Sophia woke up to the sound of an intense argument in the car as they sped down the lane.
"I think she should go see her mother. That way, her mother can take care of her," Eddie emphasized.
"And have Alan come pick her up again? No way."
"What?" Eddie asked, dumbfounded. "Who said anything about Alan? I won't let him get to her. I promise. I'll tell him to deal with his issues first, and then he can come get her if she wants." Eddie defended himself as he tried to convince Julian.
"Hey, focus on your driving," Julian commanded.
"I'm serious, man."
"She's coming with me," Julian said with finality.
"I'm not so sure about that. She's your friend's woman, and you happen to love her like your own life. If she's in your pack, don't you think sparks might fly?" Eddie asked, concerned.
"Then it'll be his loss," Julian concluded.
"Oh no," Eddie mocked, "I don't want to be part of Alan thrusting a drill sword into your heart. We
SLOANA'S POV Being a werewolf afforded her so many senses, and one of them was going to save her tonight. The intruder in her home must have thought she was stupid to be so relaxed. Though she couldn't scent them out as they had scented her, the night wind was intense and angry. Her curtains blew up in a second, revealing a pair of bloodshot eyes staring deeply at her. Sloana felt all the air escape her lungs. Alan was sitting on the windowsill with a bloody knife in his hand. Sloana felt her blood pressure spike. He would kill her if her plan was exposed. She had to determine how much he knew. She tried to roll out of bed in time, but he was faster, agile in fact. He locked her neck in a death grip. "Where is Sophia?" "She is just a maid who stumbled into your life, and you want to kill me for her?" Sloana screamed, aghast as Alan held her throat tightly while she lay in her bed. She was nearly going pale.
Groaning in extreme pain, Alan woke up to find himself in his old room in the Zang Mansion. He wondered how he got there. He looked around at his childhood pictures hanging all over the room. Julian and Eddie’s pictures as well. The room had practically belonged to the three of them. They laughed and played from dusk till dawn with his mother constantly berating them to clean up the room.Alan closed his eyes forcing out the memories. He didn’t want to remember at all. He did not want to recall those days when his parents were still in his life.It was best if he forgot about them, as he could not imagine how his father must have signed a betrothal contract without his knowledge. The gentle shuffling of feet outside his door made him note that Maska Zang was coming into his room. Not willing to entertain any discussion, Alan pretended as though he were asleep.Maska Zang pushed the door open, chuckling at the sight of him.
MASKA ZANG P.O.VMaska Zang refused to face Alan as they inspected the abandoned site, it was all too gruesome. He had no idea such a place existed in the pack. He had thought the Auction house was their only ill. This means several other illegal businesses still went on in the pack.He knew Alan was just trying to keep his mouth mute throughout the inspection. He could really enjoy himself now by rubbing it in that he and Jocka ruled the Pack badly. Jocka came around after the inspection with Maska Zang giving him a new look. He must be keeping more than a few lies from him.“I think this was a planned work” Alan raised an eyebrow” You think?” obviously not believing a word he said.Jocka ignored his jibe and concentrated on speaking with him. Maska Zang knew he had to be careful with ‘this’ Alan, it was like he changed overnight and became a whole new person entirely. He would find out the cause of the problem himself. He had ignored his nephew for far too long.He turned to his
Alan toyed with the glass of wine in his hands. He had tried so hard not to lose himself and he could feel himself gradually slipping. The bottle of wine in front of him was empty and he toyed with the last glass in his hands. His phone began ringing, he picked it up without bothering to check who it was “What is it? Maska Zang” “Not Maska, it’s Becky” “What do you want?” Alan said he didn’t have the energy to spar on words with Becky. Knowing she would almost go cutthroat with him as regards Sophia’s whereabouts. “You might want to come open the door, Alan. I have something to say to you” “I don’t want to hear it” He shouted and made to cut the call. “Sophia is pregnant.” Alan ended the call and dropped the phone on the table. He went to open the door. He could not believe Becky was also in on deceiving him. They knew she was pregnant all this while and kept it away from him. Becky gasped at the sight of him, not that she was looking great herself, she had just fi
Hating on Becky would not solve the constant bitterness in his heart. She was such a lousy mouth fellow. He knew all of his own faults and his reluctance to stand up to Maska Zang was the whole problem. But he would find a way. He had to. Alan struggled to get up as Sloana slowly came into his vision struggling with her luggage. He blinked his eyes trying to do a double take. “Did you by any chance miss your way?” Alan asked as soon she entered the living room properly. Sloana tilted her hair back, smiling victoriously. “I see no reason why I should not come into your house as the Luna of this pack.” “That is why you have your house. “ Alan deadpanned. He was done with condoling her shitty behaviour. “I don’t feel safe there and people will gossip about me. The rooms here are empty. I will just stay and work as the Luna from here and who knows the sparks could fly between us” She moved closer to him. Alan took a step away from her, and she smiled. Alan noted the smile and tig
SLOANA’S P.O.V Pacing the walls of her room was not going to bring about any solution to her current dilemma. She should have known Rod was going to ask for more after her wedding party disaster. He was such a fool. She would destroy him if he tried to expose her. She had thought she could just use him and dump him but he was proving difficult. Saying he wanted more. But she did not want the likes of him, she liked her men docile and humble, begging as she crushed their pride. But Rod was trying to tame her instead and she would not have that. Damn that Alan for putting her in this position. If he had not played a fast one on her on her wedding night she would not have gone the extra length to put herself in the good graces of the public and Maska Zang by pacifying all of the Alphas that came to the pack. Rod however had been the only one that caught her interest, she had even been the first one to initiate sex. And he was proving difficult to be just a one-time sling A loud kn
“I don’t know why you are so interested in the plantation. Your investing is meaningless, Rod. The plantation is slowly growing back but returns are solely to the Zang family pack and no outside investor is welcomed” Alan tried his best to explain calmly as he stared at the investor certificate Rod was throwing in his face. He hated his guts so badly but he had to be dignified. Maska Zang had wanted him to reject him officially. The smile on Rod’s face was going to be Alan’s undoing. He knew Rod just wanted to mess with him and for the life of him, he didn’t know why? “Perhaps, you can call it charity” Alan felt the insult deep into his gut “Zang Pack does not need your charity.” His eyes going cloudy, he would beat him to a pulp and start the war right there. He could feel the blood running in his veins already. “Are you sure about that? Isn't the plantation your sole source of income?” he slurred Alan tightened his fist “ Zang Pack has other forms of commerce within th
Sophia vigorously brushed her hair, as if removing imaginary strands from her eyes. She knew her words had wounded him, but she needed him to see things from her perspective. It couldn't always revolve around him; he needed to consider her viewpoint as well. Her determination wavered, especially as tears welled up in his eyes. She couldn't believe she had made an Alpha cry. Alan pushed himself away from the table and stood up, looking around with bewilderment. He sniffed and said, "I suppose my love means nothing to you." "No, it doesn't," she replied before she could overthink it. She didn't want to; it pained her too. She could sense Mika snarling at her. The girl's mouth hung open in disbelief. She wouldn't understand, as she hadn't had her dreams torn away from her. She still had her whole life ahead of her, without dealing with a protruding stomach and relying on charity. Alan's unwavering gaze was fixed on her. "Come outside; let's discuss this," he urged, attempting to m
After storming out of the house, Alan had no destination in mind, but Eddie ordered him to a restaurant as feeding his stomach was his main navigator. The wolves they met at the restaurant all greeted Alan warmly, with some even getting bold enough to ask about Sophia and when Alan was bringing her back. Alan replied to them all good-naturedly, though he did not give out Sophia’s condition to anyone. Eddie, however, hurried to a table, ignoring all the leering stares that were directed at him. Alan sat next to him unable to eat, he thanked their teen waitress and gave her a generous tip. The girl smiled happily as she left them.
News of the war had flittered to Julian's pack, and they were not good news. Jordan had arrived earlier and was in a close meeting with Maska Zang. She was not a werewolf and could not hear them and those darn werewolves were good at not being heard if they didn't want it.Using a hand to support her stomach, Sophia left her room and began walking the expanse of the courtyard. She knew Fega had her in her line of sight but the wolf was not seen. She had been focused on something latel
Just to be sure she was not faking it, Alan got close to Sloana and saw she was still breathing, her form changed gradually back to her human form, and in a pool of her blood.Seeing as she was fast fading off, Alan left her there and sat beside her. That was where Jordan found them. Jordan was in his human form and he had a set of clean clothes in his hands for Alan to change into. Alan hesitated to do that until he was sure Sloana was no longer breathing.
Alan wanted the party to be the best, so he lifted the forced lockdown Maska Zang had imposed on the city. Both humans and werewolves were free to roam around. The festive mood further cheered the residents up, including humans. Alan made sure to employ many of them in planning the festival, which had a lot to do with dancing and eating. The Luna Moon Festival celebration took place at night when the moon was out; it was a special night dedicated to the Luna of the pack. This was to recognize her authority and ensure the continual submission to her authority by the pack. The pack wolves were surprised that Alan allowed the festival to take place. Many suspected it was due to the recent murder charge against him, and they were not quiet with their observations, though they were sensible enough not to confront him with it.Alan solved the murder by obtaining the CCTV footage, or whatever was left of it. that Sloana wasnt smart enough to tamper with. Through that, he was able to prove th
Sloana’s POVThings were going wrong. She had thought she had won Alan by at least two shots. But how had things gone so wrong? Hiding in one of her secret cabins in the woods, she refused to back down. Her parents were also with her in the room as she paced the length of the room. She would not back down like this. All her life was in Zang City: her prestige, her honour, her title as the Luna of the pack. She was not giving that up ever.
Fega's P.O.VFega was walking down the staircase when she was suddenly grabbed by one of Maska Zang's guards into an unknown spacious room. She manoeuvred herself out of his hold in no time. She had the Wolf by his throat, ready t
There appeared to be a bustle of activities going on outside her door, but no one had informed her about it. When she asked Fega, she was told to stay out of it as it was none of her business. Now, she couldn't help but feel apprehensive. She had heard Eddie's voice not too long ago, but he did not attempt to come in and talk to her.The door opened to admit Fega, who seemed to be busy doing nothing. Sophia watched her in silence. Fega had never touched the flowers in the room, let alone ar
Maska Zang was furious, seething with anger. Alan had relocated him from the Zang Pack House to their temporary packhouse towards the outskirts of Zang City because they no longer knew who was colluding with Sloana. Maska Zang had searched for the Andas, but they had all vanished, leaving Alan to wonder how their escape had gone unnoticed. Sloana was meticulous, Alan had to give her that. She and Rod were currently untraceable. Maska Zang had deployed the entire guard force to search high and low for both of them. But Alan knew she would surface; he was certain of it. That's why the Luna Moon Festival had to proceed. Sloana was not one to stay away from what she thinks is rightfully hers. He needed to apprehend her personally, and he knew she wouldn't wait for fate to bring her to him; she'd come out on her own. The city had been placed under lockdown on Maska Zang's orders, much to Alan's relief. He didn't want her to hold any area hostage. Despite the ongoing media buzz about him
