“Are you sure you want to stay?” Josh asked gently as he gazed at his sister.

Elena glanced over her shoulder and locked eyes with Simon. “There are some things I need to take care of,” she said, turning back around to face her brother. She smiled. “But don’t you worry, I’ll be back soon.”

“Are you sure you can trust him?”

The way Josh had been glaring at Simon made it obvious the two did not see eye to eye. And yet, there was something—a reason—they weren’t declaring war against each other.
