Selene’s chest burned with every breath as the darkness pressed in tighter, heavier. The coldness of the abyss seemed to wrap around her, squeezing the life from her, but something deep inside her refused to submit. She refused to be overwhelmed, to fall into the power that sought to claim her. The weight of the figure’s presence was crushing, but she held her sword steady, refusing to let it slip from her grasp.

The ground trembled beneath their feet again, more violently this time, and the figure’s shadow loomed larger, darker. It spoke in a low growl that rattled the bones, its voice reverberating through the air like the crackling of thunder.

“You are nothing,” it hissed, “You are but remnants of what once was, and you will never escape the labyrinth’s grasp. It has chosen its victims.”

Kieran stepped forward, his own sword drawn, his expression a mask of cold determination. “We are not your victims. We’ve faced worse, and we’ve survived. We’re not giving up now.”
