glass, his brow furrowed in concentration. "I feel... different. Reborn, almost. It's like all my senses have been dialed up to eleven. I can hear your heartbeats, smell the fear lingering in the air, see dust motes dancing in the sunlight."He swung his legs over the edge of the table, testing his balance. "Everything's so clear, so vivid. It's overwhelming."Jazz exchanged a glance with Paul. "Kirk, do you remember what happened?"

Jared threw Kirk to the ground. Grabbing his neck, Kirk yelled. “You cocksucking motherfucker. What happened to giving a guy the heads-up?” Kirk’s eyes rolled back in his head as he continued his tirade. “I hope you rot in hell plagued with a gay virus that turns you into a bottom that’s shagged so hard you gain a second asshole. Fucking wanker.”He didn’t hear the other’s response to his verbiage as he faded into the nothingness that welcomed him.“Dad! What have you done?” Jazz asked, eyes wide with disbelief.“I turned him just like he wanted. It's up to him now if he lives or dies.” Jared tsked, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, then cleaning his hand on his pants.“That’s not what I meant. Did you have to be so vicious?”“He shouldn’t have pissed me off. Anyway, he had it coming.” Jared glared at the unconscious Kirk lying motionless on the ground, still gripping the wound on his neck, and nudged him with his foot. “What’s with the fussing? He’s not dead—not yet, anyway

“Roran, calm down. You’re making me anxious. Let’s think this through.”“What do you mean human?” If the situation weren’t so dire, Juke would have laughed at Roran's attempt to insult him by calling him human.“The clothes are Dale’s, but they’re the clothes he borrowed from Kirk. We bought him new ones. The blood is fresh but not enough to cause any life-threatening damage. The vampire scent is stale, probably used to throw us off. Arif is a vile, ruthless creature, but even he has a bottom line, and collaborating with vampires is one of them.” Juke waited for Roran to stop pacing as the fog of panic began to subside.“You’re saying this is staged for my benefit.”“Yes, they knew we would search for Dale in wolf form. They knew you would turn primal in your desire to save our mate. They assumed I would give you full control, and I almost did until I saw the shirt.”“So the one who did this knows us well?”“Yes. We have a traitor, and he is someone close. They know our full strength

While they were in the conference room, Juke’s wolf began to pace in his mind.“Roran, what is it? What as you so restless?”“Something is wrong. I can’t feel my little wolf anywhere. Juke, we must find him.”“Are you sure?”“Don’t ask ridiculous questions, and go look for him.” Roran's voice rang loud inside Juke’s head.Juke turned to his father. “Dad, I’d like to leave if you can continue without me. Something is wrong with Dale. I have to check it out.”Juke's father nodded, concern etching his features. "Of course, son. Find him. Let us know if you need help."Without another word, Juke bolted from the room, his heart pounding in sync with Roran's anxious pacing. He raced through the corridors of the main house, checking rooms as he went and reaching out with his mind, desperately searching for any trace of Dale's presence.Nothing.Panic rose in his chest when he didn’t find Dale in their bedroom. Juke burst out into the cool mid-morning air. He paused, scenting the wind, hoping

The morning was filled with stretches and lunges—Dale’s Adam's apple bobbed up and down, fighting back his arousal as he swallowed in the masculine scent of Juke, his mate, who hovered over him, pressing and pulling at his limbs. His expression—serious.“Cut it out, Dale.”Wide-eyed with innocence, Dale asked, “Cut what out?” he swallowed, “I’m not doing anything.”“I can smell your arousal.” Juke stroked Dale’s hair, then patted his head. “So stop it. I’ve been holding back for fear of hurting the pups. It’s been a while since we…you know—I’m just a man, and my wolf is an animal in every sense.”“It’s not me. It’s Zander—he says he’s weak but keeps flashing images of you looking hot, naked, and sweaty. He keeps telling me he wants to be mounted by his mate, and your scent is killing him.”“Got it.” Juke sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Zander is going to have to wait. Sex in wolf form is safer for the pups.”“Why do you keep saying pups? What if I only have one?”“That would

Dale leaned into Juke's embrace, his heart still racing. "So it's true? What, Zander said?"Juke nodded, his chin resting on Dale's shoulder. "Yes, most of it's true. Your wolf manifesting like this means you're close to your first shift. I'm sorry I didn't prepare you better. It's difficult to know what to tell you. As a changeling, I wasn't sure how it would happen for you."Dale pulled back, looking into Juke's eyes. "But why does he sound so much like Kirk? Is that normal?"Juke chuckled. "Your wolf often reflects opposite aspects of your personality or people who are important to you. If Zander reminds you of Kirk, it's probably because Kirk's humor and attitude have rubbed off on you more than you realize."Dale groaned. "Great. So I have an internal Kirk to deal with too.""Look at it this way," Juke said, a mischievous glint in his eye. "At least you'll always have someone to crack jokes with, even alone."Dale rolled his eyes but couldn't help smiling. "I guess that's one way

Dale left Juke in the bedroom and went about his morning routine. He hummed tunelessly as he prepared to brush his teeth, staring at his reflection in the bathroom mirror and wondering what the night would bring. It was early, and he was getting ready to start the day, fighting back the anxiety brewing within. "Just another day," he said, trying to reassure himself, spitting into the sink."Hardly," a deep voice rumbled in his head.Dale almost swallowed his toothbrush. He whirled around, spraying toothpaste across the mirror. "Who said that?""I did. Let me introduce myself. Hi, I'm Zander."Dale stared at his reflection, his heart pounding. “Are you speaking from inside… my head?” Juke hadn’t told him to expect anything like this. Was this some…prank? Were the others outside laughing at him? Using this to try and ease his fears. Well, it wasn’t working—it was making things worse. This would be Kirk’s brilliant idea. He patted his pocket and scanned the room for a hidden speaker."N

The pack house had grown quiet, the tension of preparation giving way to an eerie stillness. Dale sat near the fireplace, his eyes fixed on the dancing and flickering flames. The wood beneath crackled, sending tiny ember sparks behind the guard.Juke joined him, sitting close enough for their knees to touch. “You’ve been quiet,” he said, taking Dale’s hand and leaning his head on Dale’s shoulder, breathing in his scent.“I’m scared,” Dale said, his voice hushed. “Not just of Arif, but... of what’s happening to me. What if I can’t control it? What if my being here hurts more people? What happened at the council chamber still haunts me. I don’t want to watch your people suffer because of me. I’m a liability.”Juke’s hold on Dale’s hand tightened his grip firm and grounding. “You’re not a liability, Dale. What happened at the council chambers is all on Arif for coveting what's not his. The blame lies in his greed and selfishness—if it weren’t you, he would have some other reason to do wh

The pack house was loud with voices, each word laced with tension and worry. The air crackled with unease as wolves debated the news of Arif’s movements and Dale’s place within the pack.Juke stood at the head of the room, his arms crossed and his expression stoic. Dale lingered beside him, aware of the side glances and hushed whispers directed his way.Jared raised his hand, his deep voice cutting through the noise. “Enough. We need focus, not this chaos.”The room quieted, though the tension lingered. One wolf stepped forward, his tone cautious but firm. “With all due respect, Jared, Dale’s presence puts us at risk. Arif’s targeting him and, by extension, all of us. Can we afford that danger?”Dale felt a sharp pang in his chest, but Kirk’s voice rang out from the back of the room before he could speak.“Sure, let’s throw Dale out,” Kirk said, sauntering into the center of the room with exaggerated nonchalance. “I’m sure that Arif will call off his wolves and send y’all a fruit bask
