Alessia with no destination in mind, decided to head to the club where Grace worked. At this point, she needed all the help she could get. Her nanny job barely gave her enough money to even think of saving.
The only person who could lend her a hand right now was Grace. Without a phone, the only choice was to pay her a visit to her workplace. She found herself standing in front of the massive building, "Devil's Den," its name etched boldly as the bright lights bathed the area. She dragged in deep ragged breaths from running a lot and made her way into the place. Her clothes were in order, but she was barefooted and her red hair was messy. The guards at the entrance stared at her for a brief second as she walked past them into the place. They didn't say or do anything to stop her. The place was open to anyone who wanted their souls tainted. If someone chooses Hell instead of Heaven, not even God would intervene as he would just sit still while watching the poor deluded soul. So, who were they to try and stop her? Alessia strutted forward into the busy place filled with noises from drunk men who watched the strippers on stage. She glanced around in search of Grace, completely forgetting that Grace stayed at the counter. Because of the way she was dressed, some men couldn't stop ogling her body. Some had lust written all over their faces as they watched her stroll further in and towards the counter this time. She pushed through the busy crowd and successfully made her way to the counter. Instead of Grace, someone else was occupying the counter area. A frown appeared on her face as she watched the newbie. "Hello, welcome to Devil's Den, what would you like to have?" The person said first with a small smile as he watched her. Alessia blinked and shook her head, telling him she wanted nothing. "Where is Grace? Grace Franco." She asked instead. The man's lips formed an O as he realized she wasn't there for a drink. "Gracino was shifted to Devil's Den branch 2 at Big City Sicily." His accent was super thick, but not so difficult for Alessia to understand. "Oh..." She drawled as she realized that Grace left without informing her. She clenched her fist in annoyance, cursing the girl in her heart for being that wicked. Everything seemed to have been going wrong for her today. First, her jerk of an uncle was actually perverted, and then Grace decided to leave without informing her. Out of annoyance, she glanced at the bartender again, flipping her red hair to the back as she dragged in a deep breath. "Give me all of your strongest drink." She said with uttermost confidence, knowing fully she came without money. The Bartender's eyes lit up as this was the opportunity he had been waiting for. He nodded his head and ran off to do as she requested. Even though she didn't want to resort to drinking, she needed to forget what just happened. The bartender returned in no time and served her almost one of every lady's soft drinks before the hard ones. Without wasting time, she latched herself onto the stool and began gulping down the contents in the shots. Being a newbie to these things, she sipped at first, then gulped down the rest. The bartender moved from where he stood watching her and went to attend to others at the other end. Alessia didn't care about anything anymore as she made up her mind to drown her sorrows with the drinks. All the while she sat there drinking and sipping, doing everything she could to avoid the burning sensation that assaulted her each time she gulped the content down, she didn't notice a figure sitting beside her as he sipped his wine casually. Alessia imagined the drink to be Simone's blood and she chucked it down at once. "Zio, I hope you die." She muttered and gulped another down. In no time, she finished up the bottle of drinks the bartender had brought her and felt light-headed. The drinks' effect kicked in as she burped softly. Just then, she finally realized that someone was watching her. The hairs on her body stood up as she slowly but dramatically turned her head to the side. She locked eyes with a mesmerizing pair of gray orbs, which gazed back at her with a hint of amusement on his face. His appearance could rival even the gods of Calabria, and he effortlessly commanded the color black. It was as if he was born to wear it, or maybe black was created exclusively for him. His veiny hands were holding onto the glass in his hand as a dirty image of him wrapping those hands around her neck while fucking the living daylight out of her, flashed in her mind. She couldn't help but shiver, shaking her head to banish that disturbing thought from her mind. This guy staring back at her was absolutely stunning, and any woman who had his children would be incredibly fortunate. For example, her eggs were already crying in anticipation! A thought crossed her mind as she held his gaze with hers, not even knowing where the confidence came from. She really needed to drink more often to get this kind of wit. The man was a dangerous man, no doubt, but surprisingly, she wasn't afraid of him. The image of her uncle trying to take advantage of her flashed in her hazy mind again, but this time, something funny followed. Instead of her uncle, the image was replaced with the man sitting before her. She blinked in shock and averted her gaze instantly. Was this a sign? A sign for her to ask the man out even if she was only meeting him for the first time? "Hello, Handsome." A woman from nowhere came forward to the man who still had his eyes fixed on her. The woman boldly trailed her hand along his white dress shirt as she leaned in to whisper something to him. For some odd reason, Alessia felt anger bubble up in her as she glared at the hand that was touching the godly-looking man. "Do you mind a one-night thing with me?" "No, he is already taken!" Alessia suddenly voiced out, surprising both herself and the man. She climbed off the stool and walked forward to the woman. "Missy, hands off, he is already taken for the night. Right?" She asked and turned to him for an answer. He still had an amused smile on his face as he nodded. "Right." His voice was surprisingly deeper than she expected. Alessia in her drunken state watched as the woman huffed and walked out while murmuring curse words at Alessia. Alessia turned to the man who she had successfully won over and without shying away, plus with the help of the alcohol, leaned in to whisper something to him. "Mr... You smell so nice, I want you to fuck me."The next day, Grace arrived at the airport, ready to board the plane to her dream country.Everything she ever dreamed of was coming true, although it looked like everything was falling apart at first, it eventually came together.Standing at the airport gates and clutching her ticket tightly, she couldn’t help but look back over her shoulder. Sicily had been her home, the place where she had laughed, cried and grown. Her heart swelled with a mix of nostalgia and excitement as memories washed over her: moments of laughter with Alessia, sneaking out on wild journies, quiet nights where she and Dante would talk and cuddle until dawn. She had always dreamed of seeing the world, but leaving this life wasn’t easy. Yet, knowing that her best friend was now happy, married, and building a family of her own made it feel right. She had her dreams to chase, after all.Taking a deep breath, she turned to face the gate, trying to push aside the ache in her heart. Just as she took a step forward,
Grace was so excited that she couldn’t stop rambling on and on as she picked out the perfect wedding dress for her dear Alessia. A proud smile crossed Alessia’s face as she watched her best friend getting so excited about her wedding. She was surprised when Grace told her that Dante had also proposed to her. But Grace being Grace had rejected the proposal. To her, she wanted to go to school first.“Do you have to go to school?” Alessia asked as she glared at Grace who wouldn’t stop grinning. “Ali, we’ve talked about this before. You know I’ve always wanted to go to school in the US. Besides, it’s just 4 years.” She said and pouted.“But I don’t want you to leave,” Alessia pouted also.Grace teared up, moving to hug her friend. “Sorry my baby,” she muttered. “But if you’re happy for me, you’ll wish me well instead of crying.” Grace poked, earning a jab from Alessia. The manager of the mall watched them with a smile, wondering how these two managed to push through life to this day. A month later, Salvatore walked into Devil's Den to find Marco who had invited him there. When he arrived, he met with Selena waiting for him by the corner. “Welcome, please come with me." She said, knowing he was Marco's guest. Salvatore watched her face for a while and nodded. He followed her as they both got into the elevator and went up to the second floor. Ever since Marco and Salvatore made up, they rekindled their previous friendship. They would often drink and go for meetings together, it made Dante feel betrayed, but of course, they never left him behind. When Selena and Salvatore arrived at the top floor where the supposed Marco was supposed to be waiting for him, he found the place empty.“Where is he?" He asked as he sat on one of the couches in the room.“I presume he is on his way," Selena said robotically. Salvatore smirked, baffled by how she took this mafia work even more seriously than the men.He wondered if she ever smiled in her life considering she was always
When Salvatore walked in fully, everyone including Alessia excused themselves to give the two some privacy. Now left alone in the hospital room, Marco smirked and said, “So it's you? You're that one stubborn mercenary." “That's a wonderful way to apologize, Marco," Salvatore said, moving to sit on the chair by the hospital bed.Marco's brow creased in confusion, “Apologize? For what?" He asked.“Please don't act like you don't know the reason we drifted apart." The smile on Tore’s face disappeared, replaced by a serious look.Seriously, Marco didn't understand what he was talking about. “I still don't get you. We drifted apart because your father hated my family." “Are you kidding me? We were friends even after the rift began. That wasn't the reason." Salvatore reminded him, this time he could feel his anger building up in him.Marco stayed silent, trying to recall what exactly had transpired between them in the past. The only thing he remembered was that Salvatore had a girlfriend…
It took Marco two days to finally wake up. When he did, he felt a bit strange. This time, the thing on his face had been removed and his right there was someone else face.Alessia sat beside him, or more like lay beside him on the bed, her dark circles visible and a sign that she hadn't slept well in a while.Marco smiled, then reached out a hand to pat her hair. What happened when he was asleep and how long it had been? When Alessia felt a hand on her hair, she immediately opened her eyes. Her eyes met his and a surprised look consumed her face. “Marco?" She asked carefully, trying to make sure she wasn't hallucinating again.“Mia Cara." He muttered to convince her that she wasn't seeing things.Alessia jerked up instantly and called his name again. “Marco?" “You aren't hallucinating, Baby." Marco chuckled. And before he could guess her next move, she threw herself at him and hugged him tightly.“Oh my goodness! You're awake! You're finally awake!"Alessia pulled away slightly, her
Alessia stared at Marcel and Salvatore, especially Dante. She was confused as to why their faces looked so worried. “Alessia…” Delilah’s voice called from the side. Alessia turned to see who the voice belonged to. Of course she knew that familiar voice. When she saw Delilah, her eyes widened in shock. "Delilah? You're here?” She asked, unknowingly walking over to Delilah. Delilah smiled through the tears coming out of her eyes and immediately hugged Alessia. "It's so good to see you again, Alessia.” She muttered, patting her back.Alessia pulled away from her and smiled thinly. “Why are you crying? Did you miss me that much?" She teased, wanting to make the old lady smile.Delilah chuckled, wiping her tears. “Yes." She said, though it was a lie. She missed Alessia, but she was more concerned about Alessia's reaction if she saw the current Marco.Alessia was confused by the worried faces of everyone. Wasn't getting Marco out a good thing? Why did they all look sad?“What happened?" S
