Maeve POVIt’s been two weeks since I found out about Selene. These past few weeks have been very boring for me. I sleep, eat, and repeat. Ario has been very busy trying to train the warriors, and I am usually with Maya most times. She introduced me to her pup, Lana, and she is a bubbly little thing. I can’t wait to carry my pup in my hand. I see how Maya looks at her, and I want the same for myself. Talking about Ario, he has been busy but always followed me for doctor's appointments; the pup is growing healthy; I am healthy, and now I can’t even hide my pregnancy again. My stomach grew overnight, and it’s so noticeable now.I have been getting a lot of stares. People are curious about our relationship because all they know is that I am the gamma of their pack, and it’s unusual for the alpha and gamma to have any pups together or even a mate. I am not bothered, though; when Ario is ready, he will address it.“How far is it?” I asked Maya. This pup is really stressing on me; I feel tir
Maeve POVI looked at Ario as he came out of the bathroom in his towel. His hair was wet, his lips a dark pink, but a frown sat on his handsome face as he glared at me.“You look cute when you are angry,” I said, smiling widely. He growled at me as I entered the closet. A few seconds later, he came out wearing black joggers with the band of his boxers out. He sighed, coming to me and carrying the tray off my lips, then he left again. I chuckled, laying down. He is mad at me for acting recklessly today. He has been mad at me and growling at me since, but I find his anger cute because, what can I say, he is still doing what he will normally do. Bathe me and feed me; he is just being a baby. I thought, covering my body. The door opened, and he came inside, heading to the bed. He didn’t talk to me; he just laid down, ignoring me. I chuckled, moving close to him. I run my hand down his broad chest, my head on his arm.“Ario,” I called, my voice low, but he ignored me. I smiled, kissing his
Maeve POV“We are here,” Ario said, looking outside the car window. I looked outside, and everything was in ruins. The door opened, and Ario came down, helping me down. I took a deep breath as my feet touched the ground, and I didn’t get any familiar scents. My heart ached as I looked at the pack grounds. This used to be a bubbly place, with pups running around, parents taking a stroll or just going about their day, the beautiful houses—they are all gone. Now the air smells like death; the once-fine buildings have collapsed; some don’t have any roofs. I sighed, holding my tears. This is really just so sad.“Should I tell the warriors to excuse us?” Ario asked in the link, holding my hand.“No, let’s walk around,” I mind link, walking forward, and he followed me quietly. I know this land perfectly; I have lived here all my life, so even if everything is in ruins or if there are enormous stones in the areas, I know where everything was. The pack house, the arena, the supermarket, the bou
Ario POVI stood by the wall, looking at everyone as they had gloomy faces and most of them were crying with Maeve, who was whimpering. There are two things I noticed on getting here: 1 was how much they loved their alpha, they respect him, cherished him and how they missed him. Alpha Harold was a strong-willed man, he was a great alpha, and he definitely earned my respect, he was there alpha and he loved everyone, treated them right and put them above himself, he was fearless and he died as a warrior; he protected his pack, and that’s why he deserved all the love. Another thing I noticed is how they love each other. They are an actual family, strong together and vulnerable together. Eve never liked crying in front of anyone. She held her tears while she was with me and cried in the room alone. Sometimes she looked on the verge of crying, her eyes watering and her jaws locked but she never cries, but here she is crying openly. She didn’t hold back her tears, and she didn’t need to.
Ario POVIt has been a half an hour, and I haven’t gotten tired of watching the wolves. I was mesmerised; I was impressed, and I couldn’t just stop staring at them. They played together, colliding into one another playfully. With the howl in the air, the teenagers were doing really silly things. One male wolf jumped on another male wolf playfully, and he growled at him. Then another male wolf came, bowing for the other wolf he jumped on, and I could tell that was his father. But it all ended in loud wolf laughter as he licked his father’s face, running away. The men laughed together, running after him, and I was just so happy. It really takes a village to raise a child, and that’s what they are doing.“You’ve been watching them for some time now,” I heard a deep voice say, breaking me out of my thoughts. I moved away from the window, looking at Alaric.“They are really fun to look at,” I said, smiling at Eve. Her father did a fantastic job.“How would your pack take this?” he asked.“T
Maeve POVArio helped me down the car as I held my stomach. I slept off in the car, listening to his heartbeat. Today is the best day of my life since that awful night. My pack was alive, and Ario told me he loved me. I wanted to jump and scream in happiness. I have been smiling nonstop, and I am trying to control it, but I can’t. It all seemed like a dream, a dream I didn’t want to wake up from.“Wow,” I said, looking up. This is the biggest pack house I can ever lay my eyes on. Words can’t describe how big it is; the building was tall and incredibly wide. I could see the big gate from where we stood, with high walls going around it.“You outdid yourself,” I said, looking at Ario. He smiled, looking back.“Is everyone ready?” he asked the warriors.“Yes, alpha,” he replied.“Okay, let’s go,” he said, taking my hand, and we walked down the road. I looked back, and I saw my pack dressed. I looked at Ario.“You must have spent a lot on those new clothes, and they will need more clothing,
Maeve POV It was around 11 p.m, and everyone was fully settled. There was not much furniture, but Ario already mind link the guards to get bedsheets, thick mattresses, pillows, and clothes for everyone. He didn’t even know if we had any money on us, but he decided to spend so much on my pack. I feel so happy he was that considerate. He even got the omegas to get them different varieties of foods, and they came in large quantities. Now everyone has retired to their rooms, and the once loud pack house is quiet. “I can’t imagine how loud this place would be after everyone fully moves in,” Brandon said as we climbed the stairs, following Ario. We have all freshened up, and Ario is taking us to the study. “Why are we taking stairs when there is an elevator?” Duncan asked. “The study is on the next floor; there is no need to,” Ario said, and Duncan shrugged his shoulders. We got to the floor, and there was an enormous door. The door looks impenetrable. “Why so thick?” I asked, curious.
Unknown POV“Shit!” Jasper yelled as the laptop shut down. The room was silent as they watched him boil with anger.“That little bitch!” he yelled, beating the table in anger. It was midnight, and they were about to extort from Ario. This was supposed to be the last time because they wanted to take all the money. They knew since Maeve was there, they would know what a talented hacker she was; they didn’t know it would be this early.“Which account was it transferred to?” he asked, sweat filling his head.“It is an anonymous account, and there are no other systems connected to theirs because we couldn’t track it,” the hacker said, turning to look at the fuming Jasper. He had warned him to take all the money before they found a better hacker, but he wanted to play mind games with Ario, he is not at all surprised this happened should have just taken everything the first time now they are left with nothing but an empty bank account.“She took all my money! Now we have no money! No funds to
Maeve POVHow long has it been? About 30 years later? I lost count, honestly. These long years have been filled with a lot of adventure, but surely a lot of things have changed. Pa found a fae woman, and they fell in love. It was hard for Duncan and Brandon to see their father move on, but after a little speech, they accepted. The Fae woman Angela was pregnant two years after they got married; they also didn’t take it well, but I convinced them this was their new life; they are immortals now, and of course Pa is not going to get married for years without having a kid. Long story short, Pa has five beautiful children with Angela, and Duncan and Brandon are the sweetest elder brothers to them.Duncan and Leah are still together, and they are still having more children. Ten years after Brandon got over Mason, he found love again, and this time it was a woman. She was actually his friend for a long time; she was helping him move on and being a mother figure in the twins’ lives, and along
Maeve POV“Damn!” Arthur yelled, totally invested in the game. The game has passed an hour, and none of them is half way yet.“Otto, what did you do?” Arthur asked, not removing his eyes from the game.“Made it harder,” he said, sitting down calmly.“Your son is going to be a wicked king,” Arthur said, and I chuckled. The game is getting harder and more complicated. The clues are hard to find, and if they find them to crack, it is difficult. Plus, the demons that jumped at them out of nowhere almost killed Bryan. Otto made the demons attacking very strong, then the humans attacking used their powers against them, and they have none. The game is extremely hard. Kennet went back to the starting line without his flag; blood was all over him.“Out!” Arthur yelled. Kenneth growled. Well, he lost his flag, so he is out of the game. He walked over to us, shaking his head while breathing out.“Isn’t this too much?” He asked, taking his seat. A guard handed him a bottle of water.“No, it’s per
Maeve POV“Do you think we are babies?” Bryant asked, glaring at us. It was the next day, and we were with the pillars. We told them about the plan, and I don’t know if they are talking about it well.“You have no choice; who is going to be the leader?” Ario asked. They all looked at each other.“We know you all are not on good terms, fighting each other over the position,” I said.“Still, you have no right to tell us what to do,” Kate said, glaring at me. I know she is not a big fan of my mother and me. She especially doesn’t like her; I remember her telling me Kate never really spoke to her and frowned at everything she did. She was supposed to be the leader, but mother was more powerful than her.“I have every right to tell you, Kate. My mother was the leader; I am her daughter, more powerful than you can ever be,” I snapped at her. She rolled her eyes.“Of course you are powerful; after your mother gave you the title, you didn’t deserve them,” she spat. I smiled at her.“You know
Maeve POVThe thunder and lightning crashed as the rain fell heavily. It was like the rain could tell my mood and how sad and devastated I was. When the demon king told me I had to kill my father, I knew it was a debate. There was no way I would kill him; there was no way I would look at the man who loved me so much and stab him. The look of betrayal would have killed me, torn me to tiny shreds; it would hunt me day and night. The plan was to get everyone to safety. I wanted everyone to be happy. I didn’t want any deaths on my plate, except for Jane, because I was ready to kill her at any moment. But as I stared at their opened coffins, laying side by side, it was very heartbreaking for me. Father has always wanted her by his side, so it’s only fair I bury them together, even though she isn’t worth it.“It’s time to close up the grave,” Ario said, his arms around my shoulders.“Wait,” I said, looking at my father’s face one last time. Of course, the rain is not touching them. They
Maeve POV“Yes, it was all an illusion. Attacking the villages, stealing crops, and attacking the military zone was all an illusion Otto created,” I said. And I could tell they were all catching up now. “What did you tell me the day you got married to chaos?” he asked.“First, I didn’t get married to him. It was me getting married, but it wasn’t me; it was a woman he was in love with. We both did it for our father, but we didn’t actually get married. That night I told you I simply loved you,” I said, smiling cheekily. He looked at me, shocked.“I thought you told me something very important,” he said.“It was important,” I said, offended.“So why couldn’t I remember?” I asked.“Because I wanted you to be curious. You sought answers and led me to Selene,” I said.“What?” he asked.“I knew Selene was alive; that was not her I killed. It was way too easy the way she died, but I didn’t know how to track her. But I knew she was watching you, so I made you search for answers, and I tracked
Maeve POVI stood, looking at her dead body. She was truly dead, and I don’t know how I feel. Happy she is gone or sad because she was still the woman who gave birth to me. I looked at George.“How do you feel?” I asked, my voice hoarse. He blinked. We were the only ones in the room.“Lost,” he said, looking at her. She slit her own throat. She is a coward. I sighed.“I’m sorry you lived a lonely life because of her decisions,” I said. He looked at me.“Why are you apologizing? It wasn’t any of your fault she chose to abandon me,” he said. Who would have thought we were truly related? I never thought about it once, but I saw him as my little brother. When I met him, he was so young, lost, and innocent. I grew a soft spot for him as he stared at me innocently with his doe eyes. He was cute.“I wish you met your father; he would have loved you,” I said, chuckling. Father has a spot for people like George who are naughty, playful, and powerful; they would have gone along so well.“He see
Ario POVI came outside of our room, heading to the living room. Everyone was here except Jane.“How is she?” Pa asked.“She keeps murmuring father in her sleep,” I said, collapsing on the couch.“She really loves her father,” he said, sitting beside me. I sighed.“I don’t blame her. All her life was a mess. Harold was the only one who cared for her and was there like a father, but he was not her true father. But Aelle is her father; she shares his blood, and he loves her. She must have planned something for this war; Aelle dying was not the plan,” I said. Everyone went quiet.“But why did Aelle take that sword? Jane obviously wronged him but still died for her,” Brandon said. I kept quiet, processing it.“He couldn’t stand watching his daughter kill her mother, the woman he loves,” I said.“It’s too sad,” Odin said, and I agreed with him. We all remained quiet in our thoughts. A lot happened today. After Aelle died, the remaining warriors retreated, running away. We didn’t lose many
Third Person POVWar covered the palace of Cassia kingdom as men fought against each other, slaying each other's head. The war just started and right now king Aelle was at the losing side as the warriors of cassia charged at them fiercely. It was like they just finished taking a lot of sugar, as their strength and energy can’t be compared to none. They were slaying king Aelle men like today’s bread.“Do not retreat!” king Aelle yelled from his horse. Shouting at the men. He was surprised. He thought they would be resting by now, too weak to fight, but it looks like they have not even trained today. His men were dying.“Archers, get ready,” he said, raising his hand. The archers point their bow, raised high in the sky.“Shoot!” he yelled. They all shot, and the arrows flew but they stopped mid air as a man appeared. He smiled at Aelle, his hand raised. He was holding the arrows.“Hello Aelle, my name is George and surprisingly you are my stepfather,” he said, smiling at him. Aelle look
Ario POVWe stood in front of the palace. Although we broke it down, we didn’t reconstruct it; we left it like that. But we didn’t break the palace to pieces; someone can still live inside.“Let’s go in,” I said, climbing a rock. Will Selene really stay here? Well, this is the only place in the kingdom she could possibly hide.“Take the left,” I said to the guards, and they bowed. Now it was just Brandon and me. We walked around, trying to get a scent or anything.“Do you really think she will be here?” he asked.“That is what Mabel said; she should be here or she left after finding out, we know,” I said. He sighed.“We really can’t get rid of her,” he said. Well, we all thought she was dead, so I understand him.“But what happens if she is here?” he asked.“Capture her before she causes more trouble,” I said. He scoffed.“Selene is not that easy to capture; she is powerful,” he said. I rolled my eyes.“She is powerful, but I am more powerful, and I have you,” I said. He chuckled.“I
