Chapter 21
“I WILL SLEEP IN GEOFFREY’S ROOM TONIGHT. I will do so every night until you have someone prepare a separate room for me.” Magnolia’s words were cold and clipped.
“Henry told me—” Daniel started.
“Your Grace, there is no need for you to explain. We have a deal. I will do everything that we have agreed upon, so please, hold your end of the bargain and let us sleep in separate rooms.” Magnolia was calm and emotionless, her eyes seemed lifeless.
Daniel wanted to explain to her that nothing had happened, that he was asking Aurora about the tea party incident and that she threw herself at him. He wanted to assure her that she did not see how he pushed the princess away, but he could see that she was not going to listen to anything he had to say at that moment.

THE WHOLE WAY BACK TO SALICERA, Magnolia’s thoughts were filled with questions about her family, about her origins and where she was from, about her parents and whether she had any siblings. She had been having nightmares from when she was a little child before. She reckoned it was a memory of the accident from her childhood, but it was always chaotic and fuzzy so she could never get any details from her dreams. A FEW DAYS LATER, they took a trip to Hamelsta. Their carriage arrived there at nightfall, so they decided to spend the night at the town’s inn and visit the house the next morning. Magnolia could not sleep all night. When a sliver of light sneaked into the room in early morning, she got up and watched from the window as the light slowly spread through the dark sky. ‘What am I going to discover in that house?’ Magnolia wrapped her arms around her body. FOR THE NEXT FEW DAYS, Magnolia excitedly finished her tasks one by one. From sending out invitations, to finalizing the dinner menu, and deciding on flowers and tableware for the dining table. MAGNOLIA LOOKED AROUND THE DINING TABLE and felt a sense of satisfaction as her guests enjoyed their dinner. Everyone was smiling and conversing. The decoration and service were flawless, the food was delicious, the wine was abundant. It was just the perfect dinner party. Daniel noticed his wife’s high spirits. DANIEL SEARCHED MAGNOLIA’S EYES FOR A MOMENT. Her words shocked him and made every restraint he had been putting on himself break. “Are you sure?” he finally asked. “Unless you do not want to,” Magnolia said with a smaller voice, wrapping her arms around herself. Daniel took two strides and closed the distance between them. He took her face in his hands and looked deep into her gray pools. “Do you know how much strength it took me to not touch you the way I wanted to?” He kissed her gently. “I love you,” he whispered against her lips. Paula really took a liking to him, so they were sitting next to each other, like it had been for every meal since they met. Geoffrey liked her too, she answered every single one of his curious questions. Even Magnolia got tired of them sometimes, but Paula did not.
