Briar,

Have lunch with me? Meet me in the parking lot by your truck. -A

Who the hell is A? She didn’t know anyone here with the initial A…wait! Could it be Artemis? This was insane. Deciding it was probably a set up to get her and Alyssa to duke it out, she sighed and shut her locker.

What no one here knew about Bri was, she could fight. Her father wanted her to be able to take care of herself if a guy tried anything with her.

Glad she brought her sunglasses, pulling them down, it was snowing and sunny, as soon as she walked out the doors, she was reminded her she wasn’t in Seattle anymore.

“Hey, Bri!” a tall, red haired girl with flawless makeup and a trendy outfit on ran up to her.

“Who might you be?” Bri asked.

“I’m Yuri Marx. I’m in your music theory class. I know you’re from the Seattle Symphony, and that is my dream to play on that stage. Would you have time to, I don’t know, tutor me, or even a few tricks you might have?” Yuri blushed.

Briar was stunned. “I can do that.

It should take Artemis about 15 minutes to fly his BMW down here, so Rei hoped he could hold their interest till then. Staying on Briar’s truck, playing cat and mouse with the driver. Sure enough, 15 minutes later, Artemis pulled right in front of Briar’s truck. Seeing Artemis slow traffic behind him allowed Rei to sneak up behind the truck, the driver focused on Artie’s car. When people saw that they were slowing down, they turned down other streets. Leaving just Artemis, the truck, and 3 other cars in front of Rei. “Artemis, what are you doing? We don’t know who is in there.” Rei yelled into his phone. “Calm down, brother. Turn right at the next intersection, I’ll stay in front. 'See you shortly'.” Artemis gave Rei the code, meaning he was going to be the bait, leaving Rei to give chase. “Here we go.” Rei turned down the road Artemis told him to, parked his Jeep and ran on foot until he was behind a building. Dove burst forth from Rei, running in the direction of his brother. L

“Briar KingBear, this your mother. If you don’t call me back, I’m sending the police to track you down. Now is not the time to ignore me!” Noni yelled into her phone. She was dreading the call she had to make next.“Noni? What’s,” Kyle started, but Noni cut him off. “Briar hasn’t come home yet. I don’t want to over react, but this is how it always begins. Better start looking for a new city for us now. I think they found her.” Noni said clearly frustrated. “Don’t panic, Noni. Bri can take care of herself. I made sure of that.” Kyle said, trying to reassure her. “Could she have just gone out with some people from classes?” Kyle suggested. “That’s what I was thinking, but she hasn’t been answering her texts or calls, not even Rina has heard from her since this morning.” Noni said. “Just call the police station and give them her truck description, the dealer’s plates are still on her truck, so law enforcement shouldn’t have too hard of time recognizing it. They will call me if they f

When Briar came to, she was in a dark, cold room. She could feel something heavy around her wrists, making her unable to move very far. As her eyes adjusted to the darkness, she saw a figure standing motionless in the corner, shrouded by shadows. “Hello? Who are you? Why am I here?” Bri asked the figure. Receiving no answer, she yelled hoping for different results. “You are definitely your father’s child. When you emerge, you will be lethal. With the right training, that is. Keep quiet in here, A doesn’t like to be disturbed.” The figure ducked out of the room. “Who is A? Tell me, please?” Briar screamed. She didn’t understand anything the figure was talking about. Emerge? She knew what the word meant, she just couldn’t figure out how it applied to her.Not knowing how much time had passed from when the figure left, to the time she heard footsteps approaching the door to the room she was in. Before the person opened the door, Bri crawled into the darkest corner of the room, prepari

Briar sat up, rubbing her eyes, pissed at herself for falling asleep. She had no idea how long she has been in that room, but she was getting tired of being there. “Is anyone there? I am hungry and I have to pee!” She screamed. With no answer, Briar stood up, careful of her chains, and started slamming her foot on one of the walls. “You can't keep ignoring me! I am a human, with rights! Ahhhhh!” She screamed. Slumping back to the floor, Bri rested her head on the wall behind her. When she closed her eyes, a scene flashed in her mind of a beautiful wolf with golden fur running through a clearing, with a big, black and red colored wolf hot on her tail. The golden wolf was fast, trails of fire streaked behind it. Halfway across the clearing, the golden wolf skid to a stop, the fire surrounding her, a barrier against threats. It was meant to stop the other wolf from advancing on her, but as the black and red wolf got closer, the fire around the gold wolf started to die down, finally t

“Are you alright, son?” Kyle and Rei ran over to Artemis, while the others went in search of the Wolf that howled. Rei looked at Artemis, “Who was that? Did you see?” Rei asked. “No. I have never come across its scent before tonight. Father is right, there is a new player in town. Kyle, do you recognize the scent?” He asked. “I thought I recognized the howl, but I don’t know for sure.” Kyle sighed. “Tris and Nico are out there. They may have seen who it was and given chase.” Artemis said. “Rico and Shae are out there as well. They are my best tracker and seeker.” Kyle said. “If they meet up with Nico and Tris, the four of them won’t kill each other, will they?” Noni asked. “No. They know your husband and his wolves are here, helping. There will be no quarrels.” Rei said, walking towards the house. The rest of them followed in silence. Once inside, Rei sat at the dining room table, receding into his mind where he could speak with Dove, his inner wolf. Artemis stood watch over h

“Does he really believe he can corrupt the Light Bringer? If he thinks that he is sorely mistaken. I haven’t felt power like hers since the last time she was awake. Why now? She is almost ready to emerge as it is, he’s insane.” Misha argued. “Misha, all you have to do is smile, have a little compassion, and pretend to be someone she can open up and talk to. Yes, she is Kitsune, but first and foremost, Briar is a girl. Girl’s talk, don’t they? There are things A needs to know to further his hold on Kitsune, and I’m not the talking type.” Troy barked. “Why did you offer me up for this, Troy? I hate that rat for what she did to our mother.” Misha growled at him. “Let it go, sister. It is a new Era, and she was weak, Misha. Kitsune gave our mother the chance to walk away, but she stood her ground and that’s where she fell. Our father should have been the one to take Kitsune on, not our mother.” Troy said. “I was right there. I saw how it was. Mom said no to Kitsune once, and the bitch

Arriving back at the KingBear house Dove and Artemis walked through the door and straight into wolf war 3! “You have got to be kidding me! I will not step back from this because you man children think you have it all under control! You’re not leaving me behind this time.” Noni was arguing with Kyle and the rest. “Woah, simmer everyone! We aren’t getting anywhere fighting like this. Dove has something he needs to tell you.” Artemis nodded at him. “Before we left to come back here Artie and I felt the static of Kitsune pushing outward, trying to catch a wolf mind that would listen. Soon after that we felt a tremor.” Dove explained. “The reason we couldn’t track who took her down is because they are underground.” Artemis concluded. “I may know where they are.” Rico said. “Kyle, do you have a map?” “Yeah, Noni, where did you put my atlas?” Kyle asked. “Be right back.” Noni went off in search for the map. “All of you listen to me closely. We are going out to get Briar back tonight.

Hot on Dove’s heels, Artemis intended on getting to the bottom of his brother’s attitude problem and his father’s secrets. “Dove, stop!” Stryxx’s voice surfaced. “We need to talk. Will you hear me?” “Of coarse. I always have time for our little sisterly talks.” Dove rolled his eyes. As soon as Dove turned, Stryxx, fully released, knocked him to the ground with Stryxx’s huge wolf paw pinning him there. “Let me up. You don’t want what’s on my B side, trust me, brother.” Dove growled, shaking in rage. “You will calm down so we can speak like civilized men. We are not monsters, brother.” Stryxx shouted. “Maybe not, but we’re are little better than animals. We lie, cheat, wage wars, and force our own wolves to fight their brothers and sisters for what? Power? The biggest, baddest Wolfpack? It’s criminal what we put ourselves through.” Dove went completely still and Stryxx pulled him to his feet. “I never knew you felt this way. Rei has rubbed off on you, in a good way.” Stryxx smiled,

“What the hell do you think you’re doing? Back away now. Briar is mine now.” Troy growled, pulling Briar behind him. “Are you really that stupid to believe you could mean anything to Briar? Let her emerge and decide who she chooses herself, no amulets, nothing to give either of us an advantage, just good old fashioned Nature decides?” Rei offered. “That sounds fair to me. I’m going through a lot of changes, I know what everyone means to me now, but after Kitsune, I’ll be different, I afraid I won’t be the same Briar.” She frowned. “You will be the same Briar, with a little more authority, and you will be able to knock just about anyone on their asses!” Rei smiled, winking. “Super! I’ll become a bully then? I don’t want to be anything like Alyssa, so don’t expect it.” She looked at Rei. “As for you, Troy. Your envy and jealousy are going to end up pushing me away. They aren’t attractive traits to have. These traits are flawed.” Briar smiled. Rei could see Briar wasn’t going to ge

Taking a few seconds to breathe, letting her brain catch up, and compose something smart to say, rather than confusing the situation even more. By the end of this conversation the connection between them would forever be altered. This has always been the part Kitsune hated the most. It has happened many times in her past. She came between twins of every generation her entire life, which was long. This time was different somehow, with the three of them only because Briar is a brand new human vessel, never tested, never pushed to fight like she should have by now. “Your sin of taking me against my will has been forgiven, Troy. I will not forget this so easily, but, I will forgive and understand your actions, thus far.” She said. “Your duality is going to be wicked if you train in properly. That’s What I love about you, Kitsune, you’re real and not much bothers you.” Troy said. “Thank you, Troy.” The way she touched Troy’s hand, Rei had seen enough. He stood, looking down at the two,

Caius shook his head at them wondering how they had managed to live list long. “You’re too loud. Legacies just don’t train the same way as the old days. I miss those days.” Caius whispered, crouching between them. “You may have taken care of the small fries out here, but there is a secondary wave that will consist of high ranking Alphas we are closing in on now.” He scolded.“We are half a mile away from that house. How long will it take for each eave to run back and report?” Moon asked. “Not long. Oh, as an added benefit, we don’t know when they shuffle posts either. I’m going to assume its 2 to 3 hours away, so we have the time to do some damage. Use it wisely, and do things safe. We are here for a 3 day look around, are on a limited kill order, it sucks I know. Rei Came into Bri’s room, sat by her bed as he had for the last few days. “How you feeling today, Bri?” Smiling as soon as she opened her eyes, “Hey, you. I never thought of you as a morning person.” She laughed. “I’m not either, but I can have coffee, you, can’t.” He teased her. "That’s a low blow, Strauss.” She giggled, coughing as she did.“Are you ok? I know I’m the last person you want to talk about what happened to you, but I’m offering my shoulder and ear.” Rei smiled down at her. "Why are you being so nice? You’re going to confront Troy, aren’t you? I warn you, he protected me when I had nobody there. He took my side, treated me with kindness,” Rei cut her off. “The amulets you two wear are to keep your true feelings in check, you and I are mates. I know you don’t feel it now because of the amulets.” Rei explained. “I’m all new to this whole wolf thing, where there’s a powerful wolf inside me that will emerge in under a week, changing my life, how I feel, what I want. After hanging up with Kyle, Rak-Sha took off in hot pursuit of the three wolves that were on the way to the KingBear home.“You both know we have a tail, right?” Caius asked the two of them. “Who is it? Kyle’s wolves are all surrounding his home, who would be left to follow us?” Misha asked. “One from Veil, like me. An ancient, dangerous, blood thirsty Eternal, Rak-Sha. He has an Alpha spirit unlike any other I have seen. He has managed to submit every wolf he comes in contact with so far, including Draken, Kitsune, and myself. Not just us, either, our wolves submitted as well.” Caius exclaimed. “That makes me feel a little nervous.” Misha said. “It should. If you’re not prepared for someone like Rak-Sha, you will be dead before you knew he was even there.” Ciaus warned. “Stillness will prove to be more deadly than if we keep moving.” He added, waking away. “This should be a party.” Misha mumbled under her breath. _--_--_ Kyle stood, running every senerio, trying his best to de

Walking into Briar’s dark and silent room, Kyle looked at his daughter laying there, bruised, broken, and unable to speak because he and Noni had only wanted her to grow up to know life before service and duty. This is the repayment for her upbringing. He sat on the chair that was at her bedside and picked up one of her small hands, held it to his forehead then to his lips. When her eyes opened and saw him there, she opened her eyes wide, rubbing them to make certain she wasn’t dreaming. When the tears started falling he swept her up in a bear hug like he would when she was a child and hurt herself. “Bri, I am sorry for all of this. You should have been informed from the very start. Your mom and I only wanted you to grow up knowing life so you could become the one to save us all. That kind of stress should not be put on a child, ever.” He whispered. She placed her hands on either side of her father’s face. She shook her head, indicating there was nothing to forgive. “Troy?” Bri his

I need a rest. I used a lot of energy using my aura this time. A few of them got away. We haven’t had the chance to go off in search of who’s left or what direction they ran in. Sorry.” Shae collapsed, finally being able to breathe, relax, and let her guard down.“I’ve got you!’ Tris went to her, swept her up in his arms, and took her to the room across from Noni’s room. “Dove, bring Briar up to her room, and put Troy in the spare room at the end of the hall. Ten minutes after Noni received Briar’s call, she had informed everyone she could, while Shae called others. “Why isn’t she picking up? She just called!” Noni started hyperventilating. “Noni! Breathe, Troy. He told himself. You can’t get her out if you’re too pised to think straight. “What’s with his sister, though? If I had the chance to get my 15 minutes, I’d do it, family or not.
