Chapter 1

I wake up with an alarm sound; I hate Mondays; why aren't weekends simply four days long? I drag myself out of bed, dreading the long work week ahead. The thought of sitting in traffic and dealing with annoying coworkers already has me feeling stressed. As I trudge to the kitchen to make some coffee, I can't help but wish for a world where weekends never seem to end.

I sat in my car and went to my office to begin my work day. I work for a business magazine. that covers the latest trends and developments in the industry. My work is to do an interview with some business tycoons to uncover the truth behind their success stories. and reveal their dirty secrets, all while maintaining a professional demeanor. As I parked my car and made my way to the office building,. It was always a thrill to delve into the lives of successful entrepreneurs and uncover the real stories behind their achievements. Today was no different, and I was ready to dig deep and get to the bottom of what truly made these business tycoons tick.

But my boss, Mrs. Kim Su-Yeon, is not happy today, and I know why. She gave me a task that was assigned to me last month, and guess what? I freaking failed it. I was told that I needed to do an interview with the CEO of New York’s largest firm Rafael King, but I couldn't get his appointment. I know what's coming; she'll reprimand me, and I'm ready for it.

As I entered Mrs. Kim's office, I could feel the tension in the air. She sat behind her desk, her expression stern and unyielding. I took a deep breath and prepared myself for the inevitable scolding. "Sit down," she commanded, her voice sharp and unforgiving. I lowered myself into the chair opposite her, bracing myself for what was to come. "You were given a simple task, and you failed to deliver," she began, her eyes piercing into mine. "Do you have any excuse for your incompetence?" I hung my head in shame, knowing that I had let her down and jeopardized my reputation in the process.

“I'm sorry, boss, but I tried hard to get his appointment, but his secretary always said he's busy and doesn't have time for an interview.”

"I understand that you faced obstacles, but that is no excuse for not achieving your goal," she replied sternly. "In this industry, persistence and resourcefulness are key qualities, and it seems you lacked both in this situation." I felt a sinking feeling in my stomach,

“Listen, he is one of America’s most powerful businessmen, and everyone wants to know more about him. He is like a closed door. I heard Rafael King had a tie with the mafia, but no one knows anything about him. This interview will be crucial for our magazine, and I'm giving you one final chance.”

“I will try my level best boss; just give me some time, and I'll try to fix an appointment with him as soon as possible.”

“There is no need to fix an appointment; he is never going to meet you in this way. You have to find a different approach to get in touch with him.”

“How is this possible, boss? I barely know him, and we even don't know where he is living. It seems impossible to contact him without more information.”

She handed me an airline ticket, and I glanced at it in confusion.

“He is currently in Paris; go there and find a chance to meet with him and convince him to grant you an interview.”

“But how will I approach him?”

“That is not my problem. Evelyn Rogers, it's your job to go find your way on your own and don't arrive without his interview. If you fail this time, get ready to lose your job.”

I felt a wave of panic wash over me as I realized the daunting task that lay ahead. How was I supposed to track down a man I barely knew in a city as vast as Paris? My mind raced with possibilities, but ultimately, I knew I had no choice but to figure it out on my own. The pressure was on, and failure was not an option if I wanted to keep my job. With a deep breath, I made a plan to head to Paris and find a way to approach him, no matter what it took.

I grab that ticket and leave her cabin.
