Resting my head against his chest, I listened to the steady rhythm of his heartbeat. The morning sunlight filtered through the curtains. My finger traced invisible circles on his skin, his hard-muscled body adorned beautifully with tattoos.

We had been talking, and I asked him what he was like as a boy. At first, he refused to tell me, laughing it off and saying to forget about it. But I playfully pestered him until he finally gave in.

"I was really good at school," he began, his eyes distant as he recalled the past. "I was valedictorian, actually. School was a piece of cake for me. Then I went on to business school—it's kind of a tradition for Costello men. We have to keep up appearances, maybe even more than others." He paused, his expression darkening slightly as if remembering something, "It wasn’t just about education; it was about maintaining the family legacy."
