“What's going on here?” Emma asked in bewilderment.

She didn't understand why those things were showing on the screen, but from the terrible whispers around her, she suspected that they were meant to ruin her reputation.

Emma shook her head and faced forward to grab the microphone.

“Some of the things you saw aren't true,” Emma protested. “I am in a relationship with Liam, but I'm not engaged to anyone. Those photos weren't real,”

As people heard her words, they became more confused. Some turned their gaze to Roland, who was so displeased by how fast she denied that they were never engaged.

It hurt him and broke his heart.

“I am not getting married to anyone,” Emma said, hoping that people would believe her.

There were important people at the party and her career could be affected.

“She's lying!”

Emma turned to the person who spoke, and her eyes widened to see her father.

“I am so ashamed to say this, but I have to admit that Emma is my daughter,” Mr. Crown said into a microphone.
