Damon's eyes widened. "Are you sure?" he asked again.

"I am. There's no better time than now. I can see it... I can see that..." I stopped talking, not because I didn't think Damon would understand, but because I didn't know how best to explain what I could see. Cassandra would try something else, just as Frederick had told me. If I show up, if I take my place, Cassandra will come out.

Like I told you, she's going to throw a tantrum, especially when I tell her that I'm taking my name from her. Especially when I tell her that there cannot be two Montenegros on the same council. One family cannot be represented twice; it's against our code.

Damon looked deep in thought. At this point, I was beginning to feel as though I was provoking too much of it, but there was no better way.

"Walk me through this plan," he said finally.

"I don't have one," I said. "I was hoping you would be the one to do it," I added with a smile, knowing that I had him.

"Let's call Julio," Damon said
