“Ha!” She narrowed her eyes, as if she had discovered some secret. “Did you ignore me on purpose, just so I’ll sit on your lap and kiss you? Hmph! Dream on!”

She acted as if she was about to stand up as she said this.

Everett hooked his arms around her waist, not wanting her to leave.
